I just wish 4TB’s would come down in price, as others have noted. Though, the world did have that bad batch of chips, so that hurt the industry.

I do love my Sandisk Extreme gen1 1TB, weekly use via my iPad Pro 3rd gen

I have two Samsung T7 1 TB drives for ad hoc backups, copies and such, and am trying to understand why they need rubbers, (with ribs no less).
i imagine to avoid law suits from idiots burning themselves as these drives generate SO MUCH HEAT

These are average and overpriced and the problem is you are locked into it as you cannot upgrade the internal storage without buying a whole new device. I simply purchased 2 x Samsung 980 Pro 2tb NVMe drives plus the enclosures and get a lot faster speeds than these devices plus upgradablity.

Don’t make excuses for it; Apple charges too much for SSD upgrade. That is just a fact.

No, actually that's just an opinion ("too much"). If people continue to pay Apple to upgrade the SSD size from the base model, then they can claim it's "too much" all they'd like, but the fact that they paid Apple's asking price proves they think it's worth it.

That’s from their refurbished site. Of course you didn’t mention that to put it in context.
What in the world are you on about? That article is referencing iMac being sold new, by Apple, on their website, in 2020.

No thunderbolt so no trim, what a missed opportunity. I'll stick for this reason the the slim line Thunderbolt / USB-C enclosures purchased through Amazon.

the T7 is fine for casual users but it lacks DRAM and instead uses a SLC cache. Ive personally seen a massive performance issue that I attribute to this problem. Google it. Better off with Sandisk Extreme.

Which Sandisk, Extreme Pro Portable V1 or V2?
