Would that be the same Samsung who's current flag ship phone cannot beat Apples 1 year old iPhone 6 in sales, and is fairing worse than Apples previous handset the 5S sales wise, and is barely getting more than Apples entry level handset from 2 years ago the 5C? Yes i see their plan is going to work. I don't think it will help them at all. For UK info i like browsing this every so often. http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/mobile_tracker/

Why do you think the new iPhone 6 Plus is so far down the charts, behind Samsung phones, and neck and neck level with the Samsung Note 4.

I would of thought it would of been selling better?

If they're trying to redirect the conversation, I really don't see it working long-term. They'll get some early buzz as people are still awaiting the next iPhone release, but once it happens, all eyes will be on Apple once again.
Actually I think it's stupid not brilliant. The minute the new iPhones come out they will get all the attention. is Samsung is releasing the Note early all that tells me is the Galaxy S6/Edge hasn't been as popular as Samsung hoped.

Can't wait to see this phone. The last 3 notes have been basically the exact same phone. Hoping for something refreshing in the design department.

You'll get it, don't worry. Just don't expect SD Card and removable battery, which was exactly what made it stand out (apart from the screen size).
Samsung is dying because of bad software as well.

I'm not an expert in marketing (I might be wrong) - But I guessed that people might also wait for Apple's move and then decide which device to buy. And while presenting this new phone I don't know if it will be fair to compare it with the iPhone 6 plus.... Most of the time this seems to be the strategy (Buy my phone because we are better that even the rumors of what apple might be doing ;) ).

Ummm... Ok... this isn't an uncommon thing to do. Generally called "Product Windows". A favourable time period in which to launch a product.

Like I already mentioned, Samsung you need to introduce the 128gb Note 5 EDGE at the same price as a 64GB iPhone. Also make the 128gb the entry model if you plan to do away with SD cards. Not only will your standard Note 5 probably be more expensive but your Edge version will be comically priced. Yes we all know the edge screens are more expensive to produce but you dont have the brand image given your history of producing plastic rubbish.

You need to make this Phone a loss leader if needed. Stop pricing near iPhone levels and definitely not above.

I own your Note 4 and your previous Notes and have only done so as I could buy them for approx 50-65% of iPhone money.

I'm definitely in the apple ecosystem and only own a Tab 4 tablet from Samsung, but my coworker did get the new Galaxy S6 Edge and it's a gorgeous phone with a gorgeous screen.

However, I'm not a fan of the Android OS.

Samsung should design a nice logo instead of a name on a device, most of the time it's also way too big.
Get a logo which can be instantly recognised like for instance Apple, Raspberry, RIM .....

Perhaps a strawberry, with some bits bitten off like the apple logo? :p

At this point they are just trying random stuff to fight for relevance. Samsung always tried to release new products as far away as possible from Apple's new releases to avoid the risk of being completely overshadowed by Apple's presentation. This step is a last desperate attempt to directly beat Apple. It's a very risky move — either it works, or they are defeated (not fatally, but if even the last minute rumors about the new 6s overshadows their release, then it sends a very clear message to the public).

And I don't know why they are even heading down this path. I can't understand how they could not see that their success was rooted in the fact that they offered something Apple could not offer (Stuff like a sturdy plastic chassis, an exchangeable battery and expandable memory). Samsung used to be the economic choice, now it's just like Apple, but way worse at basically everything that makes Apple great. Completely naive business strategy and whatever bad happens to them in the next few years, they deserve it.

Interesting, I am not sure historically if iPhones have entered production this early before.

Then again Apple like to release the latest iOS at the same time and I can't imagine iOS 9 being ready by the end of August.

Lets get back to a WWDC release schedule HOORAAH!

You never know - since iOS 9 is not as drastic a change in comparison with other versions, it may be possible. Especially since they've probably had a lot of the stuff in iOS 8 already, just not enabled. Split screen multi-tasking for example.

I don't see them ditching those features. The Note is the absolute power-user phone. As far as Touch-Wiz, I really don't understand the hate. I used to work optimizing cell phone towers and all we used were Samsung Galaxy's whether it was a Verizon, Sprint or AT&T tower. Maybe I just got so used to the os. But I see nothing wrong with it. Personally I just remove all the screens with the nonsense icons and banners and have one or two home-screens with the apps I use the most. Plus, the hardware is so beefed up any lag that occurred in previous iterations is simply not there anymore.
