Hey, where are you located and what are the specs? I might be interested...
Given what we know, this may be a pretty minor bump in specs...if so, will the Apple stores have some "current" (now) soon to be "older" (on Tuesday) models marked down? Or, will the online store pretty quickly have some on mark-down like they did with the 1st Gen iPads when the iPad2 came out. Just looking for some thoughts from the Mac Vets, here...

iMac with SSD is awesome. I want thunderbolt, but will probably wait until there are devices released.
They will be listed under the Refurbished Section. It will be a good deal, yes. It sounds like you wouldn't need the newest model anyway.
At the same token, by 2016 optical media capacity will also increase and be cheaper than your 50GB flash chip.
OK, we're all expecting SB and Thunderbolt, along with better GPUs. We can reasonably take these improvements for granted.
But the big question as always : what prices we're gonna get? I surely hope Apple doesn't increase the price on all 4 models like they did not long ago.
Please please Steve, no increase this time, and even better, a slight drop would be mostly welcome.
After all, the financial results have been terrific several quarters in a row, isn't it time to give a little back to the fans? Like a 100$ drop accross the line

Well of course it will. Processing speed is only one of the reasons people buy Mac Pros. I'll predict that a SB iMac quad will easily go faster than any one of the current Mac Pros and maybe even faster than the corrent hexacore.
Why do they want OS X users to feel as if we were on an iPad!!!???

Apple is doing it. if you have any better ideas that *will* raise the bar and represent the Gold Standard for the rest of the industry, please let Apple know. They might be hiring.
You are also stuck in current times. Physical media will be dead by then, everything is going to be cloud based, there will be no such thing as a physical copy of movies any more
The bottleneck is internet speed. Until the world has South Korean-esque internet speeds, physical media isn't going anywhere.
As others have mentioned already, the last redesign was in the Fall of 2009. Before that was the Fall of 2007 (before that was January 2006 with the switch to Intel). The redesign cyles seem to be approx every two years. So 2011 could see another redesign, especially when the last two redesigns coincided with an OS X upgrade. That's why I keep saying look for a redesign this Fall, just before or just after Lion is released.

No, it has been two years since the previous redesign. That is when the screen sizes changed from 20" and 24" to 21.5 and 27".
Good points. Thunderbolt won't really be usable for anything until at least this Fall.
Be prepared to be surprised this Fall.

Yup, I think Steve has made it loud and clear, it's Thunderbolt all the way. Apple won't be using USB 3 as an interim bridge to, or alongside Thunderbolt.
No it hasn't. Technically, the iMac has only been the same since the last refresh, and less technically, since the last redesign--which was in the Fall of 2009.
Yes, the iMac was redesigned from the white housing and S-PVA LCD panels to the aluminum housing and IPS (and TN) panels in the Fall of 2007.
Excellent, you are correct. The last redesign was not trivial. And look for a possible redesign this Fall to coincide with the release of Lion. I'm not guarranteeing anything here, it's just been the pattern the last two redesigns.
I agree. Blu-ray is nice, but on a computer, even a 27" iMac, it's not reaching it's full potential, IMO. Besides, you can always input your PS3 to your iMac if necessary.

From iMacs there is only one (half) step to Cinema Display refresh, boy I would appreciate that... 24-isch inch with antiglare...

I plan on moving onto MAC OS (from Windows 7) but I wanted to wait for Lion, but I'm also quite impatient since the iMac is perfect for me.

Yes. Traditionally OS X upgrades cost $129, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was $99 or $79 this time around. Apple has been dropping their software prices lately.
