Glad to see they opted for a notch alternative, but it won’t change a thing for me. Waiting for tech to be able to have a camera under the screen that dims when necessary. May be waiting a while, I’m sure, but that’s where I see the full screen effect phone finishing.

They usually update it with two versions of Android, maximum and that's it.
And it is very slow process, usually, you have to wait months after the Android is officially released. The beauty of mess, confusion and fragmentation.
How is it slow? You get the major updates every 12 months or so. Just like Apple updates iOS.
So the S10 will get Android Q by this time next year. Whta's the problem with that?

Dan also doesn't know how to use the fp sensor. He's holding his finger on the sensor and pressing. That's not necessary.
It was quite strange when he said that FaceID is faster. From what I've seen it's definitely not faster or more accurate.

I really hope Apple doesn’t copy Samsung on at least one of those things. I can see the phone-to-phone charging feature being quite an annoyance in the future if it becomes a widespread thing:

Friend/Random Person: “Ugh, my phone just died.”

Me: *awkwardly looks away and avoids eye contact with friend/random person*

Friend/Random Person: “Can I use your phone to charge mine?“

Me: “Uhhh... I guess...”

I really hope this doesn’t become a common occurrence. I wouldn’t buy an S10 just cuz I’d be worried about this happening all the time haha

Is there anything killer with these new Samsung phones? What’s the flagship feature?

I have to say the Infinity O isn’t as noticeable as I thought it might be?
Granted the wallpaper probably masks it somewhat but if I were in the market for a new phone it wouldn’t put me off.
Yeah and it looks really small next to the iphone notch.

I'm most impressed with the $900 S10 with 8 GB of DRAM & "10-bit color" video capture.

To me, that's "the Benchmark" upon which ALL smartphones "should be" compared.

The XR, XS, & XS Max ALL offer 8-bit "HDR" video capture, which Samsung's newest do NOT.

However, Samsung's newest offer "10-bit color" video capture, which AAPL's newest do NOT.

Samsung's newest Blows AAPL Out of the Water when it comes to DRAM !

However, AAPL wins when it comes to (perceived) "trust".

When it comes to Perf, my 7+ is a Gem, my 2-year-newer XR is a Lemon, Go Figure !

Synthetic Benchmarks do NOT tell the whole story ! ... ONLY real-world application benchmarks do !

Very surprised that MR does NOT have it's own set of real-world application benchmarks !

Android? Nope. No thanks. I like software that works. Android is still a mess and a security risk. Less than no interest.
Comments like these humor me ALWAYS! As an iPhone user myself I have to ask what security risk are there associated with Google/Android platform? Celebrities iCloud get hacked into daily and their private pics are plastered all over the net. FaceTime just had a very intrusive flaw exposed recently. Just say you don't like Android and it will be more respected.

This comment:

"But in practice both smartphones are so fast that there's not going to be much of a noticeable difference in performance between the two."

has no place in the computer world ;) Yes, it's ok the for the mall girls, but we are computer enthusiasts, no?

Well I don't know how you can be interested in performance but use iOS that doesn't even support multitasking, so people express their enthusiasm in different ways.

To be fair to Dan, every iPhone-centric reviewer who's reviewed the phone has done the same thing. Rene Richie even cracked a joke about knowing he activated the sensor incorrectly. If you do what Dan did, the process will seem slower. But we're talking fractions of seconds so it really doesn't matter if one is faster than the other.

Android Pie was released almost a year ago.
Wrong you are off by a solid six months.
And the S8 hasn't got it yet.
Android Pie is rolling out for S8 as we speak.
https://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-download-android-9-pie-update-on-galaxy-s8-plus/
The S8 and S8+ were unveiled on 29 March 2017 and were available starting with April. So it's less then the 12 months cycle I mentioned.

Get real.
You should take your own advice actually.
