I have the Matias wireless aluminum keyboard in space gray because Apple does not make a wireless keyboard in space grey without the keypad. It’s fine, and, like this Satechi, you can switch between three devices. Like you said, the quality isn’t the same, the keys rattle slightly, and once the G got a little sticky, but overall I’m satisfied. I like Satechi’s addition of backlit keys. The biggest problem with third-party keyboards, at least Matias and others I’ve read about, is that sometimes you get into pairing issues on start up, because the kernel looks for a third party Bluetooth keyboard at a different time in the boot cycle. This means that sometimes after a restart, pairing is lost and I need to keep a cheap wired keyboard around to get past the login screen and reconnect the wireless keyboard. It’s a pain, but doesn’t happen often enough to be a real pain.I've purchased a few Matias and Satechi keyboards for the office. While they are not as refined as the Apple keyboards, they're pretty nice, and way cheaper. In an office where employees spill liquids on their keyboards more frequently than I'd like, I usually give them non-Apple keyboard replacements. They're a bit disappointed at first, then realize that they're actually pretty good. Not complaints so far. I just can't be spending $179 (CAD) every time someone spills their drink.
A keyboard is all about the typing experience. You’ve never even touched this keyboard and it’s ”way better“? Try thinking before your next comment?Way better than the so called "Magic Keyboard" I'm interested.
Me too! I got the Matias with high hopes, but I constantly had issues with keys double typing. I thought maybe it was just getting used to it or something, but it never got better and I eventually replaced it with a Logitech Solar keyboard. I'd much rather have a wired keyboard. Hopefully htis one is nice quality! My Apple wired keyboard died a month back, and since Apple no longer has any wired keyboards I got a Matias. It's okay, but the keys aren't nearly as responsive as Apple's version and often stick. So I'll check out Satechi's wired version when it's available. That's a decent price.
That is a good looking iPad stand. I might look into getting one.
I am not buying anything from AliExpress. If I need to return a Chinese knockoff, I have to ship to China, hope my package doesn't get conveniently lost, and then wait and wait for a refund for $14.00. That isn't worth the possible hassle for me.These look very similar but just without the Satechi logo...at 1/4 of the price.
They actually come in 5 colors; and just like you I have the R1, but might get this as my fixed desktop stand.I've had good experiences with Satechi products over the years, including USB-C hubs and stands and power/charging accessories.
If you're interested in the stand, you might check out Satechi's older "R1 Aluminum Multi-Angle Foldable Tablet Stand" at Amazon. It's price is $10 lower and it comes in 3 color options. On the downside, the R1's base is a bit smaller than the base of this new one, making it potentially a bit less stable - but I've been using the R1 with my 2020 11" iPad Pro with no problems for the past 6 months. And the smaller base makes it weigh less and take up less space in my briefcase or travel bag.
That said, I might relegate my R1 to my travel bag and get this new stand for my home office, especially since there's a 20% off coupon good this week.
Really now? You judge a keyboard being better without even laying one finger to see how it types first? Same type of blind judgement that comes from Windows users. As long as the specs look good on paper it must be better than Apple's stuff. SMHWay better than the so called "Magic Keyboard" I'm interested.
Can't be any worse than the MX Keys.
