Yes, I forgot that Apple patented white gadgets.

I can't believe how much you people hate anything that is not Apple..

Are you seriously implying that the only resemblance between this Galaxy Tab and the iPhone 3GS is that it's white? Seriously???

I dislike companies that don't do their own work. This category happens to include Samsung.

No, they also have a screen.

Oohhh, My God, Samsung has copied Apple, they also have put a screen in a gadget

Seriously? Are you comparing a 3GS with a Galaxy Tab 8.9? You can do it better, you're losing your touch

So apple does Allll their own work? Are you really going to go down that dark alley??

It doesn't look like ipad at all. Stop bitching.

Apple doesn't have patent on white colored gadgets and simple geometric shaped designs.

What's an "American looking" person.

I get how you're trying to deride me here (anyone could be American), but let me ask you this. Do you think it's impossible to look American by way of dress or setting? The items they "own" led me to believe they're American. It doesn't matter where they're actually from. The commercial was clearly meant to look like they were American and not South Korean.

That's like asking what a tourist looks like. If you're a local, you know it when you see it.

How dare Samsung used a plain back with a camera lens and flash for their tablet!

As far as I know, Apple does not own simple designs. The lack of rationalism in this thread is astounding.

It's not uncommon for a commercial to be made in one country and shown all around the world under different languages.

As America is a melting pot of nationalities, using American looking actors keeps such an ad from being offensive in countries that harbor ill feelings towards their neighbors or other peoples... and also might even have a bit of upscale middle-class feeling to it.

Yes, and this too looks nothing like anything from Apple.

The above is the Sprint version, btw. The Verizon version has a black textured back:

In any case, the camera position isn't unique. Most devices have it there or in the center. A rounded white case back also is certainly not novel:

I know how the industry works and why those choices were made, I work in it. I just find it stupid. That's all. I'd never advise a client to shoot a commercial in America for an Asian market.

What I don't get is why these companies do this against reason. It's saving money on the front end and losing it on the back end. I know I'd get tired of seeing commercials that clearly weren't made for me but were dubbed and I wouldn't really want to spend my money with them either.

Since they used the same actress... I think it's likely.

The actress most probably comes from an agency and Apple and Samsung use the same talent agency for their ads.

I see actors doing tons of different commercials, even for competitors, all the time.

People reading way too much into this. Grasping at the "copying!" straws. It's become a sort of paranoia in the Apple community, quite unhealthy if you ask me.

Initially I thought it did not necessarily copy the look and feel of the Apple ads. But after I found out they used the same actress, I think they really did copy Apples ad and even removed it because of this. Looks very suspicious

Removing it makes sense only if Samsung didn't know about it.

If it was done on purpose (by anyone higher than the ad agency), then they'd want to get more mileage out of it.

I've spent a lot of time in Korea. Many people there admire American technology and family life, even while some young don't like the troops stationed there.

I can only give Samsung the benefit of the doubt, only so many times, then it becomes apparent.

Maybe the production company took some of the B-Roll, tracked the shots and replaced the home button and sensors, and moved them to match the Galaxy Tab. :D

Interesting. I know American culture is admired in places, it just seems like it'd get old if every commercial had people that you couldn't specifically relate to in it. :)

The last time I was in Ireland, early 90s country music was the thing in certain places there. It was horrible.
