Both great phones, ultimately just comes down to OS preference. Hardware is so good today, software and services are really going to key difference. For me, I look for the best overall combination of performance, security, privacy, ecosystem, apps, and support. Apple currently gets my money, but that could of course change.
For me it would take a lot to change.
It's taken a long time to get my devices, media, and their implementation incorporated in my every day life.
Many have told me it's easy to convert and that many features of the iPhone are the same on the galaxy, but the galaxy allows for more customization. Not a big enough reason.

Both platforms are excellent depending on the user's needs and desires.

Comments like these humor me ALWAYS! As an iPhone user myself I have to ask what security risk are there associated with Google/Android platform? Celebrities iCloud get hacked into daily and their private pics are plastered all over the net. FaceTime just had a very intrusive flaw exposed recently. Just say you don't like Android and it will be more respected.

“Get hacked into daily”

We both know it’s not hacking, but phishing. And to say it’s a daily occurance is wilfully disingenuous, especially after 2FA and other measures Apple implemented. Don’t be that guy.

Samsung phones are still an inferior rip off of the iPhone. I would be very surprised if they ever surpassed Apple.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 which I bought purely for watching movies on trips. Other than the blacks of the OLED display pretty much everything is worse than the iPad.

Android Pie was released almost a year ago. And the S8 hasn't got it yet.

Get real.
You need to educate yourself before making silly comments. Android Pie was officially released in August 2018 and the S8 does have it.

Posts like this just make me laugh, so ignorant.

Is there anything killer with these new Samsung phones? What’s the flagship feature?

That’s dependent of what your definition is of ‘killer’, but if you factor that they were able to execute the fingerprint reader under the display, you have to give them credit for that, given Samsung initially had issues that were rumored working on the implementation of that. Altogether, as an iPhone fan myself, the S10 is a nice looking phone with decent features, we can’t dismiss Samsung for everything that needs to be ‘Killer.’

Wrong you are off by a solid six months.

Android Pie is rolling out for S8 as we speak.

The S8 and S8+ were unveiled on 29 March 2017 and were available starting with April. So it's less then the 12 months cycle I mentioned.

You should take your own advice actually.

Still, I am not wrong in my original statement. It is months after official release after all. I admit I got release date wrong.

By what I wrote in first post, i rest my case. It is ridiculous to compare iOS update cycle with Android.

So, once again, get real.

I really don’t get how people say that the swipe up slows down FaceID. It’s literally 1 step to unlock your phone.

I was saying relative to the the S10+ FP sensor. One tap is easier than a raise to wake or tap + a swipe. Plus, FaceID could require more time to be more secure with attention settings adjusted.

FaceID also doesn’t work while a screen is off. The S10+’s FP sensor works even with the screen off. Many people want Apple to get TouchID underneath a screen.

I actually admit when I am wrong...something not everyone is able to do, it seems.

The Apple Watch S4 has been out for 6 months and it's main new hardware feature still isn't even activated for most of the world.

Just one of the benefits of the same company being responsible for hardware and software I guess o_O

I would beg to differ on your tab S4 comments when the latter actually supports mice, a desktop mode known as DeX, a real file manager..... and to make your point more void I have both devices and yes iOS has more polished apps but I can do more actual work on the tab S4 on any given day and of course the tab S4 display has no rival in the tablet space except for the tab S5e. I'm waiting for all this power in my iPad pro to finally get utilized...I'm actually using the tab S4's power unlike on the iPad pro and it's a far weaker device.

Also, the S10 truly is the anti iPhone as well as the note 9 (the Pinnacle of the everything do all phone)...these phones literally have everything and are complete beasts actually using their gpu and processor abilities etc.

Let's just clear up what everyone is thinking: The Samsung phone is everything the iPhone wishes it could be. But isn't. Look at the engineering chops on Samsung. They packed all that technology into that little hole, just as secure and fast as FaceID. Also, look at how GORGEOUS the rounded corners are on the Samsung.

Good try, though.
Good try what?
You are wrong about the fact that it's a "very slow process" and "it's a mess"
Like I've said Galaxy S users receive major OS updates just like iOS users: at every 12 months.
The most exciting things about Samsung's Android Pie release are Samsung's own additions and modifications. Stock Android doesn't bring anything meaningful for a Galaxy S user.

LoL why? We are talking about Samsung not Android and 12 months is 12 months. There no reason to dismiss the simple and logical argument like the one I made.

iOS and iOS Apps require much much less RAM than Android so the benefit here is minimal if any.

Clearly more RAM wouldn't hurt but thinking that more RAM on an Android phone translates to a better experience is not necessarily true..
Except the experience is in fact better, the s10 can keep way more apps in ram which means they don't need to be re-loaded each time you open an application. Not to mention android treats ram like an actual computer which allows it to truly multitask.

Plus iPads (and iPhones and HomePods) still don't support multiple users.

Front looks good, but they can't seem to get the design of the back, Ugh.
Do you see the back with a case on? The only time I've ever seen the back of any of my smartphones is on 'un-boxing day'. The next time is when I re-box them ready for selling on.

It's a convenience factor. I am just comparing two products, not saying what is or is not a big deal. If that feels like "nitpicking" then that is what you're supposed to do with products that are very similar.
It’s just different technology. Apple can’t keep the Face ID blasting all the time looking for a face while Samsung can turns of oled display but leave that area where scanner is active. Anyway I wouldn’t trade Face ID for fingerprint.

I actually recently looked into it myself with the S10e, but it would just be way too much work for what it’s worth. I don’t really have any reasons to make the switch, as all my Apple gear works so well, but I think I was just itching to try something new. I think if Apple added a bunch of customization options, it would help with that.

No. I'm not thinking that at all. The Samsung phone has no FaceID. So the security can't be compared in that sense.
