Consumers don’t care about smart phone aesthetics. All these phones generally look the same anyways, what they do care about, is the platform they belong to, either iOS or android. I’ve never heard anyone outside a tech forum form discuss the aesthetic’s on a smart phone phone. Your post is a clear example of an exaggerated opinion.

I disagree. I like beautiful devices, including phones. I like that my Note8 isn't fugly.

As much (inserting the Apple apologist FAVORITE word here:) whining as I hear regarding the camera setup on the leaked iPhones, aesthetics matter.

Isn't this an Apple forum? Form over function IS Apple's bread and butter in many cases.

Yes, we do.

If you are not interested in releases of new technology, why are you wasting time hanging around on a forum site dedicated to technology? There are plenty of other forums on the Internet dedicated to other topics.

I'm very interested in new technology. These new smartphones aren't.

People on 4G in crowded places do not get 30Mbps. Bandwidth is an issue which is addressed by 5G. Sure 4G is pretty good, still 5G is better. You may find yourself, say, at a stadium/concert etc. with 4G users not being able to connect while 5G users enjoying their phones. Not super critical but still...

So the general public is going to buy a 5G phone because of the few times a year they go to a ball game? A ball game where WiFi is already being massively improved. And...why again do I need high data throughput when I'm at a ball game?

Don't tell me 5G is needed in congested cities, it doesn't penetrate walls well and will be crap inside buildings. So, unless you are doing a ton of multi-stream 8K video watching while walking the streets of NYC, I still don't see the need for 5G.

Let me know when they have. I'm still waiting.

Samsung is smart to launch a month before the iPhone. They can try to sell a few before the tsunami that is the iPhone comes out and steals the spotlight from virtually everyone.
I mean to be fair, Apple is going to launch with the same iPhone design. Again. For the third year in a row.

Oh, plus an additional camera which, we all hope, doesn't look like the supposed renders.

Samsung's been beating/on par with Apple in terms of hardware design for a few years now. Apple "caught up" with the iPhone X (if you don't mind the notch), however they are content with sitting on the same two-year old design again this year so Samsung will begin to pull away again. Apple's really gotta step it up. Thing is, people keep purchasing these rehashed iPhones. So when Apple looks at the bottom line, they have no incentive to keep updating their designs frequently.

5G improves overall throughput. This allows to serve more customers. In crowded places, it's not about having higher speed, it's about having any speed.

I personally used to be more about aesthetics with smart phones, but I think that has waded over the years now, being that they primarily do look the same. People don’t take time to appreciate the back of a smart phone, because it’s in a case anyways. Regardless, everyone’s different, but I still think what their choosing is the [color and the platform].

It's all about selling the uneducated public on it, my friend! Gotta bring home the bucks!

Agreed. I'm willing to put up with certain things for the sake of the platform.

I'm glad Apple's competition decided to make devices beautiful as wel as functional, something Apple has been forgetting of late. That way I don't have to suffer too much until Apple comes around. :)

5G operates on various wavelengths including those used by 4G. It's not just about the millimeter wave bands. 5G also offers better tech on the traditional wave bands (improving bandwidth).

AT&T rolled out 5G“e”(faux) in my area and this is speed I get.

.2 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up and that is with good reception.

Yeah, sure. As if the release of a new iPhone has excited anyone in the last decade.

Newsflash: The smartphone market is over-saturated, "matured" and just piss-boring.

Internet traffic and countless news articles would disagree with you. There's always a massive spike around the iPhone launch.

Smartphones are not tablets. Nobody holds them by the bezels. One would have to have really small hands to be able to hold an iPhone by the bezel :)

There were at least two important NFC based features before Apple Pay: Google Wallet and automatic pairing of smartphones to photo/video cameras (and other devices).
Yeah but they weren't critical "omg I can't use this phone anymore" features for most people. Hell, living in Canada I'm used to being behind US for all wallet-related features..

I own Samsung Note 9 and I will definitely switch to the new iPhone. Many options but few are working properly.
I got the Note 9, works perfectly, what's wrong with yours? The only thing I hate is the stupid curved screen design, other than that its a pretty solid phone.

Good to see Samsung finally getting rid of the old fashioned headphone jack on the Note 10 - - 'bout time!

Or Microsoft, for that matter. The Surface Studio is gorgeous.

Well, maybe not beat, but I'd go as far as to say match, and in the case of the Studio, one-up.

The Surface Studio might look stunning, but thermal management in these computers is beyond salvageable. They only know two fan levels: vacuum cleaner and jet engine.

I’ve owned a Surface Studio 2 and these things are so ridiculously loud, unless you work next to a busy road and only have single glazing, you won’t be able to focus on your work.

I might switch to note 10.... depending on price. Although i still use ios, i might have one as a secondary phone.

The iPhone is so much prettier! Am I the only one who thinks the note looks somewhat like a 90’ tec-toy.
The esthetics and attention to detail is nowhere near the iPhone - I really hope that Apple can keep up their level of design now that Ive is leaving...
