I think Samsung needs to get professional help over their Apple obsession. :D

And make no mistake, they're essentially calling iPhone users stupid. I wouldn't say that's the way to win people over and get new customers. But my guess is these ads aren't meant for average consumers; they're meant to get page views on tech sites and ignite flame wars in the comments sections.

I disagree, if an ad successfully makes a user of a product look stupid and I was following blindly like a good majority of the non tech population. Then I would avoid that product in fear of looking stupid. Nobody wants to look stupid or uneducated, and if samsung makes iPhone users feel stupid for using an iPhone, then I am sure some people will switch over in fear of being made fun of by there friends. Espically if they don't know specs and aren't techy, the only thing they have to go off of is what there friends say.

This seems like a terrible idea for Samsung, IMO. Sure, they might get some sales they might not have otherwise before Apple releases its larger screen iPhone in September.

However, at the same time they are basically advertising that the only advantage of the Samsung is the size, one that will be nullified in 2 months. After that people who buy into the ads will have no reason to pick a Samsung over an iPhone anymore.

I'd imagine the sales this ad loses them post-September will exceed the sales it earns them in the next 2 months.

[Of course, the assumption being that Apple will release a larger iPhone, one which I have to see to believe. My comment is still applicable, because Samsung is almost certainly convinced Apple will]

It's a bad commercial for all the reasons you state. Might get fanboys riled up on tech sites but not sure it will drive more Galaxy sales.

My iPad screen is far bigger than that puny little Samsung phone so I'm not sure what envy Samsung would be referring to. It's not like Apple users don't have 13+ inch MacBooks or iMacs with 27" screens and so they don't know what a large screen is or something.

Maybe Samsung should be trying to figure out why their sales and profits are dropping like a rock rather then concentrating on what Apple is doing all the time.

Curiosity question so please don't beat me up. Why are you comparing a phone with an iPad? There's no direct correlation, but there is one readily available with the 12 billion different sized tablets they offer. I don't get it.

How sad is samsung anyway? They buy into the rumors of the next iphone and make a commercial about it. But they left out the apple larger screen won't come with the bloatware and other garbage known as android to boot. Our larger screen phone will actually just work. Lame

The next iPhone could have a 2" screen and I'd still buy it before I'd even consider a Samsung device. Hell, it could have no screen and there still wouldn't be any question about it.

Are you serious? The current iPhone screen is ridiculously dinky.

iPad Air and 4s user here.

Yup, I've pretty much lost my ability to click on anything since I got the Air. On the other hand, I can't imagine carrying a bigger phone in any pocket I own.

This ad sucks because even if you do want a larger screen, the Samsung device comes off pretty ugly compared to the iPhone. Second, the Samsung guy is a douchy. Who wants to sympathize with a douchebag?

Obviously he can make normal phone calls with his iPad. /s

Their screens don't work? I was under the impression that Samsung made excellent screens.

I'm starting to believe that Apple will only come out with a 4.7" phone.

Going from 4" to just 0.7" more is barely any change!

Huh? It's 38%* more screen space... also more pocket space required. That's hardly "barely." Barely is something that is imperceptible.

Oh Samsung.

Yes, please go on with your snark about how Apple customers must "just like waiting". Implying that I'm stupid is a definite way to get me to buy your devices! /s

So they're going to win over the people who are insecure enough to change their smartphone purchase based on the whims of their friends? Don't they realise that crowds are fickle and can turn in a second? That isn't an advantage.

Huh? It's 17.5% more screen space... also about 18% pocket space required. That's hardly "barely." Barely is something that doesn't even register to whatever measurement is being applied.

38% more*

Assuming we are talking about surface area.

But who likes to be told their stupid? And if I was an iOS user and wanted a bigger screen this ad basically tells me one will be coming with the next iPhone, so I'd probably wait to see what the new, bigger iPhone will look like. That doesn't drive Galaxy sales. Also, it's not like big screen Android devices are brand new so if my friends thought I was stupid for using an iPhone they would have told me already by now.

I'm excited

Because a bigger screen means a bigger battery. Oh. wait. It's barely bigger? While the bigger screen will use more power? I guess I'm gonna stick with gigantic battery case

Another thing I realized with these Samsung anti-Apple ads is that they try to make iPhone users look bad and stupid. Let's assume that they convince me that I really shouldn't have an iPhone, when I am trying to replace my iPhone I am not completely thrilled with Samsung (they made me feel bad) and would rather pick up an HTC, LG, or a Moto.

Why would I choose to go with Samsung, who I associate negative feelings with (because their ad made me feel bad about myself)?

Considering that the majority of the premium customer base is iPhone users, this may be Samsung shooting themselves in the foot.

(And if you want to relate it to the Mac vs PC ads, people leaving MS had no realistic alternative to Apple, since Linux was largely a non-factor. OTOH, outside of the iPhone, I can find many phones as good, if not better, than Samsung phones, and often for cheaper).
