I still crave for a Round Apple Watch
The issue is , with rounded apple watch..people, who indeed has real mechanical watches will always compare and will never buy this...the look of an rounded digital watch it will always look cheap compared to the mechanical...thats why Apple is an almost 2 tril $ company, because they talk with the right people...until apple watch, they talked with the CEO of companies like Rolex, Audemar Piguet etc....so...smart people, talk with those who did watches for decades with centuries of history....others...just pretend and try to copy, like samsung in this case, the big watches manufactures

After using an iPhone for 13 years, I gave a Note 10 a try. I ended up switching back to iPhone within 10 months. The hardware is wonderful but the software is such a compromise that I eventually couldn't take it anymore.

Looks like the same story with the next gen. I'm really interested in a device like the Galaxy Z Fold2 but with Android on it, all the "cool" things are just gimmicks. Real world use will be just as compromised and impractical.

nice watch ... well done Samsung

When I got my Apple Watch I just couldn't bring myself to sell my S3. Samsung makes nice watches with terrible 3rd party support. But when I watch more than smart features I put it on.

Same story, same outcome, but with an S7.

Please let me have a Note 20 with iOS on it. Please?
note 20 with plastic body, 60hz, 128ssd max, 6gb ram in android world whre you have 12 gb ram and all of that for 999$ starting price ?!
And that note 20 ULTRA....i mean where will samsung stop going bigger and bigger? the bezels cannot get any smaller...so if next year you will come with 7.5" that means even a bigger body
For us girls...we still can carry big phones in our purse...but when we talk at it...our hands are not that big :))
and when i see gentlemen with nice clothes on them, but with a big very big bulk in their pants...i start smiling

The Tab 7 costs $50 more than the iPad Pro, and the iPad is a lot better. (It’s not AMOLED, it’s LCD)

Edit: I hadn’t seen it’s 5G.

Tab 7 comes with AMOLED 120 Hz(way different than LCD at 120 Hz), bundled S Pen, Expandable Memory, Cellular option(You can send and receive WhatsApp, SMS, Make calls, 5G option unlike iPad) seems to be far superior to iPad. I still use Galaxy Tab S2, no problems at all. They don’t price like iPads with various storage options.

Very valid point for girls....unfortunately the best specs are packed only in bigger mobiles except iPhone Pros....

Ultra is narrower, slightly taller, same thickness and is lighter than iPhone 11 Pro Max. What was Apple thinking?

Someone should tell the market.

And they look like beans!

The whole Bean presentation was weird. It was like they had a rough idea how the feature worked but they had to read every alert to know what to do next.

Also, am I the only one who watched this and was like... if you were listening to something the volume for you was probably perfect for you... so when the other person says it's loud the convenient solution would be independent volume controls... not just lowering it for everyone.

Soulless devices

samsung at least is finally getting the ecosystem idea right by copying Apple.

hey Macrumors, what’s with helping Samsung marketing the Galaxy lineup launch with that unique press photo #1 used in this article? You defecting? At the very least since you report so much in Samsung launches might as well launch a sister site called GalaxyRumors ;)

Those headphones look dreadful! Samsung finally has bested Apple at something, terrible headphone design. Making it all gaudy doesn’t make it an instant icon either Samsung.

Galaxy Z Fold 2, what happens to the first Galaxy Z Fold, lol? The first was simply the Galaxy Fold, no Zed/Zee in the product name.

What would Samsung’s product decisions be without Apple? 🤣

What would the iPhone be without Samsung displays, chips and other parts? Non-existent?

Sorry but I get tired of people on both sides slamming ios and android, mac and PC just because they use one and not the other or a feature was copied. They all copy each other so let's just stop with those inane who copied who messages. The better the competition the better products end users get to choose from and that works perfect for my liking.

If a device is completely awful regardless of brand fine, but Samsung has put out quality devices for a long time.

Well except for the ones that would catch fire and that is a fair complaint but that's been some time now.

These phones combined will not sell as many as the upcoming 5.4 inch iPhone 12. Apple got the pent up demand for a smaller phone right, while still offering nice larger phone options.

