Have you actually used an Apple Studio Display? For that matter, have you used the new M8? I, for one, will pay extra for 5K rather than cheap out for a 4K display.
I think as a consumer grade product, the Samsung display is perfect. Apple unfortunately is no longer in that space for displays.

Ya - just need it for work and for it to look nice. It's crazy just to be able to adjust the height for a mac monitor it costs like $400 more lol

The aspect ratio is a different requirement. I would love a display with the Surface Studio panel of 4500x3000 as the squarer ratio is great for vertical content such as documents and websites, plus most relevant for me, coding. And the 192 DPI is near enough that I could use it at a Mac friendly retina 2x.
Agreed - I've really wanted such a display as well.

The Huawei MateView 28" is the closest I can find to it, and it isn't overly expensive, but doesn't quite have that contrast you get with the glossy finish.

You may want a utility like some of these

I had one until last week when I got a new MBP and reinstalled “everything” but I missed that one . Funny thing is, i can remember the icon but not the name of the app. 😊

Thanks for the possible solution. I was under the impression that the Apple Studio Display and at least one third-party display (from LG, I think) supports Apple's hardware control protocol and so doesn't require an added utility to handle brightness and volume from the keyboard. This would be a very useful piece of information for anyone who's looking to replace an iMac with a Mac mini or Studio.
