So I need a magnifying glass to see these effects?

Just what does this image show me?while zooming this on my iPhone 5, moire patterns show on the right, but that's what happens when you add halftone dots, like it appears you did. ...the image on the left has much better color, but vertical lines. ...if I take a screen shot of my home with that icon, it's smooth. I don't get what this pic is supposed to show me.

Just had mine replaced. Couldn't take the interlacing anymore. Good news is my final replacement (the third one, BTW) doesn't have interlacing. It was built in September, whereas the others with interlacing were July builds. No idea if there is any correlation. Hopefully I'm done with replacements for the next year, until the 6 comes out and we can start this whole process over again![]()
They don't all have this problem, thankfully. My fiance's silver 32 5s doesn't have the issue. However, my gold 64 5s does. I'm going to ask about my options when I go in for my genius appointment tomorrow. I managed to grab pictures of the effect as well.
The photograph actually makes it look worse than it is, but you can definitely see the scan lines even though it's a smaller photo than the silver.
I'm going to the Apple store tomorrow and hope they have some experience with the matter it only really bothers me when I'm looking around the screen or moments of high motion -- I swear it's interlacing the frames for games like Infinity Blade. It makes them a lot less fun to play.
Is this software issue or hardware? So can this go away with jailbreak?
What device? A 5S? Can you tell me how you know the build date?
I'm getting mine replaced and I emailed Applecare a ton of pictures showing what I DO and DON'T want on my replacement. If it has interlacing, I told them I'm sending it right back.
I'm a little worried now lol.

Just got my replacement.
After 10 photos and probably 20 calls to make sure they don't send me back one with interlacing and to CHECK the phone beforehand since it DOES say "Inspected by AppleCare" on every replacement box, I finally got my replacement today.
It has by far the worst screen interlacing I've ever seen on a device. Where I had to look for it before and then it became forever noticeable, the problem JUMPED at me on this device. It was the first thing I noticed.
Greys and blues have it the worst. I feel like I'm gonna be sick.
I can't believe this issue still persists. I went through 6-7 iPhones and all had interlacing. What serial numbers are the phones with with interlaced screens? With the 5, it seems serials starting with F2 have a high likelihood of getting interlaced screens.
Like another user said, the difference between a normal and interlaced screen is night and day. A normal display is captivating and is up to par with OLEDs in wow factor. An interlaced one, even if you can't see the individual lines all the time, strains my eyes is just uncomfortable to look at.
I had 3 5s's ordered, all screens looked the same, how do you know if there interlaced? I looked at stripped backgrounds and the screen didn't blank out or anything.
Mine's an F1 number
