Pre-emptive strike on their part... as others have mentioned, though, the premise is legit. Apple has waited a long time to introduce a larger screen, much like they did with the whole "right click/mouse" situation

Am I the only person left in the world that doesn't want a bigger screen? I think the size of the iPhone 5 is perfect.

Especially with that line "You must be really happy" - "yeah". All he'd have to say instead was, "oh, you bet" and the whole commercial could have been for Apple instead. :)

This seems like a terrible idea for Samsung, IMO. Sure, they might get some sales they might not have otherwise before Apple releases its larger screen iPhone in September.

However, at the same time they are basically advertising that the only advantage of the Samsung is the size, one that will be nullified in 2 months. After that people who buy into the ads will have no reason to pick a Samsung over an iPhone anymore.

I'd imagine the sales this ad loses them post-September will exceed the sales it earns them in the next 2 months.

[Of course, the assumption being that Apple will release a larger iPhone, one which I have to see to believe. My comment is still applicable, because Samsung is almost certainly convinced Apple will]

So samsung is trying to win over iPhone users by trying to make them feel 'dumb' about their purchase of an iPhone? Samsung, work on your marketing strategy  Especially since this small screen phone is currently beating the sales on your flagship phone :]

I was telling a friend the same thing and they said Samsung was just trying to make their customers feel better...

I'm starting to believe that Apple will only come out with a 4.7" phone.

Going from 4" to just 0.7" more is barely any change!

I think you may have missed the point. They aren't really trying to win over iPhone users. They want people to chose their phone instead of an iPhone. It's like when Toyota makes an...

Actually, it's 'almost' perfect. If it was wider (not just longer), like the 4S, then it would be perfect.

However, that's just my opinion. #

5.1 inches of Band-Aid-backed stupidity...

Not to mention the gimmick of a heart rate sensor that can be replaced with a simple camera and flash like on the previous generations...

For those that create videos... Someone should do an Fan Made "apple" ad with the caption.... GET OVER IT, NOBODY CARE or something like BUJU, WE HAD IT FOR 2 YEARS AND IT SUCK

LOL XD we should start making fan made ads and make fun of the company, i mean they are targeting us isn't? :)

Then, they are saying I should get a LG G3, because it has a bigger screen, more resolution than theirs, and the exterior size is basically the same.

Also, being IPS-LCD, doesn't have burn-in issues, and you can actually read it in the sun or with sunglasses on...

Samsung tries so hard and yet what do they have to show for it? Three straight quarters of declining growth/profits. They spend all this money on advertising and still can't buy brand loyalty. Apple is selling more iPhones than it ever has before and this is all the while other phone manufacturers have been designing phones with larger screens for several years now. Obviously screen size alone doesn't matter that much.

I don't want a bigger screen. Heck, I don't even like the iPhone 5 size, and am happy with my 4.

I wouldn't mind if the iPhone 4's bezel was all screen instead, but size wise, the pre-iPhone 5 phones are the ones I find most comfortable of all.

LOL. I have to give Sammy credit for this one. We check MACRUMORS, EVERY SINGLE DAY waiting for our new iPhone and NOPE, it still aint here! LOL. :p;):)

My iPad screen is far bigger than that puny little Samsung phone so I'm not sure what envy Samsung would be referring to. It's not like Apple users don't have 13+ inch MacBooks or iMacs with 27" screens and so they don't know what a large screen is or something.

Maybe Samsung should be trying to figure out why their sales and profits are dropping like a rock rather then concentrating on what Apple is doing all the time.

I remember when Apple said they weren't going to release a larger size screen and that it was perfect as designed. Then when consumers left to join Android they voted for larger screen phones with their wallets. Now Apple has to play catch up. Once you use a larger screen with a high resolution display it's painful to to back to the iPhone. It feels like you're looking through a tiny key hole trying to decipher information.

It's funny no one likes these ads. I think they're not that different from the Mac vs. PC ads..

I didn't care for those either to be honest. However, as far as I remember, the Mac vs PC ads didn't really play as much on the whole "Hey...look at this guy over here... so pathetic... he's got a Windows PC... psh... man... so jealous... so jealous..." theme as much as these seem to.

Then again, I probably dislike the idea of Windows being "some guy in a business suit" more.

Hmm... seems to me this commercial is mostly letting everyone who doesn't follow Apple rumors know that a bigger screen iPhone is coming. (Anyone actually shopping for a phone can plainly see there are many with bigger screens than an iPhone, so this ad is pointless in communicating that.)

Sounds like a big favor to Apple!

Barring maybe 1 Mac vs. PC ad, they didn't attack the users. They attacked personifications of the products. But more importantly, they tried to be funny. When they were, they worked, but when they weren't they were absolutely groan-worthy.

Samsung's ad attacks the users it wants to buy its products (something which worked a few years ago when anti-Apple folks were desperately looking for a reason to justify their purchases, when Android was terrible, but doesn't work as well today, because Android is good, if not, IMO as good as iOS, iPhone and the retail and app ecosystem Apple has).

Even worse, Samsung ads don't even try to be funny, and just go straight for smug, which is what the Mac vs. PC ads were at their worst.

Full Disclosure: I hated the Mac vs PC ads.
