It’s not that I miss this feature but can’t believe that Apple is restricting beta testing of such features if you live in EU. I do understand that EU had been hard on Apple but why such hurdles? Appple’s greediness (maybe Phill’s) caused everything. I can understand that functions like Siri can handle only English in the beginning but what does it has to do with region? If Apple tries to teach a lesson for EU citizens, we do have other phones to choose from.

Because the EU will conjure up some complaint and try to fine them for “not following the spirit” of a poorly written regulation. Instead, it’s on the leaders of the EC to figure out and state exactly how they demand things work with AI before Apple wastes time and effort trying to read their minds.

Content Aware Fill was introduced in Photoshop in 2018. 6 years ago. The shown example uses a 6 years old technology.

I don't deny there will be progresses and refinements in this field. Just don't call it intelligent. Not yet, at least.

Very pedantic argument. I suppose I need to demand Mr Clean rename my Magic Eraser because it doesn’t tap into the occult enough while removing stains from my kitchen.

Pedantic or not, it's true.

I don't think Apple used rocket science technology for this specific feature. Actually there was an object removal app (Inpaint) even before Photoshop's Content Aware Fill. Not an expensive professional app – for the average Joe. Just to be even more picky and finicky...

It's a fine tool, CapitalIdea. Nothing wrong with it. I just don't think it deserves slapping an AI tag on it.

Yeah, Google Photos Magic Eraser has been available in the EU since it launched years ago. Just sayn Apple.
You can even use it on Apple Devices when you have a Google Subscription.
I know. As I have google drive, I can use magic eraser. It is more advanced now, but I don't like the new interface. I like google's approach in this. Certain functions are available across all pratforms. If Apple saying that their ´Clean up´ tool only gonna work with iPhone 15 pro and newer, it would be a scam. I found a iOs shortcut in Cnet to search an object with google lens. Not so easy as drawing a circle to search as in Android phone but it works well.

Am I the only intelligent person here?
You are all comparing it to Google or Photoshop stuff, that are all done in the cloud. This is done on-device.

Apple is in such a rush to implement Ai they are letting things go to the public in beta as opposed to just doing the work, getting it right, and then releasing it. Who is mandating they release so much of Open Ai's technology in one go? Or do they expect Open Ai to do all the heavy lifting and fix all the bugs for them?

I love its fantastic ability to remove watermarks from stock photography from companies that want you to pay for simple photos that should be free anyways. AI could easily generate this for me for free. But I decided to do a Google search and I found a photo suitable for what I wanted to do.

I removed all the watermarks and had a blast doing it. It was almost like playing a video game. And I got the photo for free.

Below is the original, riddled with the annoying watermarks, followed by the one I used the Clean Up tool on.

So you approve taking copyright material and using the app to make it your own?

Photographers and companies own the photo and have a right to charge for its use.

They took a lackluster photo in a public area, of a thing that's visible for free to anyone who walks by there, and suddenly they want to charge for it? I don't think so.

I would understand and respect their copyright if it were a "valuable" sight like a photo taken inside Area 51 or inside North Korea, where they had to go out of their way to get the photograph.

They have a right to charge; you have a right not to pay.

You don’t have a right to steal someone else’s work, regardless of what it is, and claim it your own.

I do understand that and am in agreement with you.

But this time I couldn't resist.

In any case, what I did with it was just some fun image editing. I copied and pasted an image of my friend just outside the building, and I sent it to him and told him he looked like a bouncer.

I didn't and won't sell it. I won't be remunerated in any way. I won't be claiming it was my work (the building); however, it was my idea to copy and paste my friend into that specific image and I do take credit for that.
