Agreed. To me, they do three things that stemless earbuds suffer from.
1. Their iconic design means they don't look like hearing aids.
2. They make inserting and removing the earbud more comfortable.
3. They offset forces associated with gestures so that it doesn't feel like you are trying to operate a hotel elevator while intoxicated.
I guess some people will mistakenly think the AirPod Pro Series 2 they see on early adopters are hearing aids. :D

Lossless is not something you can easily add to either AirPod Pro or AirPod Max. Bluetooth is the issue with that, so what are they going to change? Looking for something akin to Sony's LDAC to be implemented that gives you near lossless rather than lossy audio would be a major improvement.

Here is a list of the current bit rates in relation to Bluetooth audio standards

  • SBC — 200 to 328kbps
  • AAC — 128 to 256kbps
  • LC3 — 160 to 345kbps
  • LDAC — 300kbps, 660kbps, 990kbps
  • aptX — 352kbps
  • aptX HD — 576kbps
  • aptX Adaptive — 279 to 420kbps
  • aptX Lossless — 120kbps to >1Mbps
Read about Bluetooth LE Audio, a major upgrade to Bluetooth that is starting to roll out. I don’t believe current iPhones support it, however.

Ready to replace my APP's with better fitting tips, lossless sound, better Spatial Audio & Dolby Atmos performance.

Hoping for shorter stems.
How about priorities first? better sound quality, some bass and better ANC? Because currently their sound quality and ANC suck.
Barely effective ANC and they sound worse than regular Airpods even.

Lose the stem, add earhooks and it'd be instant buy for me. At least make some sport variant because current APP sucks for working out intensely. Anything faster than light jog is a disaster for me.

I hope they fix ANC so it doesn’t crackle. Major design failure in the APP: #cracklegate
Yep, I got mine replaced three times due to this issue. Luckily the last time even after the warranty ended. This and the terrible microphone needs to change with version 2. The microphone amplifies background noise and makes it impossible to use these as a wireless headset when on the go.

I really don't want Apple to remove the stems since they allow AirPods Pro to be adjusted effortlessly on the go. Plus pausing and resuming playback is so effortless that I cannot think how Apple could make it easier with a stemless design. All Apple needs to do is to make the bass better and deeper, improve ANC a bit and maybe just give us a new colour design. Keep the design as it is - Don't invent the wheel when you have already created something so close to being perfect.

Its not what you think, that is a major upgrade to Bluetooth.

I read about this more than 2 years ago when it was first announced. The broadcasting to multiple devices (multi-ch) is interesting buts its another example of using less bandwidth, more compression to have approximate the same audio clarity for low energy wireless devices such as hearing aids. :)

Battery usually lasts 2-3 years depending on use. Unfortunately very pricey to get new battery. It’s not worth it
That’s why Apple waits 3 years to come up with a new model as many people would rather buy a new one than replace battery. Stemless buds have been out now for 2 years so Apple waiting for the right time frame to maximize sales

We don't actually know if that is the reason for the delay, but it could be.

Apple makes this already:

They won’t serve the sport market with AirPods. That’s reserved for the Beats brand

I’m aware of Beats and I love it, in fact I do use Powerbeats for running. But there’s always tech delays and holdbacks when you compare it with AirPods.

The Beats Fit Pro is released in 2021 while all the features APP had since 2019. Also even with the chunkier case, the BFP doesn’t feature MagSafe nor wireless charging, another hold back.

So if 2nd gen APP had sportier design and fit, I’d just buy that instead.

Really hoping the HD Audio also works with Spotify. Probably wishful thinking...

Still, I don't think I can resist these. They should be easier to slap on a black skin/wrap too - current APP are a real pain.

Wonder how press/tap commands will work with these, as there's no flat spot like there is on the stem on the current APP. Please don't make us use Siri more often, Apple...

They definitely need to improve audio quality, the current Airpods Pro sound really bad.and they need to improve ANC,it’s really weak.
I wouldn't say "really bad" but they are definitely not best in class like the AirPods Max. Introducing lossless to the AirPods Pro with its mediocre sound quality is putting lipstick on a pig.

There’s a decent variety of third party tips that totally can accommodate to any ear canal on Amazon. The tips is probably the last considerable improvement Apple will make. ‘Spatial audio’ seems more hyped, and it’s kinda inconsistent technology with other manufacturers who use it, but Dolby would be the main selling point for me as well, So I’ll give you points for that upgrade.
I have yet to find any that work for me without cutting apart foam ones and jamming the pieces behind the silicone ones. The straightup silicone ones are all too small.

I just bought the AirPods Pro on sale after my 1st gen AirPods essentially died and I really like them. I debated whether to get the 3rd gen AirPods or the Pros and I’m extremely glad I got the Pros. There have been some great sales on AirPods and Apple Watches (especially SEs, which I also bought) which makes me think we‘ll probably see new ones this fall.

I own / owned many pairs of headphones both over-head and earbuds type.including regular Airpods and to be honest I was very disappointed by sound quality of Airpods Pro.
Sound quality wise FAR from the best in class,I’d say they are the worst in class.
they are super comfortable, small and very practical but sound quality is mediocre and ANC is weak.to my ears I even rate the sound quality worse than regular Airpods 2.
if you try Bose QuiteComfort earbuds,Sennheiser Momentum and Sony XM4,they are much superior in terms of sound quality and in case of Bose and Sony significantly better ANC too and they cost about the same.

As for Airpods Max,I don’t think they are best in class, the Sennheiser Momentum 3 takes the crown of sound quality followed by Sony 1000XM4.

The Sony WH 1000 XM4 are extremely bass heavy, and in a muddy, thumping way.

The Airpods Max sound much better, IMHO.

New APP need an alarm when you're about to wash your clothes with the device still in a pocket...

I own both the Momentum TW and TW2 and agree that the sound quality is way better on these than the AirPods Pro. I also owned the Momentum 3 and now own the Max. The Momentum 3s was a real disappointment to me (previously owned the M2s). I think the APM are waaay better.
