Bill Bixby turned into Hulk. That's all they need. A phone that turns into an volatile and uncontrollable monster. Exactly what happened to the Galaxy 7:confused:

The actual irony is that there have been more iPhone related battery incidents than Note 7 by some margin.

And there have been 0 deaths due to note 7........its killed 0.... so stats wise, its a non event

That's not ironic, it's just a misunderstanding of facts and statistics on your part.

You'll also find the vast majority of iPhone related battery incidents are caused by external factors, such as damage to the phone, dodgy repairs and dodgy 3rd party accessories. The rest are just background noise from Li-Ion defect rates.

The difference with the Note 7 is there was something fundamentally wrong with the phone itself.

Yes, I wish people would understand the difference between a manufacturing defect causing fires, compared to fires caused by other factors (damage from punctured battery, poor repairs, temperature outside operating levels, etc.)

Frustratingly, it seems to be the same posters who keep saying the same thing and keep getting corrected. They are willingly choosing to ignore the facts, either out of spite or just to incite a reaction around here.

Check the stats on note 7 related deaths to gun related deaths . Talk about making a huge issue out of nothing. Some people's hatred of apples competitirs is so selfish on these forums .
Poor attempt at gun control. My guns never kill anyone and I'll never get rid of them. I buy new guns every month. I don't even hunt

Don't be silly. It is not supposed to even be compared to guns and deaths. This is a consumer product people pay lot of money to safely use it and they don't expect the thing to explode. I may not like Samsung that much but this device was great ( apart from the fault) and Samsung did great on dealing with the issue.

Hmm, device designed to kill things vs. personal computing device. Let's check the stats on dropped calls with guns, why don't we?

Selfish? Really, that's the word you come up with?

Another bonus for devices with removable batteries

What's that death count upto ?? Massive 0 and climbing at Astronimical rates ?? 0

Irony yeah...

So we shouldn't have any regulations or rules until after someone dies? Pure unadulterated idiocy.

That's precisely what you're saying. Death count means nothing because there were drastic measures put into place immediately. The need for those measures clearly represents the severity of the dangers this phone has.

Just because it does not kill as many people as guns doesn't mean it's safe.
This comparison is less about the danger coming from the Note 7, but a stark reminder that when it comes to accidental deaths, many people accept an, in comparison much higher, risk with guns.

A gun is a device purpose-built to kill or injure. A smartphone is a communications device. Your comparison isn't even on the Apples-to-Oranges scale - they're not even in the same category of things...

Spontaneously bursting into flames is an event, even if it doesn't kill anyone. The zero body count is just luck. If this had happened on a plane this could have been a different matter.

This thread reminds me of the 'cannabis never killed anyone' argument

This is true, but you can do a hell of a lot of damage to something/someone without killing them.

Don't click on the article then.
Hey, friend. It's 2017, and a brand new year, be a little more welcoming please. I'll click any article, and make any comment, thank you. The Samsung issue was done to death last year. More focus on Apple and less on the competition would be refreshing considering this is the macrumors site.

Pretty sure guns are supposed to kill people.

I see what you did there — compared 9 YEARS worth of iPhone to one model of Galaxy Note. And it's well-known that any iPhone battery-related event was due to someone using an unsafe third-party charger, or not giving the phone the thermal ventilation that any device needs. Stories of people talking about their bed catching on fire due to the iPhone is exactly that, not a fault of the device, just user stupidity.

It did happen on a plane, but only at the moment of boarding, so evacuation was easy. That's why the FAA banned the device on all flights.

As long as they don't know what made the battery to explode their future phones will be still at risk. I think they still don't know why the batteries were faulty

So it was probably caused by Samsung rushing to get the phone out then. Things often go wrong when products are pushed out the door before being thoroughly tested.

You won't like it when it's angry.

+1 for those who get this reference:D

So... They basically discovered nothing in all these months... They claimed that battery was responsible for it several months ago, and they used that excuse to refuse recalling Note 7 in mainland China. (Cause they have a different battery supplier there)

Explosions in mainland China can't change their mind but instead they bribed users to make them silent. Until more and more explosions took place, they finally admitted it and began the recalling process in mainland China, without any proper/acceptable official apologies.

I read many reports about that and feel shocked with what Samsung did. Now they are using the ridiculous excuse to deceive global users??? Is there any bottom line for this company?
