I received my case today is gorgeous! I really like it. I have a question my phone has the lucky labs installed. Do I need to install the rash-guards element case sent? Or the lucky labs will work?

the lucky labs will work. they both serve the same purpose. Just a barrier to protect trapped dirt

I was laughing at first...but did you guys notice...100% of the sales goes to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer foundation.

I noticed, and I think that is extremely cool of not only Element Case, but of the buyer as well. :p

I'm waiting for my Sector 5 to arrive, and I'm extremely eager. I too feel that it is an exceptionally well designed and engineered case, as with everything that comes out of Element Case.

As others have stated, I treat Element's products as though they are an extension of the iPhone. Just like any accessory, they make you stand out from the crowd. Those who have compared it to an Otterbox or other case featuring protection as its primary function obviously don't understand. I have tried many different cases (including LifeProof, Speck, Incase, iSkin, etc.) and none of them compare to Element Case. I honestly don't ENJOY my phone the way I do when I'm rocking an Element Case. The protection that the Sector 5 offers is merely a bonus, because I purchased my ultimate protection in the form of AppleCare+. ;)

I've owned numerous Element Case products as well (from a nickel Vapor 4 to a Vapor R8 Pro), and the response I get from people when they see them is astounding. People are often flabbergasted that someone would put that much thought and engineering into something so simple. All I know is that I'm thankful that Element Case exists, because everything else is subpar in my opinion. :D

lmao its just a phone. relax.

For some it's more then a Phone it's a Statement of who they are. It's like the car you own. Be it a Ferrari or a KIA, it gets you from one place to another. It's about how you get there that makes the difference. For me the cost of the case is worth it. When you pull out your phone and not look like everyone else. That makes all the difference to me.

What burns me is in 6 months from now someone in China copies the design and you can get a replica for $25.

Received mine today. My initial thoughts...

Look: A
Feel: B
Function: C-

While the case nearly gets an A+ grade for its sexy good looks, there are small "gobs of glue" or adhesive that protrude from the four corners of the case and become visible around the iPhone screen. I noticed that one other poster in this thread noted the same issue. For the price, I consider this to be a problem in need of attention.

The "rash guards" have small tabs designed to make applying them to the outside edges - the antenna - of the iPhone easy. The problem is that those tabs are adhered quite firmly to the rash guards. One of the rash guards ripped while attempting to remove the small tab (as a result, there is now a small area of the antenna that is unprotected beneath the aluminum case).

The case is very sharp in the hand. It doesn't feel cozy in any way, shape or form. I'll have to see if I can get used to that.

My biggest complaint: I can hardly reach the tiny mute/un-mute toggle switch on the iPhone! The case is cut so close to that switch that it takes an unreasonable amount of effort to get my not-so-fat fingers into the case opening to flip the switch.

Finally - and this point is going to require further testing - I'm fairly certain that I lost a bar of reception after installing the Sector 5. I'm not positive of that (I forgot to check immediately before installation), but I'm pretty sure that I generally receive four bars at home (and I currently have three).

Now...Off to Game 7 to cheer on my San Francisco Giants!

I just finished installing the case on my phone. It looks fantastic. I at least temporarily left the back natural. I put a mat finish guard by Spigen on the Aluminum part of the back only.

I have to put out a warning about the installation. Unless you have a very steady hand (you need three by the way), the rash guard tape is almost impossible to apply and line up. It is very thin. It stretches. The tabs on the ends are hard to remove. The ends gather and become useless. The holes stretch and don't align. I ended up cutting sum Scotch tape the right width and covering areas where the rash tape had to be cut off because it got messed up and useless. Placing the tape is very delicate because it's designed to bend over the chamfers for protection unlike skins people install.

I like the feel, because it's definitely not slippery. Yes, the edges are sharp. But because of that it will not likely slip out of your hand. I had a nice Incipio dual protection case with rounded sides. I kept feeling like it would slip out of my hand.

I agree completely about the rash-guard tape. It's very difficult to apply. I ended up trimming clear Scotch tape in two locations where I messed up or distorted the rash-guard. I'm not sure that skins will work the same because the instructions tell you to wrap the rash-guard over the chamfered edges, to protect them. That means it has to be perfectly centered.

The retail price by itself is already lolworthy but that ebay link is just hysterical.

Don't laugh. I made a small fortune back in when iPhone 4 case came out from them. Thing was total crap but it didn't stop almost a dozen people, most outside the US paying a pretty penny for them.

I didn't put the rash guard on... is that a problem?

It's hard to tell. We'll know in a few months. The cases for the 4/4s mounted to stainless steel. Aluminum is softer. Element may be over compensating to avoid damage complaints. If the bumper does damage they can say it's your fault for not using the rash-guard. My opinion, if you're careful installing the case the foam bumpers should do the job of protecting the phone as well or better then any other case design.

A poster was concerned earlier that the Carbon Fiber back was interfering with the glass back windows of the iphone 5. When I did my earlier reception tests, I did not have on the carbon fiber backing, just the Case itself.

Well, I can indeed say that his guess was true. I noticed less bars in areas I would have great signal. I compared to my wife's 4s signal's and she would have more than me, when she usually has the same amount.

I took off the carbon fiber backing multiple times, and ran tests, and I can say that there was significant changes in signal each time.

Im using the ultra suede backing now, and everything is great.

I invite anyone else to confirm this when they receive their case, but this is definitely my situation.

Anyone know of any good backplates out there?

I went with some wraps from Sticker boy for the back and the sides. Pics taken on mod dock.

I'm at the Giants game and I can now say that I appreciate the fact that the case is NOT smooth. It remains effortlessly in my hands as I scramble to take photos of the game. Sharp? Yes. Secure in hand? Indeed.

I'm noticing a significant amount of lint buildup due to the "spilling over" of adhesive on this case. I may remove the rash guards. I think those are the culprit.
