iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen brightness on 16 Pro/Max [MERGED]

Trying to take pics of the 16 PM display with another phone but none look accurate. Keeps changing the colors. I’ll try in daytime tomorrow to see if easier. But yeah it looks great. Warmer than my 16 Pro but just as consistent and no blue shift.

At the bottom of the screen. It's super green when you compare it with the top. Looks bad.

I bet the one that you claim is super green at that angle is generally a cooler panel overall. That’s my experience.

Today they got white and black, and after reading your post I'm kinda sad I didn't take the white one 😀 but maybe I will be a first person with a desert with a nice screen with no shift at all, and I saw such an iPhone in on of the stores, but it was one of al lthe phones in 2 apple stores so like 1 out of 14?

I don't think it's so hard. I bought 14 Pro and now 16 Pro - both fantastic screens and from first time. Just give it a try.

Don’t be. I really think it’s a lottery. My lottery has just been favorable with white titanium but I’ve seen YouTube videos with perfect screens on all colors. It really is random I think so don’t worry about it. Think positive.

curious if LG or Samsung for science. Assuming Samsung from off axis. Off axis looks good, but straight on looks pretty good overall - is it at all two toned from top to bottom? Bottom looks a bit more red to my eyes. THat's the kinda thing that would just be enough to annoy me but again, hard to tell with pic.

You are right! I just did a check, and the display is a Samsung G9N. The bottom is not reddish at all – it could be just the photo, which was taken under less than ideal lighting.

All be told, I’m actually pretty pleased with this display on the whole after comparing it to a few other displays the past few days. It’s not perfect, but then again, I believe no display is 100% perfect. There will always be some minor flaws here and there if one really looks out for them. Many of the displays seem to have strong blue shift from my experience, especially the 512GB units (looked at three of them). (Mine is a 256GB, for what it’s worth.)

Not sure! How do I check?

If you haven’t tried, you can tap and hold the part of the screen you wish to focus on to lock the focus. You should then be able to adjust the exposure by adjusting the slider up or down. Hope this helps.

As for checking the display manufacturer, you can also run a sysdiagnose file on your iPhone (press and hold the side, volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously for about 2 seconds – there’s actually a guide on how to generate such a file on the Apple website). From the exported file, you can check the display manufacturer.

If that is the case then my 1TB either has a green colour shift / rainbow effect from the screen protector or the screen is pants. I will remove the protector later and compare to another iPhone, but it's annoying that I have to remove a perfectly good screen protector to find out.

I've tried taking pics here but I keep getting color shifts on the camera even after exposure lock and rainbow reflections from the screen protector but here's an attempt. In person, the display looks very even and has no blue shift.

yeah looks good, at this angle those that I saw so far like 90% would be very blue or dark green at the bottom half. I only saw one just like yours so far. So congratulations, you really got a nice one 😀

Congrats, finally you got a good one. Are you using the Belkin glass protector from Apple? I am and I see rainbow effect under several lighting conditions too, hate to remove it because it is $40. My cheapo ESR 3 pack that was $10 is better than the Belkin one.

Thx and yes the belkin screen protector from Apple Store. I see rainbow effect on edges too. Like it’s just a tiny bit smaller than the screen. I don’t mind it as much. I think of it as a colorful border around the phone lol

Although I do see some very mild rainbow waves when turning the phone at an extreme angle, that's just the panel. The mild color shift I have is pink. Screen is otherwise perfect and no reason to return. I've had terrible pink shift before, this one is nothing like those.

Installed my ESR screen protector, much better. Still some rainbow waves as expected, but not at all an issue during regular use unlike Belkin. Wonder why it reflects / refracts light in that way? My screen actually looks identical to my Pixel 9 Pro XL which has the same Samsung panel. It only took 1 attempt to get a quality screen on the Pixel...

I doubt your Pixel has the same screen. Yes, it's Samsung and it's using M14, but usually Apple develops their stuff internally and Samsung/LG are just manufacturing them via their guidelines.

I guess I will find out in a bit when I remove the screen protector, but got a new one from the store today to compare against.

Makes one wonder sometimes. The old screen uniformity issue might not always be just a bad OLED panel but the way the glass is bonded onto the panel from factory. Well for pink color tinges anyways. 😉
