That would result in fragmentation with apps since the screen ratio would change. That wouldn't be good at all, and I don't expect Apple to do it.

I'm not saying it would be an ideal solution - but it's one interesting way to go. Either way I'm sure Apple is experimenting with larger screened iPhones. We'll just have to wait and see what they come up with... if they change anything at all that is. They could be perfectly fine with a 3.5" screen.

Some of the things Samsung launched today:

  • S Voice
  • S Cloud
  • Scan and Match
  • Display sharing
  • S Pebble
  • Retail stores

In other news, Apple has had these for awhile:

  • Siri
  • iCloud
  • iTunes Match
  • AirPlay
  • iPod Shuffle
  • Retail stores

Samsung has had That for AGES

The Samsung Galaxy S III: now with integrated shoulder straps!

And did AndroidCentra intentionally turn down the brightness on the iPhone? Mine certainly doesn't look that dim/washed out.

iPhone obviously might be cranked up brighter and it is brighter than Samsung's AMOLED screens but in general it does look washed up compared to OLED screens because those have much better (infinite) contrast ratio.

Uh oh.. He comes the forum wars of THAT LOOKS UGLY!!!!!!! BUt if apple came out with something like that it would be a break though....

Looks good. I might take a look when they come out.

Hmm, I like the new design. it doesn't look almost exactly like an iPhone! That's got to be a good thing. I liked it when there was more of a variety of different shapes and sizes.

I'd need a much smaller handset though, I hope Apple doesn't go down this giant phone path.. Though I'm sure they won't!

I really had my hopes up for this. I have been craving something new as after 2 years I am getting a bit tired of my iP4.

This isn't it because:

I am ALL in favor of a bigger screen, but not one that is almost 5"! If I wanted something that big I would go with the Note.

Even though I don't think the camera is the end all be all of a smartphone, I am more inclined to go with a company who improves on the camera/lens and not just by upping the MP. Samsung is all about the sharing of the media, but if you don't have a crapload of people you send pics to, I am more interested that the picture I take is a GOOD one.

I was really hoping the rumours of a ceramic back were correct vs the plastic. I just wanted it to seem more top of the line.

I guess I will just have to hope that Apple performs their magic again with their new iPhone release!

say what you want about the samsung device.

i think ios is starting to get really dated. I feel the pain even more so on my ipad than my iphone. hoping ios 6 brings something to the table.

i'd LOVE to have some of those features on my iPhone 4S and i'm not kidding. the auto tagging of pictures, auto sending to friends and the smart "keep the phone on while starring at the screen" are pretty neat. at least its not all "stolen"

and yes dare i say it, after owning the iPhone, the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 4 and now the iPhone 4S iOS looks really dated

Not just that. Samsung phones (Android) had voice recognition before iPhone, Samsung has had small MP3 players for ages. In fact what they are offering is not a stand-alone MP3 player (perhaps it maybe used as one) but an accessory for Galaxy S3. It may be charged from the phone connect to it (which iPod can't).

It is so frustrating nobody can make a product that can match Apple products in terms of simplicity of design. iPhone was launched 5 years ago and yet everyone else's phones look so ugly. What are these people doing with their hands at work? Why can't they make a phone that is better than iPhone in terms of design, if not software? If so we won't have to pay as much for Apple stuff now ;)

The hardware specs look great and all but Samsung has a knack for making their phones look cheap no matter what the design. This is their flagship device and it's all plastic body just looks and no doubt feels cheap. I'm glad Apple dumped the plastic body of the 3G/3GS.

You can't go wrong with Samsung's 2.8" Android phone then.

I have to say (and I'm saying this objectively) I do not like the look of that phone at all. Way too big. I'll be seriously bummed if Apple's next phone is that big. I'm sure the phone will get rave reviews and all the tech sites will proclaim Apple is doomed. But really design wise I think they can do better. And hopefully iOS6 will have features that make Samsung blush.

So basically I got a Galaxy S III months before it came out. Only thing it lacks is a way-too-huge screen and hideous form factor.

Fandroids can have at this ugly thing... I'll keep my iPhone 4S. :)

You do know that most people actually prefer Android phones, right? Perhaps they find those Android phones besting Apple products in terms of simplicity of design?
