I think Apple can deal with competition from Samsung, among the others. Apple is just tired of having their ideas and core tech ripped off by everyone and is finally trying to put a stop to it.

If Samsung's products didn't look so much like Apple's, I'm sure the lawsuits would stop.

Samsung should create a new product category instead of trying to compete and failing over and over.

Good for them that they have many subdivisions, which I would assume each run as a separate business. Their display subdivision is doing excellent.

It would be better if Samsung and Apple got along; they need each other (sort of, as Apple may never tie the knot to any vendor).

Samsung may have great technology but Apple has the brains to turn that technology into successful products.

Hang on, what about all those endless links to how corrupt Samsung is, what type of company they are.... sorry but they all painted a picture of a company one would want nothing to do with.

Put their screen into the new Ipad, and they are okay cause they are a supplier all the sudden.

Sorry mate, but that is extremely hypercritical given the bashing you have given them WOW! So much to sticking to your guns.

I took his post as if he was trying to downgrade Samsung to supplier only title. Kinda like a cow(samsung) to macdonalds (Apple).

well now that we know the next samsung tablet will have the retina display. I will be very interested to see how they handle the battery life without making their design too fat.

I just cancelled my order for new iPad. I refuse to support the Samsung legal warchest by purchasing products with their components inside. I'll wait until Apple uses a different display maker later this summer in the new iPad.

Wonderful, now someone less hypocritical can get their iPad sooner.

Oh, all those :apple: devices you own... most likely paid for a good 2 hours of horse ***** patent attorney's time.

But totally different right?

why are you continuing that conversation further? So what if he wants to cancel because he doesn't like a company.

If you had an opportunity to cancel a food order because you heard someone didn't wash their hands while making it. You would cancel it too.

It's not like no other companies will ever match the current Samsung retina either. If he wants to wait let him.

Most people probably don't really know much about the situation, so they're answering based on lack of factual information. Apple and Samsung have been working together on a component level for some time now. I like Sony televisions and swore I would never buy anything else, but couldn't resist a B.F. deal for a 46" Samsung, which everyone who see's it agrees looks amazing. I bought an iMac, it had an LG screen, which was always highly regarded for computer displays, and it had a yellowish tinge to it and a grey band at the bottom. I then bought a MacBook Pro and hated the LG screen that came with it, it looked washed out. Then I bought a MacBook Air and was amazed a the screen quality, as were others who seemed annoyed my Air looked more vivid than their MBPs, only to find out the MBA had a Samsung screen. Same goes with NAND flash, the Samsung SSD that I was lucky enough to get in my MBA is supposedly faster than the Toshiba equivalent some users received.

Point being Samsung makes high quality COMPONENTS, and to be honest are very good at "ripping off" the Mac aesthetic in the PC laptop market. Apple wants top notch components and Samsung makes them, end of story. Apple hates Samsung products that they feel are rip-offs of Apple designs, they don't hate the QUALITY of the products they make. Same goes with automotive partnerships. Look a Subaru and Scion (Toyota). They're competitors yet are releasing the SAME car next year both with slight variations sold under their own brands.

Stop whining and enjoy the new high quality Samsung retina display in your launch-day iPad3. If you hate Samsung that much, enjoy the one in your iPad2, if not, then boycott them all and enjoy the one in your Mac laptop!

SOOOO many butthurt apple defense force in here, it's so funny.

Just to put salt on your wounds, Samsung rocks.

Deal with it.

BTW, is apple gonna troll Samsung with more patent lawsuit?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

very well said. Samsung just doesn't cut it when they try to design or innovate. Thinking about that Beam phone and the new tv 8000 something *shudder*

I thought we were talking about Tablets and SmartPhones, weren't we?

They do have amazing and unique products, but it seems that some Samsung subdivisions lack creativity and prefer to become copycats instead.

I'm sure what you posted won't be too popular here, but it is true. Samsung sucks, but it's ok as long as it benefits Apple. How many posts have you read here wishing that Samsung would go out of business, etc? Comical, isn't it?

You forgot the other comments - that Samsung doesn't invent anything or innovate. They just steal.

Am I the only one who read this comment and immediately concluded that this can only possibly be sarcasm and/or trollbait?

Because if it isn't sarcasm, then I cannot fathom the thought process which could have allowed any person to honestly believe that this position was rational and correct.

nice post. My next tv will probably be a Samsung just because they are the best display manufacturer. Dislike the morals of the company but it is not enough to stop me buying their TVs :p

Well you better throw your iPhone to the garbage bin because it has Samsung made A5 chip inside :p :apple:

lol who knows, it is well in the past of this forum now anyway :p

The FB's can say whatever they want, but Samsung makes the best displays in the world. If you want the best iPad, you're about stuck using Samsung.

Absolutely. I've been shopping for a new TV and was not very opinionated about the manufacturer since I am upgrading a Trinitron to a flat screen LCD. But then I saw a Samsung LCD/LED screen and was amazed by it.

Samsung probably secured billions of dollars worth of contracts to supply Apple with what they need. That spells a little death in the face of Samsung's display production competitors. Money from an enemy is still money baby! :D

Samsung sust split the company between consumer and components side for this reason. The guys on the components side of Samsung absolute love Apple because they make them huge commissions in sales. The folks on the consumer side of Samsung hate Apple. Apple always thought their status as "Samsung's best customer" on the supply side would keep Samsung out of the Android phone/tablet camp, but I don't blame Samsung considering Microsoft is just now getting ready to offer some decent licensable alternatives.

Apple does NOT want Samsung wiped off the face of the earth. Apple wants Samsung's tablets gone.

Actually, Apple is not a fan of anything Samsung does that runs Android: tablets or phones. They'd like Samsung to stick to TV's and components and Windows-based stuff. They especially did not like it when Samsung's consumer stuff looked too much like Apple's stuff (down to charing adapters and packaging). The rounded-rectangle thing is only a secondary reaction to the trade-dress stuff that raised Apple's ire. Nowadays, the Samsung stuff has mostly departed from that Apple-clone packaging.

that's not true. Apple want's Android wiped off the face of the earth. Samsung just got in the way by making devices that actually propelled Android growth.

Yup. Apple did not like their #1 supplier consorting with the enemy (Google).

For my money, Samsung makes the best HDTVs on the market, so I'm fine with them making the display on my new iPad.

Absolute, without a doubt, the best freaking displays around. I just had a sales person at Fry's try to convince me that a full-array LED from Sony that cost $5400 was better than Samsung's LCD/LED-backlit 8000-series display. Hey kept saying "see how much better this looks" and I kept responding "no, the Samsung looked better". The Samsung cost like $2000 less.

I'm kinda hoping that Apple comes out with a TV, but if they do, I would like the display to be manufactured by Samsung. If the display was just a commodity then Sharp and LG would be producing far better televisions (though LG is probably the best display for the money in HDTV, though Samsung is best and Sony is second place).

I would certainly hope it was just sarcasm. No one in their right mind would think like that. If that was the case, don't buy from anybody, not even a PC or phone as Samsung also makes memory chips and more than you could imagine. LOL!

NO ONE cares.
