Stop trying to piss off Mac people. Nobody is saying that Apple invented anything or even that the products have not been around for a while. The race to the top is to see who does it better. The wheel has been around for quite a while now yet it doesn't stop tire companies from introducing new designs, treads every year after they figure out what works or an improvement. There were portable music played around for decades... The iPad topped them all. Thats just life. Since you hate apple so much, go troll an android forum.

Oh the irony in that your signature is trying to annoy XP users.

Wow, switched to Tizen... So does this mean even Samsung admits Android sucks? I say yes. :)

I think this may be the biggest part of the news; not the watch. If Samsung abandons Android on its phones as well, this would be really big news. Samsung is the biggest player by far in android. Without Samsung android falls behind iOS. And the new Operating system could quickly become more popular that windows or BB if people keep buying samsung, so I see this as very interesting.

I suggest you support this idea by posting some links with any mentions of the combination of smart watches and health monitoring, before reports of Apple doing this appeared. Many things are obvious, but not in hindsight.
The earliest "rumors" about "biosensors" in the iWatch I found are from March 2013. A discussion about implementing "activity and Sleep Track" features (which are definately "health related") in the Pebble smartwatch is dated April 2012.

Apart from that, an _idea_ might be obvious, but actually implementing it is a totally different matter. The idea that a watch on your wrist could contiuously measure your blood sugar level without putting tiny needles into your fingers is totally obvious to anyone who has diabetes. Building it is something totally different.

On that I agree, my point is: blame Samsung if and when Apple releases a stunning smart watch and Samsung starts to copy the implementation. Not all ideas come from Apple and this one is nothing revolutionary, but Apple definately tends to know how to do a very good implementation.

----------

You're really in some kind of denial.... We get a heavy load of talk that apple are looking to do health related stuff for its watch, then Samsungs new Gear has some health related stuff. It correlates. Unless you can show me links to any info that Samsung were planning this for the Gear 2 from before the talk of Apple doing it, your point is hardly valid.
See above. Talking about the validity of points note that correlation does not imply causation.

Pissing off you doesn't mean "pissing off Mac people". You might actually believe that your opinion is shared among the whole Mac population, but that's not the case, also because I'm part of "Mac people" too: I own a rMBP 15", a iPhone 4S and iPad Air (and no Android at all).

The poster I was replying to begs to differ since he was talking about "chasing after Apples feet".

That's exactly my point: that's where you will be able to talk about "chasing after Apple": if and when Apple releases a killer smartwatch and others start to copy its specific implementation.

You do not piss me off. I don't care what phone, OS, car, dishwasher, whatever you buy.

If it works for you, buy it, use it love it.

My point was, If I have a BMW, I don't go on Mercedes sites and talk about how much they suck, and that they copied BMW by using round wheels, and headlights. I don't get it. AND that goes for iPhone AND Android users.

I think everyone is surprised/upset that Samsung is releasing a sequel so quickly; I'm not. Samsung will keep releasing watches until their satisfied with the end product. Samsung is not forcing me or anyone else to buy their product. How many of you are mad that you bought a Galaxy Gear for your Samsung device? Yet most people criticize them for doing so.
But lets look at Apple for a second. The ipod is dead, the ipod touch hasn't really been touched in over a year, Apple tv is just a hobby, the iPads have received only incremental updates to the original formula and the iphone basic design doesn't departure from the original much. The desktop computer lineup is just left alone for huge periods of time while over 95% of the computer population don't need or what to spend over $3000 for a commputer.
Apple is going to have to adapt to change quicker especially without Steve Jobs vision to guide them. I think Apple/Tim Cook is trying too hard to make their iWatch perfect and is the reason for the delay. I bet their struggling over features, cost and their "watching" the market.
I personally believe the smartwatch will not succeed because of price and we aleady have smartphones. I don't want to have to worry about charging my smartwatch. And I honestly don't want to wear a watch during my waking hours. Since I already wear glasses give me prescription smartglasses without the camera and the ability of receiving alerts and making calls. And since I take my glasses off every night that would be the perfect time to charge them.
I think wearing a watch is a step backwards. Smartglasses especially for people wearing glasses is a step forward.

