Really they dont have to sell since a good number of people will get them FREE with their galaxy s10 devices....so they become relevant on their own becuz they were given away without a 75% price hike like airpods.....something Apple is too selfish to ever do. And even if you don't get them free they are 129.99 and will be available around 79.99 during holiday seasons......great for people who want an alternative to airpods.

Apple seems to have no problems selling Airpods at full price.

Guess it depends if you don’t charge your buds everyday and you forget to charge them it’s easier done. I’ve done that plenty of times with the air pods

I’ve forgotten to charge my AirPods case a fair few times and then I’m out and I realise my case only has 10% charge and I’ve got a full day ahead of me. On other occasions I’ve not put my Apple Watch on my charger properly and so it didn’t charge over night but I don’t realise until I’m out and the low power notice comes on. These are situations where I’d find the reverse charging useful.

Ok, you two have presented real use cases I didn't think existed? I think this is more a convenience thing in your use cases though, but charging another phone could be more an emergency thing, if it works with other phones?

That's the truth... seen a fair few hanging in peoples ears lol! Including mine..

You are right, it is possible. But I just don't trust Samsung! I mean just look how they changed their Galaxy Tab for 2019. Striking similar to the new iPad Pro, even antenna bands. build material (from glass to aluminum) they changed the camera position also, and after making fun of Apple about the lack of headphone jack, they did remove it themselves from the tablet! Not just copycats but hypocrites too!

The Galaxy Tab S5e is extremely thin. That's why no headphone jack.
The Tab A 10.1 has a headphone jack.

Can apple use that as an excuse for their iPhones? NO!!!

Samsung is just an altruistic charity, giving their earbuds away as a loss leader?

AirPods are hanging from my ears also. The buds are feature packed, and you get ANC which the AirPods don’t give you. However, for me the AirPods are a perfect companion and the call quality is excellent. I rarely have two in my ears at the same time except if I’m relaxing and consuming some on-demand shows.

More like Samsung has to give their earbuds away because they know these products aren’t going to sell well.

That’s the thing about Apple.

When they wanted to remove the headphone jack, they did it to all their iPhones. All their latest iPhones now sport Face ID and lack the headphone jack. No regrets, no looking back. While you might disagree with what Apple has done, you cannot fault their conviction here. They really walked the talk in this regard.

Compared with other companies who seemingly remove or keep the headphone jack around on a whim. So is it necessary or not? Samsung just can’t seem to make up their minds, especially when their most expensive phone now sports a notch and lacks the headphone jack.

I did report your posts as I found them sick and distasteful to be honest, and totally unnecessary, but the Mod team and ergo MacRumors website doesn’t condone comments promoting violence towards Samsung owners as breaking the rules and won’t take any action (although having read them I'm not so sure), not everyone likes to read comments condoning violence against someone because of the brand of earphones they use, even if it was meant as a joke, what else can we joke about on here and get away with?

Anyway still interested to see how these headphones compare to the AirPods.

And you're surprised?
I was not long ago I was penalized because I simply called somebody a "PR guy" or because I wrote to somebody "can't you read" as he kept refusing the acknowledge the link I posted, which proved him wrong.

Samsung lets users make their own minds. They came out with a line up that damn near pleases everyone, and pound for pound cheaper than the iPhone. Even if someone wants a flat screen, they have the choice of the S10e.

The the Galaxy Fold is a first gen luxury niche product at the moment. I don't think a user of that will give a damn if it has a headphone jack or not. The focus is on the fold out screen.

You seem to have the :apple: mentality that it's a good thing when a company strips a feature from it's entire line up. I rather have choice.

From a realistic standpoint, the AirPods price really isn’t unreasonable. If you look at some of the competition on the market, for their wireless Bluetooth devices, it’s fairly expensive. Even though the AirPods are missing features like noise cancellation and water resistance, I still think they offer a lot of quality features and the battery life is excellent, which is a crucial experience for Bluetooth.

Wow, your actually complaining about manufactures who offer you a choice.

I’ve seen it all now...
And FYI, Apple removed the headphone jack for profit, it cuts down on components and probably licensing fees, and of course it then pushes you to buying their AirPods or wireless Beats headphones.

Will you still be promoting the same opinion when Apple ditch headphone jacks from its laptop lineup, because they will do that one day, they’ve done it with their ‘pro’ As much as a high end computer tablets...

Well yeah it’s not a feature I would expect to use much but when go round the in-laws for example and I’m low on power I can use my partners phone to charge and be good to go for extra hour or so...so I’m sure will find a use case for it

I was already using the AirPods while I was on my 6S+ (which sported the headphone jack). This change cost me absolutely nothing.

Honestly, I can't believe we are still having this argument in 2019.

The lesson that Apple keeps teaching and which others keep ignoring is - that in order to create true meaningful change in a market, you need to force change. By taking bold unapologetic stances. Here’s a touchscreen smart phone without the familiarity of a physical Qwerty keyboard. Here’s a large screen tablet without a desktop OS and desktop apps and file system. Here’s a smart phone without a headphone jack. Here's a laptop with only USB-C ports.

