Samsung should give up on the Galaxy fold. Absolutely useless.

Inb4: "But we should applaud Samsung for trying something different!"

Really? Samsung has been throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks since the iPhone came out. Rather have them just design something that makes sense instead of releasing a product for PR brownie points.

They came out with 2 traditional Note devices and a Fold device. Not one of those "makes sense" to you? Why not applaud Samsung for trying something different? No one is making you buy it. It could be the future it might not but why be angry about a company trying to do something different unless it's your only choice? Like New Coke, if your old enough to remember that. ;)

Samsung's offerings have become so bad in recent years. The $1299 Ultra is the actual successor of what the Note has been historically and is supposed to be in modern times. The $999 model is just a worse S20 with an S Pen and apparently a plastic back. Both just seem like such poor values. And for phones that only get a few years of software support. Wow, just wow.

Samsung is all in on this rose gold/bronze color scheme. I didn’t know it was still a thing. There is something about Samsung devices that rub me the wrong way. They look like faux luxury, like costume jewelry. Not a fan.

The watch looks decent. If they ever got approval for any of the tech outside Korea, it would be a good health tracking device as it can do ECGs, Blood pressure and O2 Sats. However I doubt any of this will be available outside of South Kore.

It's amazing how brain dead the design team for the Fold is. They couldn't center the hole-punch camera because of the hinge so where did they choose to put it? Of course they chose to put it a quarter of the way in so it's centered on half the display!! Good job Samsung!

That isn't a design decision only : it's likely that they couldn't put it in the right hand corner because of the rear camera which already takes all the thickness of the phone. And they may have preferred to keep it on the right hand side to place the camera logic in the same area.

Both Galaxy 20 Note phones are compatible with 5G networks, come with S Pens, and have fingerprint sensors and facial recognition for biometric protection. They support wireless charging and feature IP68 water and dust resistance.
- headphone jack?
- What does support wireless charging mean? Only wireless charging and/or reverse wireless charging?
- Facial recognition? On-par with Apples' FaceID?

All other earbuds have something sticking out of your ear. It's never pretty. It's just a degree of ugliness.
The stem is for the microphone.
Yeah, because memojis add cuddles and fuzz.
If those don't do it for you, the fastest SoC on a smartphone or tablet, privacy-focused position, 6 years of support and highest resale among devices might.

Then they should have just put it in the left side where there is no rear camera. Please tell me there's another sensible reason for this.

Edit: Sorry I missed the last part of your comment but I still stand by what I said.

A shout out to Juli Clover for an excellent write-up on Samsung's new devices.

I know it's sad, but I come to Macrumors to learn about new Samsung devices because the Macrumors editors do such a great job with the articles on new Samsung releases. They are always brief and to the point. They leave out the opinions that get crammed into other articles.

Since Apple products are theoretically supported for so long, why would one care about a high resale value?

I’m an Apple user, dude. I was responding to the “souless” comment. Samsung’s competition if good for everyone.
