No one said anything about "opening laptops"--that's your assumption. You're also assuming that GrumpyMom opened her laptop when there's nothing to indicate that. And yet another in your conclusion. I'd suggest not confusing your own thoughts for reality.

There is a thread here, going back a few years, about people getting zapped from touching their laptops. I don't know how it worked out or what the issue was, but it's a thing that happened.

So, in your world, people get current through their bodies only if they "open something with high voltages"?! So, no ground faults, no arcing, no loose wires, no failed components. Is that what you're saying? Because it seems like that's what you're saying.
