I don't see them ditching those features. The Note is the absolute power-user phone. As far as Touch-Wiz, I really don't understand the hate. I used to work optimizing cell phone towers and all we used were Samsung Galaxy's whether it was a Verizon, Sprint or AT&T tower. Maybe I just got so used to the os. But I see nothing wrong with it. Personally I just remove all the screens with the nonsense icons and banners and have one or two home-screens with the apps I use the most. Plus, the hardware is so beefed up any lag that occurred in previous iterations is simply not there anymore.

The quality of the features is pretty bad. I have had many Samsung smartphones and when they fail, they fail hard, to the point the phone is unusable because of software errors and fixes that take AGES to be pushed to the user and when they do, they're available in Germany or China or whatever and take MONTHS to come to some random country and when they do, they have to be APPROVED BY THE DAMN CARRIER.
Also, there's so much bloat and useless unremovable garbage taking up system memory that I feel like using a dumb phone from 2001.
Software updates are a NIGHTMARE and never optimized for models as old as 6 months. The Galaxy Note 4 from last year still doesn't have Android 5.0 and 5.1.1 is out for months to fix huge problems from 5.0. Do you know when users gonna get it? Wait on 2016 for software from 2014.
That is just unacceptable. You can't be that blind, sorry.

Hmm. We used the phones pretty intensively and not once did I notice any failures. I'm not aware of these software errors but then again I never update software on any of my gadgets. I remember once updating the galaxy software and it actually removed some useful features like wifi-hotspot!! New software doesn't care about old hardware. It's not a good mix. As far as bloatware, just don't use it. If it's not being used how can it take up system memory or are you talking about storage memory? There's an sd card option for that very reason. But I do understand that most people want the latest software but I just advise against that. If it's not broke I don't see any reason to mess with it. I just see more problems arise after a software update than before. The updates are designed for the newer phones.

EDIT: I'm talking about the OS updates not small software updates. The software updates are great.

The software updates are the fun part of the phone. At times they cause problems but generally updates that bring new features are what keep me coming back.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it."

I've had multiple Samsung android phones and all of them were pretty decent little phones. I had an S2, S3 and Note 2 and my girlfriend still to this day bitches about not having her reliable S3. I have a 6+ now and my reason for getting it was because I loved the screen on the Note 2.

Samsung makes a good phone. They're just trashy and sleazy in the way they market themselves and that's what I believe most people "hate" them. Android in general only slows down if you fill it up with useless **** apps and bloatware can be solved by a root and vanilla rom install.

Don't care anymore about what Samsung does (haven't for a long time). I like my iPhone and its the first phone I don't have the desire to jump from phone to phone with. I hope Samsung launches something decent, the S6 was good .. competition is good, but I don't care still.

That's a still bad move. They are releasing it way too close to Apple's release date. People will wait, what, extra month, to see/buy the new iPhone.

I really like Galaxy Note series, obviously I'm iOS user (iPhone/iPad and ofcourse Mac) but Galaxy Note is the best "phablet" imo.I own iPhone 6,but if I want to go bigger,it's more likely gonna be Note instead of 6 Plus.
I'm just don't get this. If you use iOS, then that means using Android. And while there are a few small things about iOS I'd like to see changed / improved / etc., I couldn't bring myself to use that mess that is Android. It's an awful UI in my opinion.

That's why I got a Nexus 5. Stripped down of any useless features to make it run buttery smooth. I definitely agree with you on the sleaze factor that people don't like with Samsung. I hated the feel of the S3 and even more so the S4 because they literally would always slip out of my hand. That's how I broke my S3 screen. The S6 is now unibody and people are still bashing it. I thought that's what they wanted was that premium feel? If the Note goes the unibody route I think it'll be a nail in the coffin. The S6 and S6 edge don't seem like they are doing to well in the sales department. Samsung sells their Galaxies and Notes on useless gimmick features which, I turn all of them off. I don't want my phone following my eyes and scrolling accordingly! Maybe useful in 10 years but too much big brother for me right now.

Good luck Samesung, are you going to finally unveil your iPhone 6+? Oops I mean Galaxy Note, sorry. Are you also going to remove the removable battery and MicroSD and add a glass back to alienate the customers who got you where you were in the first place?

I should have asked earlier but do people carry an extra battery with them that have these phones? Access to the battery in my experience was mostly handy for a quick device reset. I never need another battery with power always near by but many make a big deal of the feature.

Maybe its so you can replace the battery after its been charged many times and starts to get weak?

I really am curious. I can see the memory card being nice if you want a lot of data on your device versus using a cloud service but once that's installed, do people pop them out and swap them for other cards? Maybe load movies on the card for traveling and take a handful to shuffle though?

I'm not an expert in marketing (I might be wrong) - But I guessed that people might also wait for Apple's move and then decide which device to buy. And while presenting this new phone I don't know if it will be fair to compare it with the iPhone 6 plus.... Most of the time this seems to be the strategy (Buy my phone because we are better that even the rumors of what apple might be doing ;) ).
Those that are dyed in the wool Samsung Note devotees will make the plunge immediately. Those that are on the fence will wait. Those that like Apple will go apple picking in September.

Can't wait! Note 4 was superb with SD Slot and removable battery. I actually don't mind if they stick to something similar in design, so not sure what else they can offer in that department. Hardware will be a beast for sure.
Rumor has it they are getting rid of those features and changing the design.

It's not about android users actually using these features, but rather telling other people about them so they think their phone is "superior."

They need to let the competition with Apple go. It is not benefiting them in any way. Their most loyal users are very upset about the lack of micro SD card slots and removable batteries, and then they will do the same for their best-selling and most popular power-user phone, the Galaxy Note.

If the newest Galaxy S series phone wasn't enough to beat the iPhone 6 in terms of sales (even though it's a phone from last year), then I do not expect the newest Galaxy Note phone to do so, since it's not targeted at the average consumer. I've never liked Samsung, but even I can say they should forget about Apple and concentrate on their other Android rivals before it's too late and people move on.
