I’m pleased with Apple. Two iPhones, two iPads, great service always and everything is there for our needs. Is the experience going to be the same for all? No, but for our family Apple checks all the boxes. Sorry about your experience. Hopefully whatever you choose in the future works for you.

Too bad for apple users. With Android/Google eco-system we can do the same and better for a much cheaper price. Things like gmail, gdrive, map, photo etc are device agnostics.

...I know I know blah blah argument that Google will steal your life and throw you in hell :p

How many of your friends talk about phone security

My friends are also my colleagues, and working in a government related sector for a career path, security_is_ crucial, so yes, we do discuss this (As it’s also mandated), because we have to rely on the type of information we are transmitting from our smart phones, which we only use the iPhone to protect our credentials/ and confidentiality disseminating sensitive materials due to the stringent security from iOS. Android doesn’t deliver here, nor would the agency I work for even consider android in that respect.

This is also why I believe we will never see a cheese grater Mac Pro being re-released. Apple never looks back, only forward.

So Apple isn't exactly lying, but you have to read between the lines and realise that your definition of what makes a "great" Mac is likely not going to be what Apple deems "great".

Apple only looks for profits. If they were looking forward they would have come out with up to date hardware. As a customer I don’t want to read between the lines but want transparent thrust worthy communication.

The problem with reading between the lines, is that you can come up with every c**p that fits you. We’re talking about business practices here, not politics.

If forward thinking is crappy keyboards, not being able to handle the processor heats, ergonomic disastrous touchbar, bendable ipads and keyboards. I’m holding my breath.

I think that at this point, Samsung should be looking over their shoulder and be more worried about upcoming competition from newcomers like Huawei, rather than constantly trying to bash Apple in the media.
Remember the get a Mac campaign? Apple had a patent of bashing out others. It only works if you’re having to show something that’s true though. Apple has nothing to bash the competition for, not because they don’t want, because they can’t.

Apple tactic is to ignore and trying showing of things they want you to believe they excel. Too bad security is questionable and they don’t offer the best cameras for photography.

Compared to other Asian brands I think Samsung has done a good job creating a differentiating design language for their hardware. They haven’t been “copying” Apple for some years.
They don’t need to anymore. They are way ahead.

First off the max is a great phone and does what it does well and end of the day you buy what suits you but when you compare value for money and what the s10 does which the iPhone doesn’t then it’s easy to say apple has to start getting their ass in gear here as since S8 the samsung devices have been performance wise as great as iPhones and with the new one UI the software now is very good too which was the issue in the past.

Apple better change the layout for iOS 13 as given what you can do to your home screen even with gifs on the lock screen and always on display it shows how far behind apple are in these areas.

iPhones do what they do well but with tech in 2019 it needs to do a lot more.

The S10 is close to a perfect smartphone and i’m Sure it will get even better with the note 10.

Little things like fast charge out the box matters and apple even in 2019 still have no plans to put it in the box for this years phones. With how they are priced people shouldn’t upgrade based on the ecosystem and the blue bubbles.

iPhones have become boring where you can only do the basic things on them. If that’s all you need then great but with android they are pushing the boat out and making you able to do far on your devices.

Here’s hoping apple start moving forward with the times and push to get better.

Celebrities get hacked because they use weak passwords, not because of a lack of security in icloud.
What percentage of Android apps have malware? Is it 40% still?
You also have to ask yourself what security you have when everything is in the Google universe.
You have to start by logging into gmail then that logs you in with everything else whether you want it to or not.
In their privacy rules they clearly state they have ownership of everything you put on their servers- images, contacts, emails, documents ( although they assure you that they would never use your data without your permission. ) But ownership?
Plus, I think you’ll find keychain password protection and the apple chips in all devices ( can’t remember the name) the ones which keep sensitive data and or parts of the OS kernel that not even they can get into. They arecavhuge plus. l
Android is pretty good these days but I think you’ll find that Android phones are still a long way behind in security.