Interesting. Although I've been off the Samsung wagon due to the almost daily privacy stories Google has I still look with interest every year. The Notes look nice, I'm not a big fan of the pinholes and feel they detract from the screen just as much as the iphones notch. The non curved screen Note looks great as I hate the wasted space of the curved screens, just a shame it's on the inferior model. The lower model also has much nicer curves, personally I always thought the Note series were starting to get way too boxy. 5x optical zoom really sounds awesome. Wireless dex is something I'd love to play with as well. $1299 for starting Ultra, hmm not so much. I'd probably opt for the non Ultra at $999 since it has the nicer screen.

My real interest is the Fold 2, but really no news on that yet. I'd like to know if they used the glass from the Flip, or just re-used the non glass from the Fold 1. Also was hoping it would be thinner, 6mm x 2 = 12mm when folded, probably closer to 14mm at the hinge, yeah that is really thick. Can't wait for more news on that.

I hate the fact that you can't say anything anymore without being accused of something... 'Politically Correct' is the worst thing to happen to this planet!

more because of ignorance and privilege having this attitude in the first place that caused the issue which was wrong to do in the first place causing a divide which now I needs to be corrected!

Back on topic the Galaxy Z Fold is probably the best product of this launch and will solidify a good reason for foldable phones. Huawei should have released theirs and failed. I think this has enough of the necessary hardware refinements necessary to make the product viable for users to want it. Now the software will be the real issue.

Worldwide Samsung phone sales are considerably higher than Apple. Apple may catch them with a new release, but by the end of release quarter Samsung is back ahead.

I really dig the Tab's magnetic case/kickstand setup, it's almost as nice as a surface pro. That just leaves the ipad as the odd man out with its inane inability to be propped up without using a clunky case.

The note ultra isn’t for your average user. It’s for real power users who want everything in a phone which gives them productivity. No phone can compete with the note hardware so people buying this are wanting everything. People who buy the iphone 12 won’t be after all that. They just will want a cheap iphone.

FYI the UTG glass Samsung used on the Z Flip/Flip 5G is used on Both the 2020 Galaxy Notes. Further more the Galaxy Note Ultra is the one with the slightly curved screen like last year while the non-Ultra doesn’t.

I see a major hardware decision issue between these products.

Note Ultra battery: 4500mAh
Note battery: 4300mAh.
why couldn’t the Ultra have a much larger battery? Most likely Samsung is using existo battery parts bin from the Galaxy lineup to save on R&D and manufacturing costs considering COVID-19 May resurge and affect sales. Recall last fiscal quarter of 2019 Samsung got butt hurt with significant drop of revenues and sales.

Note 6.7”
Note Ultra 6.9” screen at higher resolution; and limited 120Hz refresh usage - NOT at full resolution if enabled. What’s the point then?!

Apple doesn’t have anything to worry about with their iPhone 12 lineup, MacBoos using ASi cpu and with AppleWatch 6 this year.

speaking of which, isn’t the AW6 a little late in being announced?!

EDITED: Note battery capacity correction and screen sizes of Note and Note Ultra.

They came out with 2 traditional Note devices and a Fold device. Not one of those "makes sense" to you? Why not applaud Samsung for trying something different? No one is making you buy it. It could be the future it might not but why be angry about a company trying to do something different unless it's your only choice? Like New Coke, if your old enough to remember that. ;)

Who said the Note doesn't make sense? I was exclusively talking about the Fold.

Why is it bad? Look at Samsung's smartwatches. Samsung rushed to market with the Galaxy Gear to try to beat Apple by being "first". They tried a couple of standard touchscreens, a curved screen, and finally a circular screen with a rotating dial (which Samsung basically took ideas from Moto 360 and Apple Watch). They have no clue what makes a great product until some other company spends the time to design one. The early smartwatches were quickly abandoned (first Galaxy Gear had less than a years worth of updates) in favor of this circular watch form. How is that good for consumers? How is that good for developers that spent the time to make software for the early watches?

Galaxy Fold is just another case of rushing to market with a product that doesn't really make the overall UX of a phone better. Samsung starts with the tech foundation then adapts the UX while Apple starts with the UX foundation then adapts the tech. These two different approaches yield completely different products and so far the latter approach has been the one that makes the most sense to me.
