Good to see it so light. I was worried it would be as heavy as the Vision Pro. The resolution is great too. It’s kind of expensive though, compared to the Quest 3. Especially wouldn’t want to pay that price from a company like Samsung known for sneaking ads into their products. (Rip people who bought a Samsung fridge.) I don’t really want a headset made by Facebook, but a more expensive model from an ad-supported company isn’t appealing either.

Once Apple cracked the code, it was only a matter of time before the copycats introduced their imitations. But as they say, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”

Personally, I would never be comfortable wearing a computer on my face. Nothing’s better than the sight God gave me.

You’re looking at it wrong. It’s not just “virtual reality” it’s “spatial” so bringing to life passed on relatives and seeing photos in a whole new light. It’s epic. I think just the newer iPhones can do any photo spatial…also, you don’t have to just be immersed in some virtual world…you can use that magnificent gift of sight endowed upon mankind to view BIIIIIIIIIG screen content like a theater…

It’s pretty nice I’m just waiting for the weight (price would be good too) to go down considerably so another 10-20 years or so??….

In the meantime just got my lowly 65” OLED lol

And maybe down the road a halfway decent and not too crappy of a projector…then finally….. the pièce de résistance …,Apple Vision Pro 3 or 4. Whatever one fits the bill.

See what I mean? It’s no different than watching something alone in a theater, except with APPLE VP, it’s in the comfort of your own place.

Plus, Apple is putting in safeguards early to ensure that you’re not sucked in mind body and soul to this thing LMAO

Lower Price + Controllers + Google Play Pass. It seems like this is designed from the outset to appeal to casual VR gamers, which is a much more natural fit for a VR product. The AVP was really just a monitor designed for passive media consumption, which other screens already do better, but being sold as a productivity device - which it definitely isn't. It will be interesting to see how this sells.

If that's what it was designed for then it's a failure from the outset because it's more than double the price of the Quest 3, which is way lighter, more mature, and has way more games.

This was looking pretty awesome until "Samsung has teamed up with Warby Parker...". I bought Warby Parker glasses about 5 years ago. Worst crap I've ever seen (literally). A friend told me about getting glasses with Nikon lenses and so I eventually did. Night and day! WP has no business making glasses.

Hmm. I've enjoyed (and generally gotten more mileage out of) Warby Parker glasses more than any pair I've gotten at an optometrist. Granted, my vision needs are pretty straightforward; I've heard some not-so-great things from friends for whom that isn't the case. But to each their own.

It’s not a bad product, per se, but even Bill Gates has admitted there’s only really room for two platforms in any category: Apple and someone else. And just like how Microsoft missed the boat on mobile phones, I have a feeling Samsung is too late. The lower end belongs to Meta, and Apple has the premium side of things. I don’t see Apple side taking off until they get around the $1,500 price point, which Samsung had already missed the opportunity to hit. My guess is that they’ll drop the price a few hundred dollars in a couple months, and then cancel the entire product line in about a year—give or take. I think if you want VR, you’re either in for Meta, or you’re waiting on Apple to get slimmer and cheaper. I could be wrong, but no matter how hard these companies try, and every company has tried for the last 40 years, VR has just never taken off, in any form. The most successful is the Meta Quest line. I have the Quest 2 and 3, and I’ve done Vision Pro demos, VR is just not that useful, except for gaming, and where it is useful, it feels awkward, keeping one of these headsets on your face. So I don’t think anyone’s really going to compete with Meta on the gaming side, and these aren’t going to take off for mainstream until they look more like sunglasses, which Mata is already kind of done, if the rumors are true, Apple is racing towards.

Good on Samsung for the price and benefits.

Would sooner buy this than the AVP.

Competition is good but suppose it doesn’t really matter now as Apple has gave up lmao.
I might get it if that portable PC monitor feature worked with Mac, but somehow I doubt it would.

If that flat-2D tennis game is what users have to look forward to, it might not appeal that much to VR gamers.
