TUAW.com posts that the iTunes Music Store has been refreshed to offer a number of new items including Saturday Night Live episodes.

A few sketch collections by year are available as well as a number of Best of's including Christopher Walken, Adam Sandler, and Glida Radner to name a few.

The Best of's will set you back $1.99 each while the sketch collections go for $9.99.

More information about new releases from Apple as it comes.

This can't be the sole reason ITMS was down. They've added more content than this without shutting down the whole store. I think we're gonna see something bigger and more exciting added to the mix tomorrow.

edit: or I guess i have to say "later today" at this point.

Just bought the "Best of Gilda Radner" SNL. Its running time is 1 hr 32 minutes and it downloaded in just over 30 minutes... not too shabby for a full-length movie. It's definitely meant to watched on the iPod, however... on a larger screen the pixilation is quite obvious.

This is EXACTLY the kind of news we want... out of the way ahead of time so it doesn't waste precious keynote :)

Also, I'd rather have "The Best of The Big Ear Family" than actual SNL.

I find it kind of strange that Apple could trademark Vingle - standing for Video Single - as it wasn't Apple who came up with the term. Apparently it has been used for a couple of years.. Stupid laws protecting the big companies. http://www.vingle.org was registered in 2003 for video single downloads, but they haven't come up with anything more than a dull frontpage yet..

Interesting-the first "Vingle" appears to be only available on some iTMS stores-and not on the European and Japan stores yet.
Edit-it's called "Beep" and costs for us in Australia, $3.39 (same price as a music video).

I got best of Dan Aykroyd and Chris Walken

Walken

I'm 2/3 into Aykroyd's right now, it's really funny. I wish there was a Bill Murray one . . .

Vingle Crap

This is pretty ridiculous. Paying for a music video. Are the record companies hurting that bad or are they just that greedy? I'll wait till it's playing on Much Music for free, 5 times an hour. Goddamnit.

What exactly is a Vingle supposed to be? The MacRumors report indicates it is $2.49 so I'm assuming it's a package containing both the Video and the Song. Is this correct? I clicked on the Pussycat Dolls new Vingle link in iTMS and it just took me to a regular video for $1.99 however.

This kind of premature spillage isn't very Apple, I love it though :)

Thinking about it I couldn't agree more.
Vidoes are promotional devices in the same way TV ads are.
If they want to charge for it it should be the same price as the single!!

Sorry if this is slightly off-context. On my way to check out SNL in iTunes, I found a box that says there is a free, promotional episode of "Monk".

However, clicking on that box links to the usual, fully commercial page. What's the deal with that?

And being an iTunes Music Store newbie...I don't even know if I could get the promotional video since I live in Japan?

That may have been off topic so I'll end with what I think of "Vingle" - what other people have said about video singles being promotional anyway makes sense. And the term "Vingle" sounds kinda stupid if you ask me.

They don't have the pricing quite right yet either. Originally, all of those SNL episodes were marked at the $1.99 price, and now they are at the $9.99 pricetag. Can't wait to see what happens this morning!
