Not naive, just bored/frustrated that anyone that disagrees with an "Apple fan" gets labeled as a paid shill.

Some of these "disagreements" are more outright attacks on Apple and their fan base... on an Apple fan site no less so it shouldn't surprise you. And like I said, Samsung employees are all over these boards and others so it should be even less surprising.

Well ymmv, but just goes to show that it can be done. I would have thought if we had this in the UK, then the yanks would have something similar, as well as other countries. Just showing you don't have to rely on old tech like IR.

Just for information. My pebble can control VLC on my mac, which is airplaying to my telly, so I can control my telly with my pebble.

Oh, I knew that it could happen. I'm just saying the IR blaster hits more bases, and is more likely to be able to be used.

I will admit.......... (being from the UK as Jonny Ive)
I don't get the HEAVY TECH design Samsung keep going for.
Yes, it's great they are trying, but from my own UK Design appreciation eye, this does not seem mass market, it's a bit old school tech looking.

Personally I would probably go in one of these directions:

These are more bands than watches really, but it gives you the whole band to put the tech in.

This one: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/01/22/iWatch_concept.gif
Would be my favorite. Understated and to me, very smart.

Either this route, or really make it look like a real watch, just replace the mechanics with a screen under the glass. but that's a bit limiting

Exactly the same goes the other way, more so in fact.

People can have a Mac and an android device. You dont have to have to be exclusive to Apple to post on these forums.

You say that, but my mum, who is not a techie, was the one that told me about the sky box being controlled from the iPhone, she uses it all the time. I'd say thats not a niche thing like you appear to think.

The only thing that prevents it is that... not all companies support it. :p

This is a tech site concerning all things Apple related hence the site title Mac Rumors (Rumours). I agree with a previous poster about aficionados of the seemingly main rival brand out in force influencing discussions to be favourable to their new hardware release. The tone in this forum has been largely dictated by supporters of either a rival os maker or this company. I think it is time that those of us who are keen on all things Apple related take back essentially a forum overrun by such groups who are at best part of a market plan to unseat a culture they are unable to replicate.

The references made to having adult discussions is also a fallacy. It is acutely clear that whenever these rival companies are mentioned the fervour with which they are supported illustrates the degree of trolling taking place here with Apple aficionado's being targeted and lambasted. There is no balance in discussions in these forums in order for it to be adult.

There is a carefully motivated plan to draw opinion that will create a snow ball effect to deter the thought of Apple as a forward thinking company both in hardware and in software in the mind of the consumer. You only need to read a dozen or more posts to see this is happening.

As for the behaviours of this company - well there are other sources that clearly point this out and unsurprisingly you'll also find
the same type of rehearsed response that is synonymous with their business practices.

So where is this iWatch that your accusing Samsung of copying?

It's a rumor. People really believe that Samsung, a multibillion dollar company, is basing their products on rumors. These same people will say the Pro tablet was based on the rumored iPad Pro.

The original Gear had a camera. The new model just repositions it from the strap to the main watch body.

You misquoted and misread the article. They didn't say it NOW comes with a camera, but rather "it now comes with an IR blaster and the camera has been MOVED...".

What a childish way of thinking.

So going by your logic, only people that own Apple products and are pro Apple can post here?

What about people in the following situations:

Mac & Android tablet
Mac & Android phone
iPad & Android phone
iPhone & Android tablet
etc etc etc

Are they not allowed to come here and post? What about people that think the rivals are better in certain situations?

From your post, it appears that all you want to pro Apple comments.

As I said earlier, its a struggle to have an adult conversation with some people on here.

From what it sounds, he wants AppleInsider.

Not just any old rumours, but ones from people who have a proven track record, on most occasions, along with analysts. Its funny that after any rumour about what apple are doing, Samsung conveniently then produce a device or feature that is taking that same idea. All they are doing now is rushing these out so they appear to be the ones doing it first. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have corporate spies that confirm all this, thus their commitment in releasing these based on the rumours, especially since they've already gone as low as faking comments on forums and reviews.

I've got nothing against android, competition is good, but only when competitors are doing their own thing, like HTC, Nokia, etc, rather than mimicking apple, like Samsung.

Examples of recent copying from Samsung include...

Fingerprint scanner :p albeit a poor version from the sound of it.

But Apple wasnt the first to implement a fingerprint scanner into a phone.

Its the natural evolution. Just like Apple pinch things from Android (notification center etc), it works the other way too.

already??

They must not have much faith in their products to replace them every 4 or so months

People express annoyance that Apple takes so long to release a new product, and then when a competitor releases something on a faster release cycle, they get laughed at. What gives?

Even though I'll never hand over my hard-earned cash for a Samsung-branded consumer device, I must acknowledge their efforts here. Apple truly does have what appears to be a nimble, aggressive competitor. This article leaves me feeling that Tim Cook is too soft. People that work at Apple aren't scared of disappointing him like they were of our beloved Steve Jobs. We miss you, Steve. You were a true all-balls leader.

People love to complain. Heck, Apple got flack for releasing the iPad 4 about half a year after the iPad 3. People want Apple to be faster, but at the same time complain whenever people update their products quickly. It's more like they wanted the iPad 4 to be the iPad 2 and the Air to be the 3. That's just an example, by the way, saying people essentially want Apple to do two years worth of R&D in one year.

I'm in the same boat...
Given the address APPLErumors.com also points here, I'm not quite sure where Samsung comes in.

They're definitely getting a lot of front page articles of recent. My observation is that they possibly read Mac rumours sites and try to preempt Apple's moves (iWatch is an example).

As a proud Apple fanboy I'm interested in Apple... not M$, Bladerunner (Android/Nexus) or Samsung's attempts to be the new Sony.

One of my suspicions is that being from a Korean background, the Macrumors founder is quite proud of Samsung so uses his status to promote them. Could be wrong (and to be fair he is American... I'm just going off his name/appearance. He may or may not be proud of a Korean company ramping up efforts to compete with Apple and in doing so gaining a lot of the anti-Apple crowd).

No, this is about two things:

1) Samsung *is* a very significant competitor of Apple. That's a fact.
2) It's a hot topic and he knows it.

10 pages of forum posts = a lot of ad revenue.

It appears they just keep releasing new products based on apple rumors. By late this year, we may have the S Watch 3 or 4 at the time the 1st "iWatch" is released.

Or, maybe, Samsung like many other companies considering the idea, beat Apple to the marketplace. Regardless, Apple people will buy the iWatch, others, will buy Samsung or some other make. Lets not give Apple credit for every idea that comes down the pike.

Companies have engineers whose job it is to think about new products. The tablet first originated with Microsoft. Unfortunately, Microsoft came up with the idea before consumers were read to embrace it. Apple produced its version, the iPad at the right time. Apple's innovation is another company missed opportunity.

That right there.

People don't realize how much money the owners of this site happen to make whenever they post a Samsung story. People post, refresh to see if people responded, post again, sometimes it leaks into other threads where it repeats.
