Seahawks & equal treatment

sherman wore them before the seahawks game on camera.. i wonder if hell be fined too

If Sherman does go "undetected," and is not punished - hah! - by the NFL, then we'll know for sure there are still two sets of standards in force with the NFL.

It's either yes, you can pummel your lady or no. You can either wear your Beats, or no. You can either take (fill in the blank) or no.

Get it figured out for gosh sakes, NFL!

This is stupid. Now I am not a fan of Beats headphones, neither was I a fan of Bose headphones (although I do have a pair of noise canceling from when Bose was the only one avaialble.) However, now I will never ever buy another Bose product, period. Why? Because this is just a silly restriction of freedom. Just because the NFL has a sponsorship agreement should not mean that NFL players are lorded and mastered over as if they are slaves being told what they can and cannot wear off the field. If they are not in a team uniform, then tough, they should be able to wear what they want.

Silver Lining

The one good thing that I do see in this whole Beats/Sony/Bose song and dance is the rising popularity of headphones. I've always hated ear buds. They make my ears hurt and they chronically fall out of my ears. For a few years it was very hard to even find anything other than buds, certainly not at a reasonable price. Now full headphones are coming back and I'm very happy about that.

I hope this whole thing blows up in the NFL's face. I would never buy beats, but to tell people what headphones they can wear is ridiculous.
I'm guessing you don't really follow sports much then. EVERYTHING is sponsored. And showing up the sponsor is bad for business.

if i was beats id send out a whole bunch of the headphones to all prominent NFL athletes now with a blank (unsigned...) cheque and a sticky note saying " ;) "

Forgot to say, this kind of poor behavior by corporations will continue until people give them enough grief to stop. You might say why bother? Well because next time it will be what they eat, what clothes they wear, and what they can say etc., etc, etc. Maybe already is that way, but we should push back against reductions in our freedoms no matter how small and petty.

I hate these kind of corporate deals, they always make me think less of the offending companies involved.

Why even allow something like this? I think he should be able to use what he wants to use. I won't comment on the poor quality of Beats headphones, but if he likes them, why not allow him to use them?

If you want to advertise Bose, a few signs, and ads during games are enough. Don't force the individual HUMAN BEINGS into doing something or using something etc that they don't want to.

From what I heard from my friend working at Apple HQ, they instructed everyone sponsored by Beats in the NFL to defy the ban, and continue to wear the headphones, as Apple is going to pay for it.

As for Bose, Apple is in process of removing all of their products from Apple Store by the end of the month. They do plan on announcing couple of audio accessories at the keynote.

As if he truly cares about breast cancer awareness

Pink Beats aren't the only way to wear pink, but of course he had to make a statement some kinda way

They may as well just call this what it is:

"BOSE pays millions so that Beats can get better advertising for $10K"

If I were Apple, I would be cutting 10K checks left and right getting this out there. For what the NFL charges?! Sheesh. They could do this 100 times and STILL come out cheaper than a handful 30 second spots during the playoffs!

And this creates FAR more interest. Now fans know players would rather be FINED than use BOSE gear instead of Beats.

It doesn't get much better than that from a popularity perspective.

I've never seen a batch of more clueless responses than I'm seeing here. It's called advertising, marketing, promotion, sponsorship, brand awareness. All companies big and small engage in those activities. It's what drives our economy. Nothing works until something gets sold.

Bose has a deal with the NFL to promote it's products. If you have individual employees actively displaying competing products you've got a problem.

And that problem is with the employees. In this case Kapernick. He's effectively giving his bosses the middle finger by doing this. And they're punishing him. Its the way the world works. Get used to it. Oh, and the Easter Bunny isn't real.

I'm guessing you don't really follow sports much then. EVERYTHING is sponsored. And showing up the sponsor is bad for business.

I understand how it works, I just think it is insulting and stupid. I guess they wouldn't be able to actually keep the league going if they had to rely on revenue from people attending.

That's part of the whole problem. You have guys getting paid millions of dollars to run around throwing a ball (I'm a football fan BTW) and to support that you have to get sponsors to make sure the owners keep making millions for themselves.

How about we pay everyone a little less and stop telling everyone what soft drink\shoes\headphones\etc. they have be seen using.
