If the clear material is polycarbonate (Lexan) you will be looking at something that will scuff or mar the stainless steel antenna overtime.

Perhaps it is designed so that the polycarbonate "stands off" from the antenna

Got my case a about 2 weeks ago. I LOVE IT.

I have tried the apple bumper, candyshell and a host of rubber cheap-o's from ebay.

1. It fits tight and its thin, doesn't add much bulk.

2. The clear band around the side shows off the design of the iphone and it does not touch the metal. There is a rubber internal lip that gives it about a 1mm clearance. I was worried about that before i got it, but its a non issue.

3. The logo on the side bothered me, I took some 1000 grit sandpaper, took it off, cleaned it, then applied a coat of "future floor wax" in that area (secret modeling technique). Blended it perfectly, retains the shine of the rest of the case. Took all of about 30 minutes to do it.

4. The buttons are a harder to press due to the tougher rubber, not a issue for me since i rarely use the buttons, even when I have to.. doesnt bother me.

5. Connector on the bottom fits all the connectors i have - generic and apple ones. It does NOT fit the "clip in" old school ones though.

6. Price I got mine from newegg for 15 bucks shipped.

7. I use screen protectors SGP on the top and bottom, its a great combo with the case and most importantly DID NOT peel them up like other cases.

8. I know some people worried about the little "marks" on the clear part. Yes mine has them, Im sure ALL of them will, being in modeling this looks exactly like when you "snap" a piece of plastic off the sprue. Its tiny and IMHO again nothing to worry about.

9. This case/bumper rocks.

Got mine today after paying for expedited shipping and it's defective. Two chips in the clear band, one on each side. Too bad because I like the product. Back it goes and hope they do the right thing.

Unfortunately, that's the deal with all of these cases. It's where the mold is broken off in the manufacturing process. Your replacement will look the same.

I've since returned mine, and have been using the Apple Bumper.

A few questions:

1. Are the buttons really that hard to press? Can anyone compare it to the CandyShell by Speck

2. Will it suffer the same elastic problem the Bumper seems to be having?

3. Does it trap dust easily along the edges?

4. Will it lift screen protectors or back protectors? Specifically the SGP Oleophobic and the SGP Leather?

No
Maybe, but I didn't see it happening in the time I had it
No
Not sure

Hmm...missed that in the reviews. Guess I'll deal with it then as I like it otherwise.

I am sorry but I ordered one of theses. it was very crappy with the molding issues and the cheap hard buttons.

Just got this case, and I like it better than the Apple Bumper. To anyone with the very hard sleep/power button, here's a fix that works great.... take a very sharp exacto knife and cut the long sides of the sleep/awake button (on the case, not the phone of course!), making a slit along the entire length of the long sides of the button. Leave only the material at the curved ends of the button uncut. When this is done, if done with a sharp blade, it's unnoticeable. But what it does is disconnect most of that hard material from the case itself, making the button VERY responsive and restores its tactile feedback. Very quick and easy mod to make the button usable, and it's undetectable (as far as modifying the case goes). I used this on my Marware SportGrip Edge, and it makes the buttons work wonderfully. You can do it on the volume buttons also, but those are a lot smaller and need a very steady hand.

Personally, don't think it looks better than the Bumper, especially the black one, on the black iPhone, but it has a better mute switch cut-out.

^ It does!

I used nail polish remover. BUT ...WARNING: it also removes some of the sheen from the polycarbonate. It's not very visible, but it's just slightly less shiny than the rest of the band. Still better than the stupid logo, IMO.

put the shine back with clear coat scratch remover from Meiguars at any auto parts store