LMAO!!!!! "Celebrities get hacked because they use weak passwords..." is probably one of the most hilarious things I've heard in sometime coming from someone defending Apple. At some point we as iPhone users have to admit that Apple and their mainframe, OS etc is not that great in every area. A hack is a hack. Again I as an iPhone user see the flaws in Apple and we have to admit that. Once we admit that Apple needs work maybe that will force Apple to step their game up.

Okay, since we are in sniping mode, let’s not forget that the galaxy was recently randomly sending photos to random contacts, without the owners permission.

Let's be clear that I am not defending Google. I am merely saying that Apple is prone to hacks and it is more widely published.

Government application is an extreme use case. For everyone else Android security is great or else there would be zero banking apps or contact less payment applications on the platform.

No, I wasn't proven wrong. It is an added expense. Zenithal thought I was comparing the cost of glass replacement between the two and I wasn't. Nothing in my post noted such a comparison in cost.
What does this mean then?
"The curved glass is a waste of space and an added expense if repairing"
This implies that the curved glass results in higher repair costs than other devices. Also, the structure of the sentence, and without qualification on the term "repairing", implies you are talking about repairing the glass.

Not really. Bottom line is this, android is not secure as Apple is with iOS. Nor do they value the stringency that Apple has in terms of encryption standards. I’m not saying android isn’t secure, but I don’t want to have any false modesty pretending like android is on the same level as Apple is either, which clearly others are aware they are not.

iOS isn't bullet proof either. Vulnerabilities are discovered annually some of which Apple pay bounties for. Further more its not rare to read about hacked iCloud accounts.

Some iPhone users here need to stop scaremongering about android security and get off the Apple ivory tower because iOS isn't 100% secure either. :)

It's always going to be an added cost if you break something and need to get it repaired - So I can't see what you're getting at.
No, there's always a cost when repairing. To say added cost is invoking a comparison. Repairing the curved glass will cost more than some other devices, the implication being (due to the sentence structure) a device without a curved screen. This is just basic English.

The main Samsung flaw is the Android OS.

The difference is that Apple cares to fix it... on the opposite on Google's business model, the more they record and store about you, the better...

A class
It is a fact that if you have to get the curved glass repaired, it is an extra cost on top of purchase. That is all I addressed. The same goes for iPhone. No need to argue with me over the obvious. Read what I say without inserting words that aren't there. It goes smoother that way.

If you want to have a dialogue with me, you can do so without the passive aggressive rhetoric aimed at me, because you disagree with what I said. If not, you can reply to others.
A classic instance of someone painting themselves into a corner.

Yes. We all know how well apples cares about software. They care so much that updates were slowing down phones for years before apple "fixed" it with iOS 12. In the meantimes, millions unnecessarily upgraded their phone.

No they don't have to which had resulted in many sticking to their iPhone 6 and 7.

Why would porn slow it down and who watches that on their phone?

Everyone knows Samsung phones don’t get updated long term. You couldn’t even have Pie when it was released.
I got Pie on my Huawei P20 Pro late January. In what way was I disadvantaged by not having it sooner?
[doublepost=1551536567][/doublepost]
Who knows? I just know my Note 4 was basically trash after 6 months despite a device replacement and 3 batteries.

.

This is anecdotal. It is of no value to a discussion. Like in a thread last year a user stated that he had (as I recall) at least four iPhone X phones replaced with the same (?) fault. This was to be disregarded as anecdotal

Late last year I made the decision to jump ship and leave years of Apple loyalty and purchased the S9.

I lasted 2 days before sending it back to Samsung and instead upgraded my iPhone 6S to the XS.

When friends asked what happened I told them this - the problem with Samsung is it’s software. I told them that it’s as if I’ve bought the latest Porsche, which to everyone looks great on the outside, but once I get into that car and I’m on my own, I look at the interior and I want to cry. It’s clunky, bloated and ugly.

The S9 (and now S10) are similar. Gorgeous on the outside but inside, boy oh boy (shudder)
Your friend probably thinks something might be wrong with you Because you don't have to use Samsungs software plenty of great alternatives you can install.

Unlike Apple Android let's you decide what you want to use and how to use it. You gave up on a phone that gave you the option to have whatever you wanted.

That's like getting rid of a computer because you don't like what web browser it came with lol.
