Every time foldable and especially rollable phones come up I think of this thing.View attachment 1979802
Reminds me of the "Global" from Earth: Final Conflict

I wasn't referring to samsung specifically but competition in general. If someone else isn't trying to push the boundaries, then why innovate? Why does intel need to go spend money and go above 4 cores/8 threads when the competition doesn't even reach half of the single core performance? Why spend more money in materials in a bigger screen when everyone else is using a small screen phone. Why improve iPadOS when the competition doesn't even come close? Just milk the current tech, slap some marketing lingo like mega ultra platinum plus 80 COREZ and let the cash roll in. It takes money to innovate and often carries a ton of risk (e.g. butterfly keyboards on macbooks, trashcan mac pro). This of course leads to stagnation but if someone's trying to push the limits, there's not much choice but to push forward, which is good for us: The early adopters sort out the issues and the rest of us jump in when it's stable.without samsung huawei or other of many already started 4" 5" and so on...only Apple under Steve was stuck for 3.5"
Making a bigger display i wouldnt call innovation...the quality of the display its a different thing
Intel was because of the silicon brain Johny Srouji, now is at Apple for a decade and we see how its going
Again, this is a main device nowadays, people everyday use this , its something that you can count on...you cannot say "gotta start somewhere...is like when car industry innovated airbags but they weren't reliable at all and people got hurt...again, for prototype "gotta start somewhere" is ok, but when you charge a price, the consumers must rely on their devices daily
Sure, but not everyone has them, and it wouldn't be a compelling argument for the scroll phone if it needed a second piece of tech to make it even usable in a real world basis.Smart watches exist that perform this function way better
What would you rather use to build an empire: bricks, candy bars, clamshells, or scrolls?Had no idea Flip and Fold were that successful, although my doctor had a Flip the last time I saw him. I’m more of a candy bar person, but Apple seems to be moving in the direction of building bricks.
All they have to do is buy InWith Corp and they do not need much more.By the time they get this figured out Apple be onto on screen contacts that we wear in our eye![]()
haha thanks for the laugh, Apple making reliable stuff... maybe once, but users have always been beta testers ( NEVER BUY REV A Apple products has always been a mantra).Samsung lets users pay to be alpha testers. Cheap labor and the impossibility of tech or warranty support make this approach successful for them. For the most part, Apple’s focus is electronic appliances. They may not have the most features, but they are reliable.
Exactly, the waviness on the screen is too distracting, and you can notice it on every expandable screen phone that exists so far.The main problem with all of these is that the display is just never entirely flat and even. There is always a crease or some unevenness.
The notch itself doesn’t bother me but we need a new design from Apple. Can’t be using same old design over and over.Meanwhile at Apple, notches are still a thing, and having a punch hole selfie camera and Face ID pill shaped cutout is going to be considered a ‘Pro’ feature on the 14 Pro models.
It is not courage to use your customers as beta testers. Innovation is only important when it is useful in any meanigful way. Im still waiting for my rollable TV that was shown by LG some years ago.You have to admire Samsung’s courage releasing innovation like this.
Did anyone has seen them in the wild yet? As in ever?"The existing Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 have been relatively successful additions to Samsung's smartphone family, "
