The analogy has no relevance to your original comment, but whatever...
You were implying that by buying their products I am allowing it to happen which means I support their policies. So anyone buying a Volkswagen car after that scandal supports their policies as well

If they're so good how come they can't ship with a flagship feature enabled, I'm looking at you Bixby...
I am sure Bixby is down everyone's list of priorities when buying an S8. Google Assistant is superior anyway. Apple's Potrait mode wasnt ready on launch either.

The S8 is definitely gonna be a record breaker for Samsung

Okay, not going to argue over this one. The veracity speaks for itself.

They need it after their mobile division lost billions.

Those billions are peanuts for Samsung. Apple must have recouped those losses for them when they made Samsung their sole supplier for OLED. Amd that's not considering both the S8 and Note 8

That's not how corporate accounting works. But I'm glad you don't care and minimize the amount of money Samsung mobile division lost. The Samsung board is happy you consider it peanuts.

But popularity and profits don't prove that. EG: Nobody would ever say that Backstreet boys are the best most talented musicians in the world. Yet they frequently topped the charts, sold out concerts and earned millions from fans.

Popularity doesn't prove quality.

And who defines quality?

Say I prefer backstreet boys music over Mozart or Beethoven or Frank Sinatra. Saying that one music is of better quality than the other is a meaningless metric. I know which music I prefer listening to, and for me, it's about which option brings me the most utility and enjoyment.

What's the point of forcing myself to listen to a piece of music I simply don't enjoy just because someone else arbitrarily decided that it was of better quality than the music which I do enjoy listening to?

Same with smartphones. What's the point of going with the brand with the least profit margins? What's the benefit of presumably getting the best deal on the parts used if they don't come together to give me the user experience that I want?

i have been loving my galaxy phones the last few years. i owned every iPhone between the 3G > 5s but got tired of iOS. I honestly prefer Android right now. I will probably get an S8 this year and maybe get an iPhone next year. They need to seriously redesign the iPhone because it looks so ancient compared to the S7/S7 Edge/Note 7/S8/S8 Plus. I know they are working on a redesign but I'll wait for the iPhone "8S" next year.

Apple company financials seem to disagree about the milking the customers part.
Apple financials probably find the MacBook Pro and the Mac Pro cheap too. Let's raise a few hundred dollars so people think they buy premium
[doublepost=1492098897][/doublepost]
He probably doesn't.
If he doesn't he must be a praising everything Apple does too... Those people never look behind borders is my opinion ;)

"Milking the customer" is pejorative hyperbole. You may feel you're being "milked" but please don't speak for me. I'm very happy with value/price ratio.

And who are "those" people? Nothing like placing labels...

Unfortunately I can't start a poll here. But I'm curious how many here are really satisfied with apple's pricing. Especially on computers.

There is no"feeling" . It's a fact. 40% plus profit margins on a product, 32gb storage , an LCD display

Yes I bet even the shareholders are happy because Samsung continues to earn record profits despite that small bump in the road. You should really give this article a read. It's quite interesting

"Samsung: From Massive Recall to Major Profit in One Quarter"

https://www.wsj.com/articles/samsun...ng-profit-in-more-than-three-years-1483660897

Highest operating profit in 3 years.

But again, you're not speaking for me or the other customers and investors that contributed to apples profits and net worth.

So the board is happy that Samsung mobile division will be in the red for the next 10 years?
[doublepost=1492169240][/doublepost]
Their computers are a joke. Here's a $5660 Mac Pro getting destroyed by a $2000 Ryzen PC with a GTX 1080 in creativity benchmarks...
Doesn't explain why Mac sales are up.

Its immaterial what you or I feel. When an iPhone is bought,Apple earns a near 50% profit margin on that iPhone. And since 2014 apart from removal of the bands and headphone jack there has been no change done to the design and on the contrary old chassis are being recycled as new with no price drops like old wine in a new bottle. The iPad Pro is STILL using a TouchID from 2014 despite costing over 700 dollars. This is the definition of milking.

The board is bullish. Ask them why. They know more about company internals than you

Just like the surface,an increase from 20 units sold to 30 is a 150% increase. And the sales are irrelevant. I just proved how an Apple computer curently on sale today costing over 5000 bucks is losing to an $400 CPU and a $500 video card. Even milking the customer is an understatement here

It's immaterial as well what you feel about it. Apple stock is at an all time high and last quarter was one for the books with a cash reserve of $200B. Customers are buying, in spite of your "opinion".

the board is "pissed off". The CEO went to jail and Samsung mobile divison lost billions. Apple is looking at buying into semi-conductor manufacturing which should lessen the amount of money spent on outside firms. It's all fine and dandy that Walmart, state grid and China national Petroleum are doing fine but none of them are competitive to Apple. Samsung is neither but the mobile division which lost billions is.

The benchmarks are irrelevant also, as ibm proved toc of a Mac is less than Windows and that's why ibm is dumping windows.

Never stated what I felt. Apple enjoys a near 50% margin on the product you buy. Its clear whether customers are being milked or not

Even in phone sales, the Galaxy S8 is not only going to recover all the losses of the Note 7 but break all the records previously set by the S7 Edge( Its already shattered the previous preorder records. http://wccftech.com/galaxy-s8-preorder-units-record/ ) and thats excluding the Note 8 . Samsung as usual will be the only manufacturer making profits on Android

We already know Apple is going to always reign supreme in mobile SOC like Intel on desktops. Now if they make their own OLED displays and flash storage then we will talk

The benchmarks are irrelevant also, as ibm proved toc of a Mac is less than Windows and that's why ibm is dumping windows.

Who brought IBM into this? I dont give a hoot what random companies buy. An Apple computer is being sold for $5600 and its losing to a $2000PC. This is unacceptable. For the price I am paying for it, it better destroy all PCs out there

No, value is completely feeling. There is no factual thing for determining value.

Stating customers are "being milked" is stating something. If it's immaterial to me it's immaterial to you.

Nothing like putting the cart before the horse.

Samsung is going to see a serious revenue decrease.

You did as Mac has lower tco than windows. It may be unacceptable to you but since Mac sales are up it seems it acceptable to the customers.

Articles like this are a waste here.

If news is posted that suggests a company is doing better than Apple in some category, out come the excuses.

If the same article were posted and cited Apple as doing better than the competition. It's legit.

Stating customers are "being milked" is stating something. If it's immaterial to me it's immaterial to you.
Paying almost double of what a product costs is milking.

Nothing like putting the cart before the horse.

Samsung is going to see a serious revenue decrease.
So far what you are saying is defying reality. The Galaxy S8 has smashed the preorder records set by the S7 and is on its way to becoming Samsung's most successful model till date. Doesn't seem like the Note 7 is having any impact on the S8 sales

You did as Mac has lower tco than windows. It may be unacceptable to you but since Mac sales are up it seems it acceptable to the customers.
Don't even know what tco is

However what I do know is that a 5000 Mac lost in benchmarks to a 2K PC in creativity benchmarks. And when computers are reviewed benchmarks are a staple.

Congratulations to Apple for increasing Mac sales from 30 to 40.
