Patents aren't about products. The Samsung phones are completely different products, yet they can still infringe on patents by Apple, Microsoft and others.

And no, Apple didn't make their LTE chip. The iPad 3 uses a Qualcomm RTR8600, the iPhone 5 a multitude of different chips :