I'm not the one posting Samsung's articles on MacRumors and I'm definately not claiming that Apple sucks or anything of that sort. My "rude" sentence about Apple was made to echo the poster's claims against Samsung (I marked it as rude myself).

As I already explained, in my opinion the idea is interesting but nothing new or revolutionary, so it's ridiculous to start the "who-copied-what" game. Execution is what matters and what might allow Apple to release a product able to top the competition.

Tizen is impressive news. But I'm confident that Samsung is years from being able to release a flagship Tizen phone. And Google keeps adding features to Android, so Tizen has a moving target to match. This is going to be very hard for Samsung. Tizen, for now, is probably just serving to keep Google in check as to how much it charges Samsung to use all the Google apps on Android. And how Samsung ever gets itself independent of Google Maps, I just don't know.

----------

That's exactly my reaction - 5 months and already a $299 purchase is rendered significantly less in value. Imagine the v1 was a holiday gift, it's now old news, and probably they'll release at least one new version before the holidays again, meaning your gift would be 2 versions behind the latest.

Gotta love those companies that release so often - makes you wonder why people buy them at all when a new version is just around the corner. Wouldn't it be more prudent just to wait a few months until a better version came along?

Uh, and then when the new version comes out, do you wait again for the next version?

The first Gear was bought by early adopter gadget freaks and the very well to do. Remember that you had to have a Galaxy Note 3 to sync with it. So you had to buy a brand new phone as well. You're a gadget freak, a Samsung freak, or a rich dude if you are buying both of these items. And the product was, by all reports, not good. So it doesn't matter if it has been supplemented in the marketplace. The Gear that you own is probably sitting unused in a drawer at this point anyway. So you already either (a) don't care about the purchase because it was just a curiosity for you or (b) feel bad about it. This release isn't going to change things much.

That is like six people. Why would Samsung care?

Reports say they sold just under 50,000. Not six.

Again, I don't want one, heck I don't even wear ANY watch, but such comments belong in the school playground :(

Is this surprising? This is how Samsung operates in electronics..Look how many different models flood the galaxy brand..They are extremely good at throwing products at the market and have no problems with replacing a 300 dollar kit 5 months after it was relesed...Its like they treat all their products as BETA devices :) ... Their may be another version of the device around the time note4 is released...Samsung can also produce devices "fast" as they are the primary producers for a lot of the components (Screen, memory, storage etc)...

I really like the well thought out UI.

Just look at which models have the Camera button on the main screen and which ones don't:

samsung_gear2_line-800x296.jpg

The ones with a hardware camera have a notification button (or messages? Not really sure.) while the ones without a hardware camera have a camera button. Whoops.

But hey, at least it's from the future. For the next 26 hours.

Looks a bit plasticy. To me a watch in this day and age is more about a status symbol. Like wearing a ring or a bracelet. You buy it based on how it looks and how it pleases your eye. Everyone has a watch on their phone but they still buy physical watches for the arm due to fashion etc

And this thing just looks really nerdy and cheap. Now personally I don't wear a watch of any kind and haven't for years so obviously I'm not the target market for this but I still think it looks tacky.

This will all be over if apple do have a smart watch in the works.

It'll be like the design transformation in the mobile area in the smart watch area.

You'll see crap, pebel, galaxy gear, etc all change their design when apple designs appear.

Samsung released to gear in an attempt to appear as if they didn't copy but you'll see em back track to an apple inspired design for sure!

Wrist devices are so old school. Develop a finger ring phone/camera/mp3/mp4/gps/& laser defense device, I'll take notice.

Wow, switched to Tizen... So does this mean even Samsung admits Android sucks? I say yes. :)

Android sucks yes, but that's not why Samsung is doing it. According to an earlier article I read, Samsung just doesn't want to be fully dependent on Google's products in order for theirs to work, so their trying to develop their own
