Yes, because all the bad guys are trying to figure out how to hack Mike MA's fingerprints to get into his phone.

Touch ID and Face ID are both secure. But according to Apple there is a 1 in 50,000 chance that someone else’s fingerprint will falsely unlock your iPhone and a 1 in 1,000,000 chance that someone else’s face will do it. So it’s not about me or you, but about facts and technology - so Face ID clearly is superior.

No.

First off, those IDC numbers have already been debunked. They're so bad even a Grade 6 math student could explain how wrong they are.

Second, their figures for Samsung include all phones they sell, including those $50 disposable ones. They don't break out devices like the Galaxy S, which has had continuous sales drops since the Galaxy S4 (their last phone that actually sold really well).

How can you be a professional using an operating system with poor quality Fisher Price Apps?

DEX is DOA as is Windows on ARM with those pathetic processors trying to run a full OS.

It's just like the iPhone's amazing processors being held back by iOS

Thieves or governments don't rely on that 1 in 50,000 chance. For them it's easier to get you to simply look at the phone than to physically force you to place the correct finger on the phone. And they also don't have to guess which finger is the right one.

FaceID is clearly inferior.

Love love love the colour, and much prefer that camera layout to the XI (?) layout. Other than that... eh. Hate how square it is.

I actually like the square design. Looks like all screen with barely any bezels. Like a "single sheet of glass". Wait whose quote was that again? ;)

Samsung no longer copies Apple - they now copy Huawei. As an Apple investor, should one be relieved or concerned?
[doublepost=1562870070][/doublepost]Yes, true and now even iPhone copies Huawei - they put the rectangular cameras to the side and aligned them in triangle, but it is still the square from mate 20 pro

What you are describing is not about the properties of the underlying technology.

Yes it is, it's about the nature of the biometric data they require.

Your consideration of security only considers the false positive rate, not the ease with which the genuine information can be coerced by a third party.

iPhones are just fashion accessories now. The better iPadOS gets the more useless iPhones become in comparison.
Don’t care what they are called. I use them to get my work done. Being pejorative is not going to reduce apple’s profits or have any other affect on the company. So have at it.

Suuuure. Like Photoshop coming to the iPad.

Android is a joke for Apps compared to iOS. It's not even close.

Notice how I said the iPhone. Not the iPad. The iPhone easily has the best processors on the mobile side, and yet we don't get to take advantage of it. Where's split screen apps? That's a big one that I'd love to have! Sure, a lot of people won't use it. But it would be nice to have.

I will agree about the apps. The last Android I had was the OnePlus 5. And some of the apps I used on a daily basis didn't have nearly the same polish as it did on iOS.

Wish Apple would just steal Huawei's camera tech too, since it looks like they ripped off the design lol. The iPhone definitely needs some help in the camera department.

With all due respect to the iPhone--it just looks dated in comparison to the Samsung. Now, if only the Samsung ran iOS!

The chance that third parties or police will force me to unlock my phone is near zero compared that I just lose my phone and someone tries to unlock it somehow - and more likely fails with Face ID. So too much Hollywood blockbuster thinking....

You missed the point. Samsung might have stopped "copying" Apple because Apple is not trendy anymore.

Apple is still trendy more as a status thing, was at Wimbledon this week and maybe 80% of phones were iPhones. The now dated notch design attracts a lot of criticism in the Android space, and will get bad reviews just based on that, especially as there's no point without Face ID.

That 1 in 50,000 chance that someone who finds your phone can unlock it is just too high for you to be comfortable with? And that they do it before you can remote erase the phone?

I just prefer the 1:1,000,000 technology. If something new is around the corner even more secure I will go for that. Btw., I’m not a fan of the notch at all. So under the screen Touch ID sounds interesting and also adorable, yet under the hood Face ID would be awesome.

About the rumored ToF, Samsung usually releases it first and Apple usually gets it right first. But we will see.
Samsung already have the tOF sensor on the 5G S10+. However I’ve not really seen any reviews of that phone to see how good the sensor is.

What did Samsung copied from Huawei exactly? Huawei has been not only copying design from Samsung but stealing proprietary technologies including foldable screen, oled technology (from other companies too of course).
Huwawei copied the curved display too.

I would love to have XI cameras like this rather than the leaks of that hideous triangle design of Apple's. But we'll see if they have a convincing reason to do like that.

But for that front camera, I still prefer notch over this. Cannot stand a hole in the screen like a dead pixel. Yes, you may get used to it afterwards but we still need a solutions for that full screen problem.

Could they not just have apps / videos / etc start below the hole? Kind of like when you play a video on an iPhone it can also play without going up into the notch.

So Apple has done testing with Samsung's algorithm? I'm not saying it's not superior, but using that as any sort of a factor is silly in IMO. Someone would actually have to get your phone without you noticing and then be 1:50,000 (using Apple's numbers). The risk is basically zero of it happening.

If they wanted to the cops could hold the phone to a persons face while they were handcuffed, then swipe up.

I am not sure Wimbledon crowd qualifies as trendy at least as far as tech is concerned. China might be on the forefront of the tech trends nowadays.

Still no FaceID? What's taking Samsung so long?
Did not we learn just yesterday that Apple is going to abandon Face ID in 2021? Why would Samsung be interested in the failed concept? We are hearing that Apple is going to copy Samsung by using under-the-screen fingerprint sensor.