Apple prides itself in giving consumers something that they wanted before they even knew they wanted it.

Take a look at the 1-port macbook, for instance. It's not that having 1 port is better than having 2 or even 4 USB-C ports. Rather, Apple is alluding that the manner in which we interact with our devices will change. You either won't need to plug that many peripherals to your computer in the future, or will be able to do so via a hub. Eventually, I won't be surprised if we see a Mac without any ports one day.

Same with Apple's dropping of the headphone jack. Many of you see this as a cynical cash-grab by Apple in the form of sales of AirPods and headphone-jack adaptors (and maybe reduced manufacturing costs). Personally, I see this as Apple having a vision of a future where the headphone jack will ultimately lose value, because the way we interact with our devices will change.

By not waiting until alternatives actually appear on the scene in full force, Apple feels it is best positioned to navigate this change in the driver's seat. That is why I believe Apple removed the headphone jack when they did, so they could play an active role in bringing about the change they want to see.

And in fact, it already is, given how the Apple Watch is gaining in popularity. When you have both an iPhone and Apple Watch, a pair of wired headphones (and consequently, the headphone jack) makes less and less sense given how you will likely be using wireless headphones to connect to your Apple Watch in the first place.

This is one of the main reasons I prefer Apple products over the competition. And why (I believe) Samsung can never catch up to Apple. For the simple reason that the management at Samsung still doesn't know, in their hearts, what they want to stand for.

And Apple does.

Where you see choice, I see the lack of a coherent vision for the future. In my view, Samsung is placing the wrong bets in all the wrong places and it’s going to come back to hurt them.

You cannot fault Samsung either.
Remind me again who created an entire commercial dedicated to mocking the notch and the lack of a headphone jack in iPhones (and by extension, their users)?

This reminds me of what Apple fans said when Samsung launched the first Galaxy Note.
Yeah it's looks like Apple's vision=following in the footsteps of Android OEMs.

Why won’t they sell? If they connect as good as air pods with great battery life and a lower price? No reason why they won’t sell

Certainly if more are buying Samsung phones
They’ll sell (or be given away with an s10 purchase). Why would one want AirPods over the earbuds if one buys an s10?

Well yeah you wouldn’t

Just like somebody with an iPhone makes sense to buy air pods over the buds

You’ve literally written several paragraphs championing the removal of consumer choice, and in your previous post attacked Samsung for offering this consumer choice.
And then you talk about the Apple Watch, well I actually own one and myself don’t and I do not know anyone who does own one who uses it to listen to music from. People stream music off Spotify etc, and the Apple Watch doesn’t do that, unless you buy the higher end more expensive model and subscribe to another contract. Again costing more money.

Sorry but your logic is flawed, Samsung knows who they are, they are still offering choice, Apple forces the removal of it.

You got to be kidding. o_O

Removing the headphone jack is something iPhone users just deal with. They are not glad Apple removed it nor wanted it removed.

Wow. Still so much Samsung hate. Why? Because they created a viable product that cost less? Let's try and remember - Apple wasn't first to the bluetooth headphone market. Samsung and Apple "steal" from each other all the time.

But please - let the armchair critics argue back and forth about how these headphones suck without ever trying them. Maybe they can share movie reviews of films they've never seen next.

i think they are overpriced. what im missing is the volume controlling touching the surface of airpods. now you are forced to talk or take your phone out of the pocket if not owning apple watch. and i dont want to talk to myself in a bus/metro or so... before i had apple watch, i hated to control the audio, tracks and volume. it really sucks with airpods... now with apple watch it is easier, but not as easy as touching the surface. i have other bluetooth headphones, half of the cost of airpods and sliding your finger up or down on the surface of the headphones it changes volume up or down. airpods should have this feature too, and for that price.

You got to be kidding. o_O

Removing the headphone jack is something iPhone users just deal with. They are not glad Apple removed it nor wanted it removed.

It’s not about being happy that something was removed. It’s about learning to look beyond the here and now, and understanding why Apple does this sort of things.

Apple blocked flash from their devices, and while users were inconvenienced in the short run, the benefit in the long run came in the form of an App Store and native apps optimised for touch and direct input, plus the proliferation of html5 (now that flash was no longer a threat). Both of which now give me a better user experience than flash, but if you only worry about the short term and not do anything about flash, then the App Store and html 5 might never have gotten the break they needed to truly take off in popularity.

Apple doesn’t do this sort of thing on a whim. They have a vision of how they want their devices to be used, and so use their resources to influence trends and steer users towards this brave new world that they so envision.

I am not saying the absence of a headphone jack makes a product better than one with it. I am saying that the removal of the headphone jack will help usher in a new world order which is better than the current one. It may suck now, but it will be worth it in the end.
