Second-Generation AirPods Pro Widely Rumored to Launch in First Half of 2021

Hopefully they fix the static issue that affected the first gen
The static issue is because of them being on inside the charging case. The charging case is very finicky. You should turn off noise cancellation before charging them as not to induce a feedback loop that results in this behavior.

I've had seven different exchanges on mine already. Seven. In one year. I figured it out, but Apple doesn't care.

We should not have to do anything special. The static is a bug Apple needs to fix, not customers having to change their behavior.

You can always buy replacement tips from a third party. Check out Comply foam tips for the AirPod Pro. Comply has been around, and many swear by them.
I tried the Comply foam tips and had the same problem, it just took longer to happen. I will be content with the all plastic ones. I use BOSE for the NC on long airplane trips any way. They are more comfortable for me.
