Wow, Samsung really is copying Apple now.

----------

Not to troll, but why is the weight expressed in pounds / lbs? It's a scientific test, so one would expect S.I. units, thus for weight (kilo)grams or Newton for force. Or are N and kg not (yet) accepted units with the public?

Because most people don't know what any of that means. It's a test for the public, not scientists.

Since your whole comment is a putdown, in which you claim to above putdowns, finishing with the non sequitur with a "I'm buying this non Apple product" statement. I'm going to tag this as a meta comedy!

Btw, I don't give a crap that this phone bends or not. Neither phones from Samsung or Apple will bend in normal use.

What bothers me though is this constant need to assert that Apple users are somehow slavishly cultish, or on the payroll (and you mostly did the same thing here, bravo for being ironic without prodding).

You're not exactly helping with the "Apple users are somehow slavishly cultish, or on the payroll" thing. And I'm doing the same thing? B/c clearly I'm the one defending Apple like I'm sleeping with Tim Cook. Clearly I'm the one getting so worked up and upset over such a trivial issue. Oh wait, that's not me. That'd be you. Seriously dude. Chill out. Go for a walk or something lol

Ooops.... Bendgate demonstrated for what it really was: totally BS.

as a -gate, perhaps.

But I believe that there are some individuals who may have had issues with their phones bending from natural (non-extreme) usage. For them, it was an issue.

beyond that - most things will bend/break given enough force.

Hahahahaha

Do you think every one will make a big deal about Galaxy bend gate? Probably not cuz people only bash success.

Still no update from MacRumors member hanzoh who posted the original report of bending his phone at a wedding back in September. I wonder if Apple fixed it for him? MacRumors seems to have locked most of the threads discussing the bending of iPhones, and yet this site was one of the early leaders in exposing "Bendgate", promoting it to a Front Page article on September 23rd, just 4 days after the launch of the iPhone 6, and that generated a lot of discussion for the forums on this one topic alone. Even the oneofthenine.com website hasn't been updated since December - - I wonder why we don't hear about iPhone 6's bending anymore?

I have already stated my opinion. Once again, I think this entire ordeal is stupid. The bendgate thing was stupid. Did some iPhones bend? Yes. Was it overblown? Yes. Was the gapgate crap with the Note 4 overblown by the Apple faithful? Yes. Is this bending crap with thr GS6 Edge overblown? Yes. You're asking "why comment at all" Well, this is a public forum...is it not? I'm just not one to be all #TeamApple or any other brand for that matter. These people aren't paying my bills. You think Apple honestly gives a damn about anybody on here defending them? The day you stop buying Apple products is the day they stop giving a damn about you.

I was referring to your opinion on the subject, not some meta critique on the comments. My point was that if I don't care about a subject, is indifferent about either side of an argument, I wouldn't bother to comment at all, since I find it uninteresting. I certainly didn't mean that you could not comment, but what ever man, this is pretty pointless.

they are in full defensive mode right now :D

No they're not, I don't think anyone really cares. I see mostly Apple fans getting bent out of shape (no pun). I'm not saying they don't deserve to get bent out of shape as Samsung has their foot in their mouth, but it's just such a silly thing. If anything get pissed at the media who are the ones who made such a big deal out of it.

Most people understand weight as being the same thing as mass (ignoring the whole g constant thing), they don't really get that they're not the same thing. But, since most people don't make a lot of scientific calculations or live on Mars, for most, it doesn't matter much.

I wonder why we don't hear about iPhone 6's bending anymore?

Probably because common sense has taken over. Sure, we initially hope that our devices are immune to daily wear, but the reality is that sitting on your phone doesn't make the realities of physics go away.

----------

Samesung .....

They won't learn from their mistakes.

They don't care. They know that people replace their phones far more quickly than Apple users replaces theirs. They know that their phones are "disposable". So they can get away with these design flaws and move on to the next competition-copying+bashing campaign.

I love this thread

I love that I can read a full circle of comments from some posters who are upset that bendgate was an issue, to those dissing Samsung for having the same issue to people annoyed that Samsung won't get the media attention that Apple got to people who mock the fact that Samsung won't get the media attention that Apple got.

It really runs the full gamut here!

Does the Note 3 bend like the iphone 6? Because I'm pretty sure that's the point that ad makes. It has nothing to do with the S6.

But hey - don't let me rain on your parade lol

Hypocrisy only if it was planned. And even if it was - who cares? So many things are said at keynotes that are condescending (true or not) to the competition. Apple, Samsung, HTC, Sprint, T-Mobile - all of them do it. It fires people up.

This is true. 100% true. You know damn well if the something crazy had happened to the GS5 or Android for that matter, Apple (specifically the always annoying Phil Schiller) would've had something to say. They've taken shots at Android and various manufacturers at different Apple events and the Apple faithful ate it up. Yet when it's Apple being made fun of, all of a sudden it's wrong? Really? Lol. Let's not paint this picture of Apple being an innocent little fawn, who'd never take advantage of another company's misfortune.

Ouch.

Where are all the Samsung fans from September? I'd like to see what they make of this.

So their phone is just as fragile as an iphone. This doesn't change the fact that iphone6 design is a failure.

I agree with you on this one point, however you edited it out of my full post:

I'm more interested in who cashed in on "Bendgate" and how it has since been swept under the table.

The number of people that are surprised by thin aluminium bending under pressure is more of a worry than anything.
+1.
People, aluminium is not strong and it's not a premium material. ffs, beer cans are made of Al. lol

LOL a machine bending phones that's not a point.

The bend polemic was related to the iphone 6+ inside a trouser pocket, the thing bends, now, is it stupid to put it there? yes of course, the thing is too big but IMO the form on the iphone 6+ makes it more prone to bend than other phones EVER.

The Galaxy S6 is not at the same level of bending than the iphone 6+, that video is just bs. Show me many people complaining then ill believe.

Show us something better.
Very interesting kind of denial.
Now a calibrated machine isn't the point, while a bunch of complainers on the web are.
Lol :D

You mean where are all the S6 owners who are up in arms about their phones bending. Well gee - I don't know. I'm guessing that very few of them own time machines and have access to the ones they are going to buy yet.

Lol I've owned more Android phones than iPhones. Get real.
