I forgot Apple patented all types of advertisement's as well. Apple surely never emulated any other company in the world or borrowed other people's ideas. Everything they make is completely from scratch including the metals they mine for in order to assemble their products. Grow up people.

Who cares if someone tries a different position with the audience. Who cares if the iPad and Galaxy Tab look similar? Are you that stupid you can't tell the difference between an Android or iOS operating system? Please neg this post if you're a fanboy.

for example - car adv draw a lot of similarity between : roads, wiews , sunsets etc. robo-things ... - who's cares ??

It's not just an ad.

Anybody who can't see that this is trying to cop Apple's branding of the iPad isn't looking very closely.

But what should we expect? They copied the device. Why not the advertizing messages?

Apple shows direction (as a faraway leaders , God bless them) and has a lot of followers( no staff like tis "" ). Some of them are better then others obviously - Samsung at the very moment is.
Love my whiteSamsung smartTV panel ))

Well it's fair enough, if you're going to try and sell a product that looks just like an iPad you might as well use an advert that looks just like an iPad's.

This is one of those adverts that makes you say, "It's about time."
Seriously. At least the direction of the commercial means that, in advertising, they are finally starting to "get it". This was the kind of stuff, if you were trying to compete in the first place, they should've done since the beginning. That appealing to the high-tech computer geek stuff was for the birds. The people you want to sell to, to really take that large market, don't care about numbers under the hood. They want practical lifestyle application and improvement. Otherwise, they don't see the point nor whether it is important enough to spend the money. These kind of commercials target the mass-market. Computer savvy number crunchers are always in the stark minority.

I know it clearly isn't a copy of apple considering that they did the exact same things in the ad to the point of laying in bed with a blanket.
No, no, no. That's completely different. Apple's add has a boy looking at dinosaurs while under a blanket propped up like a tent in bed. Samsung has a girl looking at dinosaurs followed by her and her father under a blanket but absolutely no tent mechanism in play. Totally different!

FWIW: I think this argument is silly and agree with those here who have said it probably will drive iPad sales anyway.

Oh good God. Apple sites are becoming utterly obsessed with Samsung now, do you guys have reporters in every country now constantly watching for the next thing you can proclaim they have copied?

And I don't know what rock you've been living under, but TV ads can get away with practically anything, including slating the competition by name! So this is in now way anything new to Samsung and I think it's copying HP more then Apple.

Again, people are ripping Samsung for making 100% "rip-offs" of Apple products.

Then, what's this?

It's true, Apple (or anyone else) doesn't have an exclusive claim to that style of advertising. But, it's glaringly obvious that Samsung is copying Apple's designs and approach at every turn.

Samsung should be ashamed of themselves. It's more than pathetic, it's disgusting. They've lost all integrity whatsoever in my view, and what it has cost them is far greater than what they'll see in Galaxy Tab sales -

I've ceased purchasing all/any Samsung branded products, and it's not just 1 or 2 items - I'm an IT admin and I've ceased purchases of Samsung products at my company too, which was up to dozen products per month. I've switched us to HP products instead.

That's funny. Because I am in charge of selling phones which include the iPhone and Samsung phones. Guess what? We don't sell the iPhones. Well we do what ever it takes because we show them the Nexus and how that's a BETTER product. We now sell thousands more Samsung phones over the iPhone.

In the end the customer always chooses for themselves. 8 out of 10 times it's a Nexus.

The video is now at 39/209 dislikes. The comments are great! :-D

I think the commercial has generic people in the upper middle class fantasy world because they want to re-use the commercial internationally. None of the actors actually say anything and the only english text is "Dinosaur Bones Found" on the tablet. There's some Korean text overlays, but basically you could just replace the narrator and overlay text and give a German voiceover. Job done. Everyone has kids. :p

I want to see the ICS promise pan out on these midsize tablets and I might buy one. I just wish Sony was making it instead of Samsung. :(

Fail troll is fail.

