I had an app on my old iMac with a background eraser and it worked okay.
Have no clue the name today, but it was free and useful.
I think people are overusing the AI label.

I wonder why this feature is only available in English-US.

For the same reason Visual Look Up is not available everywhere, they don't care. I traveled recently to the US and as soon as I was off the plane visual look up appeared on my photos without changing any setting. Back at my third world home country it disappeared.

Is this actually AI? Its almost the same as the retouch tool that Photoshop has since ever, doesn’t really understand the context behind the subject to erase and just uses what’s it’s around to patch the empty space…
I agree. The only thing "AI" about it is the software understanding what you want to erase. From there, it's just as if you were using a clone tool... but doing a sloppy job of it.

certainly looks good but still need some work as not as good as google's. good it's finally there though at long last.

Sounds like a nice feature for people that photo bomb your pictures, but this example of getting rid of someone who was in the picture on purpose...
I believe when they use photos of their own kids, they are paying them fees to put into Roth IRAs as modeling fees, just saying.
