How is their strategy working?? They're at a two yr low...does not compute

Sadly, their business strategy is unethical and unfair but it's working. People does not really research on Samsung's ads, business strategy or products and after Apple releases their new products, you will see why samsung done all ''me first'' job. For example; we, know that Samsung copied almost all iWatch rumors but when Apple release iWatch, people will think Apple copied Samsung's gear devices. But that strategy is slowly rotting and losing it's effectiveness. They can cause big damage to Samsung in long term. And in *my* opinion Samsung's mobile business will slowly shrink and leave it's leadership in Android.

Are we talking in circles? Their profits are plunging. This is the part where you tell me they're in it for the market share.

Yes. They are in it for market share. Not arguing it's a good strategy. Just answering your question.

I do not agree that their strategy is working. Even if we entertain the crazy notion that they're only in it for the market share, their market share has declined also. For the first time in four yrs. So even if they were a stupid company who doesn't care about profits, they're still losing Market share too.

I concur with most of the comments above; My iPhone 4S, my 5C and 5S are all great phones, and I'm not feeling the need for bigger, there's always the iPad Mini and iPad Classic for that.

What is an "iPad Classic"? Not aware of anything apple makes called that.

There earnings reports are showing that this is starting to happen.

Oops, I really meant to post my response to:

I've switched to a Samsung Galaxy smartphone. I consider myself tech-savvy. I have no problems digging deep into technical babble and I'm not at all closed minded when it comes to switching systems and learning new things. Especially if they're enormously cheaper.

But after a few months with Android I'm COUNTING DAYS until the iPhone 6 comes out...

Me? How? What's Apple going to do to make a 5.5" in a smaller form factor than the competition? Get rid of the home button? Edge to edge screen? Change the proportions?

First of all, I never said 5.5" screen. Can't imagine ever wanting a phone with a 5.5" screen. Or, to be more precise I can't imagine ever wanting a phone big enough to hold a 5.5" screen.

But yes, I could see Apple finding an innovative way to make a larger screen than they currently offer, and putting it in a form factor the same or similar in size to their current phone. Edge to edge would be one plausible way of doing it. And they could also do something creative with the home button.

The point I was making in my OP was that Apple tends to re-think the paradigm, more so than other manufacturers. And even you must admit that they have surprised and upended the market on a number of fronts over the years by doing so. It's not beyond their capabilities to do it again where larger screens are concerned.

Apple Started S nomenclature with 3GS and later with 4S (stood for Siri).

Crapsung copied it.

And you have evidence to suggest that they used S because Apple did, as opposed for it meaning something?

The biggest difference was that MAC vs PC campaign did a few key elements different.

1. It made fun of the generic PC user, where as Samsung clearly attacks Apple by brand.

2. Apple was an underdog with close to no marketshare and attacked all PC brands. Still are in the PC-market i think.

3. It had an obvious comical twist to it, music / actors.

4. Samsung as far as I know sells more phones than anyone, (maybe not in the segment Apple is in) and as such they are kicking downwards.

I didn't find them funny at all, just pretentious.
