but have you fallen since putting on that power balance?!?!?!

So where the heck does my power balance has to do with this scratches topic anyway? And why are you so concern about me falling? If you need one for yourself ? Then go buy it in under armor or dicks sporting shop

I'm getting a space grey sport...and I'm getting a glass screen protector. Scratches on the screen BUG me, so I'm gonna be protected. The ion X glass will scratch just like the iPhone...and I have a glass protector on there, too. Some don't care..that's great! I do. $11 isn't bad to protect against scratches.

I'm just wondering how often you wear watches. I tend to wear one every day and unless you're just plain careless of ignorant, you really don't need to worry about the screen being scratched.

That doesn't really look like scratches to me. It looks more like the pattern you get when hair is rubbed against oil. I'm sure it scratches easily, but to have a rough patch on the bottom side after one week is hard to believe.

Nilay is hairy and oily...mystery solved. Bastard left it on top of his on purpose I bet.

I wear a watch just about every day. I've never spent much on them, but I've had a Bulova and I have a couple Invicta's. I also had a Fitbit surge. Wearing a watch that is set on the outside of the wrist can easily hit a wall, door, etc and get scratched. I've had that happen to my watches. Sapphire won't have a big issue...not so sure about Ion X glass.

But...I guess I'm IGNORANT. Sometimes I just don't get people on this site.

Reminds me of a famous thread on one of the watch forums by an OCD guy who coated his cheap watches with a coat of Elmer's glue to keep them from getting scratched. No joke.

Exactly!

My advice: if he's really that obsessed with bumpers, I suggest he put one all over his body. This way, he won't have to worry about anything ever again.

Coatings always rub off eventually. With stainless steel, it's easy enough to buff out any scratches with a polishing cloth or a paper towel and some metal polish. Just don't overdo it, though.

I was thinking that also but worry about the DLC chipping/scratching showing the metal underneath, making the scratching really stand out.

My watches have always been doorknob magnets, scratched them all except my cheap ironman

Well accidents do happen, sorry for making assumptions. I just must have had some good luck when it comes to my watches

It's a watch...

I have many, made of different materials, finished differently. They all scratch, and I'm very careful. Some easier than others.

The one surefire way to avoid scratches is don't buy one.

watch verge video didnt seem anything old but ran across reddit post and saw and oh...

and not sure what that power thing is around that charging area. someone mention dead skin but not expert on that field.

my theory is that the test watches everyone got weren't brand spanking new. they were the same models that were tossed around at the watch event a few months back and then a few weeks back. and so the scratches were already there from months of testing. this would also explain why NONE of the reviews have mentioned how "easily" the watch scratch. you'd think that would be worth a mention given scuffgate from a few years back.

You seriously think Apple would send out scuffed out devices to the very few who may greatly influence whether people buy them or not?

The clowns in this forum will tell you that they refuse to use any cases/protection for their phones and it's flawless.. yet if you looked at it, it'd be full of scratches, just like the watch in that picture. This is why a bumper/case is not a bad idea for the watch. Spine just put up a bunch on their site.

As a clown I can tell you that I have been going commando on my iPhone's and iPads for the past 3 years and I get top dollar when I sell them. Most are surprised at how good my stuff looks.

The assumption that because some people's daily use maybe more abusive then others doesn't necessarily speak volumes about your judgement.

But, as a clown, who has never broken an iPhone or gotten less then full amount on sale due to it being perfect, my opinion doesn't matter.

One more thing, if you knew me you'd know I don't necessarily baby things. My wife often calls me a bull in a china shop.

I'm not overly concerned.

I had a stainless steel Movado (Movado Sphero) with gold accents for about a year and a half in a server room. Most of the wear and tear I saw was on the band. The body itself was almost perfect.

The watch itself looked really really smudgy in the pictures. Yes there maybe hairline scratches but I'd guess if this is something you are into then with a good polishing it won't be as obvious.

After wearing a SS, I don't think they're scratches. Observe.

Actually I take it back, his is definitely scratched. It's because he plops it on top of his keys. He's a dolt. Your SS will be fine.

Yes. I seriously think that. If Apple said, "Hey we're going to send you an early Apple Watch for review. Only caveat is that it has a couple of scratches on the sides and the back because we haven't gotten production up and running yet." I would say **** YEAH don't care about scratches it's just a review unit.

It'll look huge and ridiculous on your arm with a bumper on it, and you will look ridiculous wearing a watch with a bumper on it. Seriously, who puts a bumper on their watch? Nobody, that's who. (Who isn't a complete dork out of touch with reality, that is.)

People put bumpers (and other protection) on their phones because the risk they may accidentally drop it, but with a watch strapped to your arm there's no risk of that - unless your arm were to say, fall off, or something. In which case you probably got bigger concerns than a possible scratch on your watch...

I just laughed a lot, thanks for that.

My Citizen has scratches all over it but unless you really look you can't tell and still looks great.
Like others have said, scratches add character to it.

well to me by him saying that meant offense to me since im sure he was juding my race since some indians dont have tidy keeping skills and they are just a mess.
