Maybe the helper is already installed? It needs it to work properly and starts the CDock dock at boot up. Strange! Maybe try uninstall and install of CDock? Be sure to have a backup...
Thanks for the concern. I do not want to risk an uninstall, which would probably mean going back to reinstalling Mojave.
Now that the security update 005 is installed, cdock will most likely not work. So I am just going to use it as it is, working but requiring 2 error-producing "Approve installation of a cDock helper" popup on any reboot.Normally I will rarely reboot, sleep is the norm here.
So far I haven't heard anything more from the developer, probably busy or baffled by the contradictory info in my last update.
BTW, can you access the www.macintouch.com web site? Recently it started asking for my user registration ID and password - didn't even know I had one, much less remembered it.
Edit, Nov. 15, 2020
The developer of cDock belatedly answered a mail I sent previously, probably about the date of this post, and said that Apple has resolved the issues that were causing cDock to crash. o I tried to reinstall it.
It now works fine on Mojave. Yah! :)
It still does not work on High Sierra. o_O

Yes asking for user/password on macintouch...

As for CDock, had you disabled SIP? Necessary I think for the helper installation, then, you can re-enable SIP I think...

Maybe SIP enabled itself during reinstall (I think install clears NVRAM...).

From developer site:

«
  • Download the Latest release of cDock
  • Open the downloaded .zip file and open cDock
  • Allow cDock to move itself to /Applications
  • Allow cDock to install or update it's System Components
  • Disable System Integrity Protection
    • You can maintain partial protection using csrutil enable --without debug –without fs
  • Theme away»

Thanks again!
SIP is disabled, and I am all out of ideas ....
Tried the same sequence and procedure on my High Sierra system, cDock refuses to work!
even installed before the Security Update 004 (yes 4, not 5). Again all out of ideas, but as this computer is a backup, for emergency use only, I have reverted to the uglyDockling!

Thanks for checking the Macintouch site, probably down or broken.

Weird... You tried to manually add the helper? From one of your TM backups maybe: located in /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.w0lf.cDock.Installer. Root/Wheel permissions on this file. There is also com.w0lf.cDock.Injector in the same folder. Corresponding plists for these two files are located in /Library/LaunchDaemons.

Yes, I already have com.w0lf.cDock.Installer and the injector installed there, System/Wheel read only permissions, is that different from Root/Wheel? I have never really understood the permissions for such files.
I just thought "Maybe the permissions for the related Library are screwed up, let me check...
The permissions for Library and /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/ are both; system read and write, wheel read only.
Is that the same in your system?
I manually backed up all of the files installed by cDock when I first installed it running Mojave. Unfortunately I don't have the same backup for the High Sierra system on the MBP.
All of this hassle for a Dock! Apple should really offer users a few alternatives for the Dock in the preferences.

No, you are ok. System/Wheel is correct... Yes, it would had been cool to let users decide which dock appearance they want.

I had no ram issues but my dads macbook pro could not make new users. Would create but not show in systrm preferences in users and groups. A fresh install of the os fixed that.

Im staying at 2020-04...I tried 2020-05..slow startup and I think safari 14 is the culprit. That is even after all the fixes apple supposedly have done with the program. If you have a older computer I wouldn't recommend 2020-05. Also indexing doesn't take that long to catchup after 2-3 startups. It doesn't get any better.

I have, in the end, completely dismantled (deleted) cDock. As per the developer's generic letter, there are issues between cDock and Mojave after running Security Update 005. In a work session where I had several apps up at the same time, Firefox, several Word pages, a dictionary, and a calculator, I could not copy paste from Firefox to Word after waking from sleep. A reboot cured that temporarily. Memory usage was excessive until I deleted all traces of cDock, and the system is now back to Mojave's "best of class" standard.
I will miss that transparent dock ... 😹

That didn't trash any of your files or apps, did it?
I have been rerunning OSs over installs for years, 10.2. It does a great job of refreshing the install with no damage. It fixes most problems. I told Apple, who was unaware that it could be done, and a couple weeks later they started suggesting it online.

The Next Day:
I'm rerunning the installer this very minute, because I ran Safari 14.0.1 Seed 3 and then did I have problems! Got it all cleaned up and it was running pretty good. What I did was after reinstallation I booted back up used SilentKnight that found and installed all the previous Safari updates from the 13s to 14.0.1S3.

So I thought I'd tempt the fates and installed 2020-004. WHAT A MISTAKE! Nothing but Kernal Panics and running and startup are really slow. Now to start all over, might try 2020-005 to see what happens.

I didn't noticed at first but still seeing these in the system log ("One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined."):

Problems or not in the long run?

Is anyone getting really low free RAM after applying this update? Activity Monitor says I have 12 GB of RAM used right after I launch it after logging in.

There seems to be no app or process that is claiming that RAM, yet it's marked as used.

Already tried sudo purge, cleaning out unused launch agents.

iStat Menus says 11 GB of app memory is being used. How does that happen? Before that was how much free RAM I had when starting up!

Tried trimming my login items to zero, still no improvement.

I made a clean install of the latest installer build of OS X Mojave.

1. Clean install without the Security Update worked much better with iCloud.
2. Clean install with the Security Update failed entirely by using iCloud.
3. With both installs, I had great trouble copying my files from an external USB drive to my internal SSD drive.

I switched back to OS X High Sierra. That experience was a killer.

I want to keep my current Mac on Mojave and then when I get a new one- I'm going to use the latest OS

Thing is- I've been getting a lot of errors and even after a clean install, I'm still getting errors- mainly on some websites.

The security update was the culprit for a lot more problems. I'm having a few problems but it's better than having as many as I was having with this.

The 2020-005 update was updated to remove bugs in Safari. It might be worth it to download it again, or...
2020-006 + safari update out now!
Yeah, but does it cause problems like 005 did? I know that problems with updates are rare, but after that last one, I'm wary.

Double drat. I'm still on 2020-004 and it's working fine, however I made the mistake of installing 2020-005 on someone else's MBP and it's had a few crashes, the latest one required a safe-mode boot to clear. So I was really pleased to see this 2020-006 update arrive and came straight here to find out if it was good to install it and replace the dodgy 2020-005 version. But of course we're all suffering from the quite understandable once bitten twice shy syndrome...

I read in another post, people where having issues with the 006 update.

Should I update all of these? I did the security and essential update last week and I thought that was it.

That was probably 005 update (do you mean the one with the supplemental update).

The 006 update only came out on Thursday.
I would wait at least a week personally.

I just installed the new supplemental and Safari 14 update since it did not require a restart, will hold off on 006 for a bit. Is there any way to check which one I updated because I believe I installed the 004 one.
