I would like to buy an Ultra if they were slimmer and lighter. The S25, while better than the S24 Ultra, still feels huge to me in the hand, absolutely unable to use in comfortably with just one hand.

Brand new S25U on its way to me from the company I'm currently contracting with; so I've sold the Fold 7 on - it really is a superb phone, but I don't need 2 flagship phones, so the Fold goes tomorrow
I've bought a renewed 13 Pro Max via Amazon UK today to have as my business mobile as it does my nut in having 2 numbers on one phone; £300 isn't bad for the 13 Pro Max in Alpine Green 😉
Just wish the company had sent me a Mac instead of the fecking horrible Dell laptop they sent me 🤦🏼😂 - I'm nearly 15 years out of using MS/Windows; the screens horrible too!

I had no idea I'd be getting a phone TBH; the contract states we get reimbursed for calls (ie they pay your monthly sim charges - I'm on Three £15 per month unlimited calls/texts in the UK etc)
Then got an email this morning with tracking and I've an S25U on its way...
Makes my life easier 😀 It's £1k back in my back pocket too

I've had this phone for a half year now and I do like it. I don't really see much of a difference between this or the S24 Ultra though. Does anyone know of any great sites for Android/Samsung news? Everything is about the foldable or that Tri-Fold device, but I don't even know if I'm supposed to update this phone or not. I guess if you have an Iphone or Samsung, if nothing is happening then it's not really an exciting experience. I also don't want to pay for yet another new Phone this year so I'm just wondering ways to not get bored with this one I guess.
Can I ask do the Ultra phones have anything like reachability built into there UI, as the one thing that’s stopped me getting one, now they aren’t so square ergonomics wise, is the screen size?

What is this situation on the Google Play update? I haven't gotten one since the September update and since I don't really know where to get Android news, I figured i would ask here. Are Google and Samsung fighting?
For me personally, I’ll upgrade to the s26 but there’s not much Samsung need to do to improve based on the s25 ultra. Probably best phone I’ve had throughout all the years I’ve had smart phones. I’m almost sad that I’ll upgrade but there’s pull will be way way too hard to fight 🤣

Not sure what's happening behind the scenes.... but my guess there's something in One UI that's causing a delay with these Google Play updates. The most recent Google Play update is back in November and that's within One UI 8.5 beta... because every Galaxy phone has not seen an update this year.

By the way, ever since I started using Niagara full time, it is hard to go back to the regular One UI. Once you know how Niagara works and really get into it, it's a fun and much simpler experience.

My guess we will some action come time the S26 launches at the end of this month since that’s where Samsung priority is at the moment.
I’ve seen people have nothing but good things to say about using Niagara launcher… but my issue is that I can’t use the taskbar on the inner display of the Galaxy Fold with it.
And @Bkdodger suggested a method to use it on the outer screen… but I prefer having something that’s built-in natively.

Yeah, I would think the type of phone depends on what you want to use. Since I'm using the ultra, I just worry about what is on the main screen.

Got this Brodeo magnetic phone wallet to try with the new case and see if I like that combo better than the Spigen slider 2-3 card (non-mag) case that I've been using for over a year.

Finally got the January Google Play update. Anyone know when 8.5 will release publicly? I know a week from today is the event. Does it usually release shortly after the event?

No one knows when One UI 8.5 will be released… Samsung hasn’t public announced their roadmap. Rumors have it come in Q2.. basically in April.

That's a long beta process if it's April. I'm not complaining considering we went from 7 to 8 in a short time, but I thought they did it like Apple does where they have a big event announcing the new phones and then a short time after that's when the UI updates.

Unfortunately, that's where Samsung cannot copy Apple.
Apple deploys software to all their devices simultaneously... Samsung does it in stages, which you would think they could release it to the S25 series shortly after the event given it's to one set of group. But it's not necessarily too far off... next month the S26 series is released, then the following month One UI 8.5 is available.
