Sounds tedious. Even DJ Koh can’t even figure out what the use cases are. A product in search of a purpose and market.
which reminds me.. whatever happened Apple's exclusive licensing of LiquidMetal tech?

Folding a screen is not the same as folding a hinge.I have a 15 year old Samsung A-650 foldable phone, one of the first cell phones with a camera. It still folds just fine, boots up, and the battery still charges. If I could find a replacement battery I'd reactivate the phone with my carrier and carry it around just for the novelty. Here's a photo of one for sale (not mine, which I'll keep.). It was sort of novel to watch people's reaction when you asked them to pose for phone.

Based on what I have seen released from the company.
No, not every feature is gimmicky, but it can be at first. Usually a feature is worked on and perfected over time. Fast charging, like you mentioned, was part of the reason Samsung phones blew up a few years back.
Note 7 was an iterative phone with not a lot of new features. There is no information to confirm it was rushed. They probably should have taken their time with that instead of rushing it out the door so they could be first.
Oh Microled, I forgot about that, Samsung will have the first commercial available Microled product in Q1 2019.Apple is working on foldable displays, new battery tech, micro LED, stuff like that. If you think Samsung is the only innovator out there, that’s fine, sounds like you are on the platform you should be.
samsung develops this first
then apple makes some superficiai changes and beautifies it
then samsung says "APPLE COPIED US" but also makes the same changes as Apple
3 years Apple will copy it, sure it will be better... apples only inovation now days is talking emojis.
You cannot fit that in your pocket.
You said that this technology was worthless for phones.Who said anything about anything fitting in your pocket?
Well the article I posted shows you are wrong.
Incorrect. The phones blew up because of battery defect that had no relation to fast charging.

Also the foldable displays they are working on are the ones they bought from Samsung most likely.
There's probably a bending radius built into the hinge, I'm thinking. If it was a straight 180 degree fold the display would show a visible crease down the middle at all times when open and like you say, wreck pretty quickly (due to material fatigue.)I’m racking my brains to think of even one product that relies on a flat to 180degree fold in ANY Material!
I still don't understand the people saying they can't see a use for this. Literally a 2-in-1 tablet/phone IS the use for this. Carrying something similar dimensions to a phone, then saying "hey I'd like to watch this on a bigger screen" and folding it out, sounds appealing. Though, we can argue the feasibility and quality of this experience but if it's done right and well it would be a killer device.
One random article doesn’t prove a point.
It wasn't fast charging at all, you are wrong, get over it.Apparently Samsung couldn’t pinpoint the issue, but it was a combination of things
As long as they are first, I suppose you’ll be happy.
I personally don't care.I personally don’t mind Apple taking their time in all of these areas as they usually get it right.
Samsung is an impressive manufacturer of components, with great scale, I do have to give them that. There’s no reason to get so upset about my opinion on the company.
There’s always a lot of enthusiasm for whatever Apple isn’t doing.
...
It’s just categorically cool to slag on Apple, especially now that they are no longer the underdogs.
The article quotes Samsung's Mobile CEO man it indefinitely proves my point and show that you are wrong.
Well there is not reason for you to be upset about the fact that your opinion is wrong (based on indisputable proof I provided).
That is simply disingenuous.
Samsung has been talking for years about flexible, foldable displays. Only recently Samsung has been talking about an actual foldable phone. And when Samsung Mobile's CEO is saying they will launch such a phone soon I see no reason to doubt or question his statements.
Best of luck to you in your reading comprehension efforts. You said that this technology was worthless for phones.
I'm aware of that. My response was to the following assertion:Folding a screen is not the same as folding a hinge.
"Neat, but phones are too small to make use of it"Best of luck to you in your reading comprehension efforts.
Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to Samsung you go.THIS is what I want to see in my next iPhone! Not another "13% thinner" or "7 inch" or "Diamond Glass" blah blah blah same ol design since the iPhone 6.

Also Samsung issued a report about the causes for Note 7's defect.

Me? Not I all, you are the one that tries to bash them for the simple fact that they are the first at something and you also trying to insinuate a lot of things that are not true.
I personally don't care.

I have no interest in in folding a screen either, what is interesting is being able to have a bigger screen.I think it's interesting from a "how to do it" standpoint, but I have zero interest in folding a screen.
