"Unfortunately for Samsung, exactly none of these devices will be sold, no-one will buy the device - and I know that as a fact. How could I know? Easy! Every time I read a tech site, there are the Samsung lovers making fun of iPhones not having a headphone jack. They make a headphone jack to be the most important aspect of phone tech. If you read their comments, you'll understand that a headphone jack on their phone is more important than life itself. More so, every one of these Samsung lovers unequivocally asserts that s/he will never buy a phone without a headphone jack. So, Samsung lovers, being honourable people, will keep their word and not buy a phone without a headphone jack. End result, no sales for Samsung."

Could they not just have apps / videos / etc start below the hole? Kind of like when you play a video on an iPhone it can also play without going up into the notch.

They should have this feature I think. Because, I mean notch is not great okay I get it but having a hole in your screen bothers me more than notch.

But you know what, Apple was the first one to do an additional camera at all in the 7 plus. So Huawei copied Apple's idea of the two camera phones and added another. Huawai is just another attempt to become the next Samsung which it never will. Because it's Huawei.
The Huawei P9 which was launched April 2016 had dual cameras already.
The HTC M8 which was launched in 2014 also had dual cameras.
So according to your logic Huawei copied themselves and added another camera.

Dual cameras wasn't an "Apple idea" in the first place.

Remind me who has all the profits in the smartphone market again?
Nobody, it's divided between multiple companies.

So what ? I still miss headphone jack on my iPhone 8 plus - i have pretty good wireless headphones , but the quality is not that good as on wired headphones ( and NEVER will be ) and I should think for power after a few hours playing, so yes the headphone jack is still mandatory, but Apple should sell Airpods and that is why they removed it, not because of the courage...

Most of us may not like the looks of the sqump (square camera bump) expected in next iPhone but it will be distinctive and recognisable instantly as the new one. Apple knows what they are doing.

Leaked Note 10 looks so bland/boring/meh to me. No personality at all.

Is that pronounced “skump” or “skwump”?

So you agree with the quoted comment.

So much hate for Samsung. I get it, they have a love/hate relationship with Apple.

The curved edges while not the most functional, do push the bezels off to the side creating a clean nearly borderless look. It just feels more current and it's singular camera hole can become just as iconic/recognizable as the iPhone notch.

Of course it's not iOS, but you can't deny they're pushing the envelope further and faster than Apple.

Apple products are such stagnant also-rans now that the largest Apple new-product blog reports the Samsung news.

Yes, greedy trade practices and gouging loyal customers makes you a great company.

I usually get downvoted for this kind of comment, but I'll put it out there anyway.

Apple's ecosystem is designed around people that easily spend money. It's a common trope around here that Apple gear is overpriced (which I disagree with) but given that, and their financials which are unlike any other comparable company, you can only conclude that Apple buyers spend money - a lot of it.

I'm end-to-end Apple gear. A lot of the people around me are as well. I don't want to dick around with cobbling some system together, deal with any more accounts than I already have (200+ passwords in my 1Password - welcome to adulthood), or deal with security issues. I've worked hard and make decent money, and at this point in my life I want things to be easy more than I want them to be cheap. I am Apple's target market. Is Apple Music lower quality or more expensive? I literally don't care. I just want to be able to pull up a song on my watch and stream it to my airpods no matter where I am. That's it. I'll pay more for it. I don't have to install an app. I don't need to enter my l/p. I can airplay it to just about everything.

This is what Apple does. They rarely beat competitors on the bullet list, but when it comes to 'look at your phone and all your **** is unlocked', they're unbeatable. They play the system integration game better than anyone else, and if it costs a few bucks more, I'm happy to pay it.

And enough people have voted with their wallets despite the prices Apple charges to make it as financially successful as it is today. I think that says a lot about how great a company Apple is.

Ok, so, let’s pretend that I don’t care about security, privacy, attention to details, several years of free updates and customer support. How would I use the best 2 wearable devices then? The AirPods and Apple Watch.
AirPods work well with Android devices.
The Apple Watch can stand alone for a day and can also drive the AirPods.
Keep your iPhone as backup to configure the Apple Watch - that is what I do using the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the iPhone X. But I am thinking about buying the Note 10.

No Apple were thinking about adding dual cameras and Huwawei found out about it and added then back in 2016 just to beat Apple to the punch. You’ve got to remember that none of these companies have any ideas of their own. They simply wait around for rumours of Apple doing something and then rush to get it out before Apple do. Of course you should also remember that even though they rush it out to beat Apple, only Apple are capable of doing a feature right, the others are just half baked jobs. Does that cover everything?

Did not we learn just yesterday that Apple is going to abandon Face ID in 2021? Why would Samsung be interested in the failed concept? We are hearing that Apple is going to copy Samsung by using under-the-screen fingerprint sensor.
I don’t think we can say Face ID is a failed concept. It works very well. Samsung just don’t seem to share Apple’s vision and that’s fine. They believe in the in display FPS which most of the android OEMs seem to believe in as well.

Pretty much.

Apple isn't getting rid of face id, but a different strategy for a "budget" line. And I hope if apple goes in this direction, the in-display FPS works better than what I've read on the internet about how in-display FPS seems to be glitchy for one reason or another.

You can still use wired headphones it’s iPhones, even without the jack.

As angry as I've gotten at Apple lately for taking stuff I love out of their devices, and pricing things sometimes quite a bit higher than the competition, I have to agree with this.

Apple's integration/ecosystem IS their killer app. There is STILL nothing like it in the market.

And I think that while Apple may have jumped the gun here and there in recent years, the industry is quickly catching up and there is fewer and fewer reasons to not use Apple's appliances. My will to tinker has been mitigated quite a bit, even if I enjoy doing so, due to the advents in wireless comms, storage (local and cloud), and microprocessor speed (those A chips!!!).

The industry in general is reaching maturity, and devices will not change much for a while. The potential promised in the early 00's is being fulfilled now, and frankly Apple still looks like it's skating to where the puck is going to be.

So is everyone else, but for now, I think Apple is still doing it better.

Hopefully, there is no hole punch in the note 11. Could still upgrade to the Note 9 later. Should not be too much longer before Samsung and Apple knocked off this hole notch thing.

The loss of the headphone jack is a dealbreaker for me.

My entire family is now on iOS (my wife LOVES her iPad even if I'm still a laptop guy) after 5 years or so of Galaxy phones. They cannot get enough of iMessage.

As for me, a long-time Note user (I have a Note8 now that I LOVE), I really have no reason to hold off on going back to iPhone after leaving my 4s behind. I can live without the back button, DeX, and the pencil, (as much as I LOVE those features on my Note8), because the integration with my Macs and other Apple devices is so good.

Tradeoffs, to be sure (I prefer Android), but we'll see how life is within iOS nowadays. I can always switch back. :)

?
oh it must be my face that is constantly changing - on my 1TB iPad Pro Face ID does not work in 60 %
Oh I don’t know how it works on the iPad I’ve only ever used it on the iPhone. I’m not that surprised that it doesn’t work as well on a larger device which is held much further away.

Apple hasn’t been a threat to Samsung in a long time.

The difference is between 1 and 1.5mm so very very small.
Note 10's side bezels are much smaller and that's why the chin looks bigger.

I'm not sure about Samsung but Huawei certainly has been
