Correct me if I'm wrong, but on what planet does Samsung think these won't be declared FRAND? Seems like an incredible waste of time and money by Samsung...
I just came from a Samsung phone.... they not bout to mess my ios experience up bruh. Not on my watch. They going to loose regardless , apple got to much cake to loose a case to patent" reasons.

If Apple, Samsung, and Google could all get along, I bet they could make a BEAUTIFUL product. Im just a dreamer though
It would be like patenting cooking food with heat... Ridiculous!
Its the LTE chip technology they are suing for. HTC and Samsung came up with it or something, idk Im kinda ignorant to that part. But they came up with the technology to connect with LTE. Really stupid.

Didnt apple make their own LTE chip? I mean even if they copied the Samsung LTE chip and added a few other things to make it different, isnt it a different product?
Just because the chip works in a different way in functionality (No LTE and Voice at the same time) doesn't mean the way it connects to the LTE networks isn't infringing on the patents.
All I can see is copy + some changes == innovation in Korean dictionary.
It's a Qualcomm chip in the iPhone 5.Good luck Samsung because little do people know that for the iPhone 5, Apple decided not to use Samsung for the 4G functionality. Instead Apple approached Motorola to make the 4G module for them under license. Samsung you idiots.
No they didn't make it, see above and adding something to a patented product doesn't absolve one from having to pay for the underlying patented components.Didnt apple make their own LTE chip? In fact, I believe that Samsung's lawsuit claims that a couple are essential patents.
FRAND doesn't mean free. The lawsuit is partly because Samsung says they told Apple they infringed on those essential patents back in 2010, but Apple hasn't paid any royalties yet.
If someone uses your patents and doesn't even negotiate for them, an injunction is possible. Although with the slowness of these trials, it could be too late by the time a decision is made. I think Judge Koh gave both sides an extension until at least the end of the year (?) to gather evidence.
The people that will boycott Samsung products are the same people that were not going to buy one at the first place...

They can't afford it
Yep i know it doesn't mean free, i just meant wouldn't Samsung be forced to license if they're declared FRAND? And wouldn't they be just by the nature of the patents? If they weren't, it would set a precedent that Samsung can pick and choose who they want to license to and theoretically get a monopoly on 4g phones.
Unless I'm mistaking what FRAND means, and what SEPs are, i see no way these won't be declared FRAND.
If Apple refused to pay royalties, then that makes sense