Hey, man, you know. I'm in charge of selling the tablets and let me tell you. If someone wants an iPad, I bother the hell out of them till they buy a Galaxy Tab. That's why Galaxy Tabs are selling so well. :roll eyes:

Oh yeah, and back in the day, if someone came into my Toy Store and wanted a Nintendo, I REALLY let them have it with my 20 minute rant about BLAST PROCESSING. I retained a lot of customers who respected me for my superior product knowledge. My store did go out of business, but that is unrelated.

Yeah, the ad seems to be a generic template for a Galaxy Tab ad. I'm not surprised if there's an English version for the ad for markets with English-speaking majorities (UK, Ireland, USA, Australia etc.)

I thought Sony already has Android tablets.

I think he's trying to gently point out that such microphones have been around since the late 1930s, and thus their use as a symbol followed shortly thereafter.

And no, I'm not saying Google came first either. I'm saying that the photo montage that claimed Google copied Apple's use of a vintage microphone, is bogus.

I agree that various symbols have been popular at different times over the years.

I'm glad someone knows how to use their brain

Because patents are never invalidated by prior art right:rolleyes:? Apple's design was absolutely nothing new there. The ipad is a very nice device, but arguing about similarities in the aesthetics of electronic devices is remarkably stupid.

Their success should be from usability and performance in the end rather than what looks cool. Apple is fully capable of optimizing in this direction rather than trying to just make everything as thin as possible. For example in the macbook air the form factor has a functional use in that it facilitates maximum portability. The only thing thinning the imac ever accomplished was higher internal temperatures.

This is basically what I thought spun off Samsung's newer designs, but it was not released in all countries. For example the US never saw this phone. That one was indicated to have a touch screen in addition to the physical keyboard. The iphone didn't necessarily invent the touch screen or multitouch concept. It just hastened the trend away from physical keyboards. I don't actually dislike the iphone. I dislike the theory that no one outside of Apple has half a brain in terms of product design.

Did this post offend anyone?

I got a warning for "trolling" for posting this quote. Was my post inflammatory or off topic? Straight from the forum rules... "Do not post in order to anger other members or intentionally cause negative reactions." I'm not sure if I'm soliciting a negative reaction from the apple fans or from the samsung fans. Regardless, it's difficult to avoid inciting "nerd rage".

Obviously this forum is for those more dedicated to apple. But why even post this thread if you don't want discussion regarding samsung "copying" apple? Engadget does the same thing, they post something controversial to get posts and then complain when the banter starts.

The moderators don't seem to follow their own rules, I saw many a post calling out LTD as a troll and posting off topic articles to instigate anger get deleted but LTD's ridiculousness remained, pretty lame

Yes one of my posts aimed at LTD was deleted yet his tripe about Samsung using images that have been refuted and shown to be complete **** are allowed to stay and he's not made to answer for it and will continue using this image.

The moderating here is just like the articles posted. It's biased on Apple's behalf and pro-Apple trolls are allowed to remain posting because it helps fuel the flame bait they post as "articles".

Sony makes two androi tablets I think. The S and P, but they aren't reviewed very well and I'm waiting on ICS since 3.2 was so bad they won't open source it. Maybe I'll just go windows 8 tablet. Dunno, I need a some droid for dev purposes. Their simulator is garbage.

Sorry but that is nothing like an Apple advert, the apple adverts are always on a white backdrop with product demos and some guy saying stuff like "this is what you could do if you had an iPad".

Then you haven't seen the last 3-4 of them because they are almost exactly this new Samsung ad, especially the voiceover part.

ANd the addition of that voiceover, in message and tone, is why folks are calling this 'copied'.

So you kind of lie to your customers to get them to choose the phone you're a fanboy of?

Oh, I'm sure plenty of people come up with great designs that rival Apple...then, being the types of companies that they are, corners are cut and the user experience is lessened by executives trying to save pennies per phone. Even when they go all out on a "premium device", they still manage to screw something up. And no, I'm no Apple fanboy, just noticing a big difference between Apple products I own and the others.

But rarely is that actually true in the way you want to imply.

A small cut of customers have done their research and know what they want and will get that. But we are talking 5, perhaps 10% at most.

The rest come to sales people because they trust them to know what they are talking about. So when a sales person pushes them to one device or another saying it is the best, they trust that the sales person is not just selling them a line because of higher commissions, quotas etc.
