Make it longer and add a button so you can use it as a selfie stick when charging it through your iPad\iPhone.

All kidding aside beyond an erase feature(which I would guess would come via a toggle on the pencil) I'm not sure what improvements they can make. I may be in the minority here but I would love to see the next gen iPhone support the pencil; at least on the Plus models.

I'll almost certainly be skipping v2

Pro9.7, ASK, silicone, and pencil cost quite me a bit overall! Even though I still got good deals,

Would be nice for various generations of iPads, Thunderbolt 3/USBC/wireless charging, maybe a compatible iMac "Studio" drawing system....doubtful, they don't seem that courageous...

A wacom digitizer & stylus is the correct answer. An accurate and efficient digitizer, and a non-powered stylus whose every motion around every axis is being read with unmatched accuracy. If the stylus isn't detected within a few inches, switch the digi off and save the power.

Then all the ipad will need is a proper OS.

Should have done all this years ago.

Wonder if it'll have a W1-like chip for easy pairing/device switching + longer battery.

is pairing and battery life an issue when you can just quickly charge like this?

Please steal the Microsoft Surface pen and we'll all be happy clams.

I didn't mind the Surface Pen, but of the two I prefer the Apple Pencil.

I've never understood why there weren't more cases with Pencil holders. In Europe, they're basically non-existent. In the end, I ordered something on AliExpress:

Note that I don't give a fig whether you buy it or not, I'm not affiliated with these guys. But that case is simply so good that I don't want to withold it from people, especially because if you lose that Pencil, you're out a cool $100.

As someone who just picked up an iPad Pro and Pencil over the holidays, I can echo this statement. I still haven't found a case that I like and virtually none have any type of solution for the pencil. I'll have to look into that one.

I also second. I lost my Pencil as it probably fell.:(

I always thought putting magnets in it and allowing it to attach to the smart connector and pair/charge that way made more sense than using the lightning port.

Also possibly adding the W1 chip or Bluetooth 5?

Will they really upstage iPhone 8 with completely redesigned iPad (built-in Touch ID, slim bezel) in March?

Or will it be announced in March, 2017, available for preorder Fall, 2017, ships early-2018? Lolz

The current Pencil already has some magnets in it that will grip with the iPad Pro smart cover (maybe the iPad itself too, haven't tried that in awhile)... they're not very strong, however, so it's not entirely useful for on-the-go stuff.

I'd like to see v2 a bit shorter and thinner, or at least less heavy. An eraser would be very welcome as well. I don't really mind the current charging arrangement as it doesn't take very long to charge and it lasts awhile on one charge.

Thank you, powers-that-be. Apple engineers should be commended for making a Pencil that sucks and blows at the same time. Please steal the Microsoft Surface pen and we'll all be happy clams.

You'll only be happy if you're not very fussy. Not as responsive nor as accurate. No thanks.

If they add an eraser it's more than likely something that plugs up top into a lighting port. So you'll need to pick, erase or charge.

I just hope that they release this as USB-C or micro-USB, and with a female plug so you can use while plugged in.

If this happens and the iPad Pro 12" is usb-c too, my (creative artist) daughter will have a very happy birthday in July.

Otherwise, I'll pass.

If they add an eraser function (plug on the side?), it'd be gravy.

Yesss this. It would be so natural and I've longed for it many times.

I had a case like that for a while. After I enevtually found need and coin to pick up the Smart Keyboard I went with a moxiware magnetic sleeve over the pencil and the magnet in there is really strong. Any other time it's in my laptop bag in a pencil sleeve.

It is weird that cases with a pencil holder are still absent for the most part.

I haven't used the Surface pen for an extended period of time, but I tried it out at a Microsoft Store and came away unimpressed when compared to the Apple Pencil/iPad Pro combination. I think the Apple Pencil is one of the best products Apple has produced in a long time. Upgrades will be welcome.
I tried both in store, and I am also not impressed by the surface pen. For my terrible handwriting, the Apple pencil is better,
