I have had every iPhone made so I guess you can consider me an Apple FanBoy. Lol. I also have the Samsung S21 Ultra for work. There is no comparison. The Samsung display is far superior. I welcome the new display to the iPhone.

Can look at my Tik Tok videos better. woot.

Lol Tik Tok is a phase, not a real social media platform. It's going to go away nobody but children age 8-14 use it. Instagram and Youtube is going to dominate since ALL age groups use it. Tik Tok is a failed platform. I'd say another 2-3 years and then it'll die down. Tik Tok is the next myspace. Enjoy the Samsung display watching tik Tok for another 2-3 years.

Apple has many times stated they bring new tech in their springs - not necessarily the first but when matured enough.

firsts:
Incredible glass in their stores, highly recyclable materials, closed loop in terms of source materials, LED backlit keyboards, high resolution, 17” laptops, no floppy drive, no CD/DVD drives, USB (iMac OG), wifi to notebooks, lcd in laptops or desktops.

refined:
High resolution screens, Oled screens with good brightness, smart watches, etc.
Incredible.... glass? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️And the rest of it? Highly recyclable materials?

It’s a marketing ploy for Android-based devices with manufacturer/user set display refresh rates.

Some examples:
• Web pages -- which often have a lot of text, small elements, and a wide variety of content that’s not seamless
• Fast-paced games
• Sketching and note taking with Apple Pencil

That’s the beauty of ProMotion, it’s variable. During the majority of usage, the display rate can be low, but instances when it does matter, the rate is cranked up.

My concern is the added cost — has it come down enough to be worthwhile for the majority of people? Those few beneficial cases are even fewer on the iPhone and the iPhone (Pro) price is already $999+ (USD).
Agreed. No doubt there are benefits from the ProMotion screen. However, whether or not it makes a noticeable improvement in everyday usage for all users is up for debate in my opinion. For me, I could not perceive any noticeable difference between my iPad Pro and previous iPad. I certainly wouldn't want the feature on my iPhone if it meant an increase in price. This constant need for higher specs is so tiresome in my opinion. But I understand thats what a lot of people want to justify upgrading their devices.

Good. 120hz should have been in iPhone 12 Pro, frankly. It isn't a crucial feature, but when paying a premium price one should get premium features.

Do you think it’ll be “notchless” this year? Or ever?
that’s when I want to upgrade from my XR which has been my least favorite iPhone to date. The 6 was nice but the first gen “SE” was my favorite.
I hope they keep making the mini. That’s the size I want next

I wasn't being offensive, just matter of fact - your comment was selective in reading all I posted. You chose what to comment on besides all I listed.
And again, what is your point? Most of those are nothing of the "first" 🙄🙄🙄

Refresh rate on such a small screen isn't going to be noticeable like it is on t.v. That is a fact. If you read and reply to my post in the proper context it was written, there would be no need to bring up console gaming units etc. as I didn't say all refresh rates are of no use.

I am not part of "you people. " I speak for myself.

Telling me to move along to somewhere else is rude. I post where I want when I want.
120hz display is the one hardware feature I missed the most when I switched from S20 to 12Pro.

probably you have never used a smartphone with 120 Hz....
You are right. I haven't. I don't see how 120 Hz would be practical on a small device like an iPhone, especially the mini (if said feature were available).

I liken it to people complaining about the lack of 4K on an iPhone when the eye can't distinguish such on such a small screen to begin with.

hahahahahahahaa so you are saying something is useless BUT YOU HAVE NOT USED/SEEN it....Go grab a 120hz device and THEN tell us your opinion...I have not used a 4k smartphone(Sony) so I CANNOT say if 4k is useful or more distinguishable than 2k or anything...Jesus...

The human eye CAN see the difference between 60 Hz and 120 Hz on phone screens. Your analogy fails on its central point.

A) As stated in the article I linked to and
B) What does that have to do with what I was commenting on?

Maybe read before posting or do you get paid by the post?
You accused another person of making a false statement while you were the one doing it.

You accused another person of making a false statement while you were the one doing it.
He wrote “Apple does not create any screen hardware” and I responded with a link to an article where it states “Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxid, or LTPO, is an OLED display backplane technology developed by Apple”.

How is his statement not false? How am I making a false statement? Seems pretty straightforward he posted information that is clearly incorrect and I provided a link correcting his mistake. And then you came along and I sincerely have no idea what you are going on about. I can only imagine you have either confused me with someone else or you are simply nuts. At his point the odds seem about 50/50.
