Yea it's going to sit in the antique museum. Not going anywhere.3.5 mm jacks aren't going anywhere, I assure you.
Sanyo for the win!
On tablets sure...3.5 mm jacks aren't going anywhere, I assure you.
I don't think Apple ever planned on using USB C on i-devices, especially as iPhones get more space constrained in the coming years. USB C requires a port that's even larger than the micro USB it's replacing.

That is probably the one thing they could do to win any more business from me.
Until then, I can't help but see them as the money-grubbing run-of-the-mill corporation that they have proven themselves to be.
They made it fatter where the camera is, they could do the same at the connector. They could have put the connector at the other end and just had a single bulge in that general area to account for both camera and connector.I don't think Apple ever planned on using USB C on i-devices, especially as iPhones get more space constrained in the coming years. Not sure it's so much about leading the way, but more a case of you jump first Apple. Now they've seen the backlash of Apple's "courageous" decision.Of course this was coming. No phones will have 3.5mm jacks in 5 years.
Apple once again leads the way in dropping outdated technology to drag us into the future.
Wireless audio may be the future, but in it's current implementation it is a mess. We had more choice with the previous generation of the iPhones as you could still use bluetooth headphones and those who prefer wired could still use those. By eliminating the headphone port it did nothing but eliminate choice to the end-user.Wireless IS the way forward. Fact.
And nope. Never had a 3D TV, I knew 4K was going to take off and bought one ages ago.
Get over it! Thanks!
It may be an inconvenience for you but the majority of people don't have pcs or macs the use usbc yet.We can rip on Samsung all we want for copying Apple. But hey, at least they're using USB-C instead of stupid Lightning.
Apple has been one of the pioneers of USB-C implementation, yet they don't even want to use it in their mobile devices....It's SUCH a HUGE inconvenience!
Apple will never use usbc for the iPhone. Lighting has a smaller port and won't compromise the thinness and design. Everyone sits behind their keyboards and type nonsense, ignoring the logical reasons for the way apple does things. While not a fan of removing the headphone jack, at least Samsung used a standard connector rather than a proprietary connector like Apple.

Well, it might seem alien to you, as you call people who don't like iphones "demonizers" (hyperbolic much?)
But in Apple world, Apple makes a change to the phone you aren't 100% happy with, Tough. You want to use an iPhone, you have to take what Apple gives you
That is NOT true in Android Land. In Android land, if a manufacturer does something to annoy the user base, there is plenty of choice to go elsewhere and speak with your wallet. If Samsung DOES drop the headphone jack, and it IS an unpopular move, users will dump samsung and go with one of the many other high quality manufacturers.
So what would those "iPhone Demonizers" buy if not samsung? HTC, Huawei, Sony, other samsung phones, Xiaomi, etc. etc .etc. there are dozens of good quality Android handset makers. And we're not in 2007 anymore, Even the lower cost midrange android devices are very smooth and functional devices capable of day to day operating without any real impact to the user.
Nothing is free and you'd be deluded to believe Apple have given us stuff out of the plain old goodness of their hearts. Did you notice that the nice plastic box the headphones usually come in was missing? No, they got shot of that for cardboard and that's where the money for your free adapter came from. Their obsessiveness for form factor at the cost of functionality is what drove them to remove the jack (I'm still mad at them taking the optical drives away on the Macs). By the way, where's my Airpods?!!Yes, they were so anxious to grub your money that they gave you a set of lightning equipped headphones and a free adapter in case you were one of the rare ones who didn't use either wireless or the included earbuds. Oh, and they lowered the price of extra adapters to essentially their cost. $9.00 And in return, they used that space to give you a bigger battery, a new larger camera, stereo speakers, waterproofing and better taptic engine., that and more without any price increase. Boy, those greedy bastards aren't very good at being greedy, but we see your point Winston, kind of, I guess, . ..well .... hey, quick, there's some kids on your lawn!

Of course Apple should have put a dongle or different lead in the box or dumped lightning for USB-C. (They did stick a headphone one in the iPhone box so I really don't get all the uproar over that.)
I bought two USB-A to USB-C connectors for £5 from Amazon. If you can't afford that you should not be buying a £700 phone or a £3000 laptop. There has always been a certain amount of pain in buying the latest and greatest from Apple and they've always been gouging b@stards! As long as we keep buying their stuff, they'll keep doing it. We are their bitches.
