Ok.. THIS is ridiculous..

My husband has an original iphone, he's had it for 1 year, he has had a leather case on it for some time now.

well, he had his phone in his back pocket and sat down in the car.. Now, with the way all guys wear their pants, its not like you are really KILLING the phone with pressure. His back pockets are low enough that they are not "bending" the phone with pressure. Just like if your phone was sitting on the couch and you sat on it.

Anyways, he sat down in his car and went to pull it out because he realized he sat on it and IT WAS CRACKED.

the most messed up thing about it was, i am PRETTY use the case did it! The crack is RIGHT where the case goes over the front near the ear piece..
and its not just CRACKED, its pretty shattered.

Think maybe i should call the case makers?

Yeah, good luck.
Call them up and say what?
I sat on my iphone but your case shattered my iphones screen, not cause I put my weight on an object made out of glass and plastic and broke it.
Obviously it was an accident and whoever sat on it should take responsibility for the mistake instead of looking at places to put the blame on.

not looking to really place blame, i was just asking if you thought it was the case's fault. I mean, how many of you had sat on your phone and nothing bad happened? I really think it was the case's placement that caused it to crack

who keeps their phone in their back pocket?! really? I dont know many guys who dont.

i dont know any guys that do, really.
mine goes in my front right, and keys in the left. always. sort of OCD i guess, but it's how i roll.

well.. i guess it depends on how tight/loose your pants are.

I have sat on my phone a bunch of times.. either had it under something on the couch, or fell under me while getting in the car.. Who hasn't accidentally sat on their phone?

That's why I use silicone cases, I don't like how the iPhone sits in those other cases.

I have actually had my iPhone in my back pockets all the time, even sitting on it lightly and never had it crack. I

It must be the fault of the case. I don't know what the case actually looks like, but I've never heard of it cracking in that manner just by sitting on it.

I would never put something like an iphone in the back pocket cause a wrong bend of the butt and that glass is gone :D
Sometimes Im even afraid to put it in my front pocket if the jeans are kinda tight.
I wouldnt risk it, dont feel like paying $500 for a replacement.

Pressure causes things to crack. Not every situation is the same and this time it cracked.

Plus when your sitting on it in the back pocket you are also stretching/bending the phone and putting alot of pressure on the glass screen.
It should be common sense not to put an iphone back there. Other rugged phones you could get away with it but with an iphone you're taking a big risk.

Why have a phone if your scared to put it in your pocket. Personally, some of you are just over protective. Yeah, phones get scratches and digs in our house, but we are usually careful enough not to KILL them. But i'm sure not gonna make it my full time job to CARE for it.

It wasn't BENT which is why it was weird. I could have understood if it was in MY jeans, which are worn pretty darn tight, and it was stressed from bending, but it wasnt like this. It was JUST like sitting on a phone thats on a couch.. flat. his jean pockets are WELL below the bend in his pants.

Yeah, I assume that the pressure set on the case caused it to bend down and cause it to crack the screen.

Some of you are a little to protective over your phones... I mean, the iPhone is one strong device (have you seen those scratch tests...:p).

The crack does seem to start from the case. I would call the manufacturer and really cause a stink. Though having it in your back pocket wasn't the smartest decision, its set to protect your phone.

WOW it was just enough pressure at that point to crack it. I don't put my phone in my back pocket, I put it in the front when I do. I put an old work phone years ago in my back pocket and cracked the screen. It was nothing major so I just kept using it. It doesn't take much now with these touch screen phones. My wife has hers in her purse and her case has a cover that snaps over the screen to protect it and I use the Otter case and that just clips to my belt and once ina while in my front pocket.

Not all of us guys where our pants so low in the rear that you can see our butt crack, like some inner city gang banger.

My work pants (I use carpenters pants) have pockets are low on them so I can see how her husband can get away with this. I even have pants that have pockets on the leg itself also, and I don't wear my pants low at all.

haha.. You just called my husband an inner city gang banger.. LMAO.
yea.. this guy is TOTALLY a gang banger

Unless you wear some pants super tight and high, your back pocket would be UNDER your butt..

I think you should tell the hubby not to sit on phones anymore. That would be easier than raising a stink with the manufacturer of the case and getting laughed at.

I wasnt going to really make a stink about getting money back.. but if other people have a phone that goes over the front like that, right where the ear piece is, you should think twice about using it.. Unless youre one of those baby your phone and carry it in a velor pouch and return it every time it gets a scratch.

I'm one of those "don't sit on the damn thing" phone owners.:D

It's people like you who screw everything up for everyone else. This wasn't the casemaker's fault, this is the fault of some freaking idiot who couldn't take care of their expensive smartphone. Don't blame the casemaker for something that someone should have known.
